@jules031056 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I`ve always had a soft spot for Mr Mayfield, a real class act, turned everything he touched to pure gold. Fantastic sounds and memories , and let`s not forget The Impressions,
What Curtis Mayfield said than is happening today. His message of hope, inspiration and prosperity lives on today. He was the man with a dream as well.
this track is so healing, like a medicine for me! happy new year to all of you! let's all move on up to whatever each of one had been wishing and dreaming all these years!!!!
If you like this - check out on YouTube:- Mel Britt - She'll come running back. Similar sound from Chicago done 2 years before this. Has a hint of the guitars as used in this.
Man, Curtis is one thing, but his band, wow, that horn section is DYNO.(i wish he would have toured with horns instead of synths.... booo synths!! gtf outa here!
I am white dude around 50 years old now. LOVED R & B/Soul especially 1965-1985. While I like a lot of different kinds of music, R & B/Souls has really stuck with me thru the years. I don't know how I missed Curtis Mayfield all these years. He was never on my radar. Mainstream kept playing Superfly. While watching "Get on the Bus" I heard his music and have been hooked ever since, What a genius I missed. His music is simply PURE HEAVEN and saddened he is gone. RIP and THANKS!
Have to agree with you, if there is one piece of music I would choose to remember Curtis with, this is it, having said that Curtis could never do any wrong in my book anyway. Many thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
This 1970 R&B track is arguably one of the best tracks of the 70's, and of alltime from a masterful musician and composer, bow down to Mr. Mayfield, bow down.
Many thanks. I know others have uploaded Move On Up, but I have been listening to this track since it was released in the UK in 1971. If there was one track to introduce people to Curtis, this is it., or maybe People Get Ready, or maybe ........ impossible to pick one from the genius of Curtis Mayfield. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
5* !!!
