Dan has always known Ryu. Dan was also a Gouken's disciple, but he was forced to leave his training once Gouken found out his true motivation: Revenge (on Sagat for killing Hibiki Gou, Dan's dad).

So if you come to think about it, it's pretty logical the idea of Dan knowing Ryu.

.P.D.: I don't know why but Dan seems to improve a lot in SNK games (even the Otoko Michi is a useful move here) ^^

It would make sense if Dan improves in SNK made games as he was originally created by Capcom as a parody of SNK characters (hence all that Robert Garcia stuff in this vid).

Well... I already knew that. Dan is Capcom's counter to SNK Kyokugen-ryu (Street Fighter came before than Ryuuko no Ken/Art of Fighting).

Even knowing that I find pretty funny the idea of Dan being useful in the only 2 SNK fighting games where he appeared. XD (In Match of the Millenium (a must have for all the Neo Geo Color collectors out there) he's even better than in this game).

.P.S.: I'm not mocking Dan, I'm a Dan fan and a Saikyo-ryu player (well, at least I try it) ^^

@DemonicKirishima Capcom made Dan as a parody of Robert Garcia because SNK made RYO in Art of Fighting who looked like a rip off of Ken and Ryu. Dan has had references and joke dialogue about it in many street fighter games. It's been a long running joke since Street Fighter Alpha.
