Vasquez has taken that RG spot and held it down very well. Few penalties, few mistakes, few problems. Provides a great run blocking presence on the inside. English admittedly hasn't done a heck of a lot. I kinda wanted Michael Oher and with Vasquez could've been great. English is there for next year if Merriman decides to head out, then we have two good pass rushers still. As for NT, unless we reached for Brace, no good choices at that pt in the draft.

looks like another bad draft. If you charger fans are looking for someone to blame for the Chargers fall , then look no further than AJ smith. Ignoring the fact that J.williams was old and had no depth behind him is ridiculous. shoring up the oline and putting depth on the dline should have been the priority. Now look at us in 09, the oline is improving and I guess vasquez maybe a stud soon, but our entire D went down when williams when down. The 3-4 relies on a fatass DT, which we dont have.

as a long time charger fan I think we should have tried getting a strong safety and a middle linebacker since wilhelm is not there but we always do good on draft day can wait till the season starts go bolts.

cletis gordon is not that good in my opionion plus he cost us like a big penalty for unnecasry roughness in the playoff game agsinst pittsburgh last year.

Maualuga isn't that great. He overpersues and is a liability in passing downs. We have Dobbins and Siler to be physical and Burnett for passes. English is a stud and will be great next to Philips and Merriman.

They don't need Maualuga... They have arguably the best LB corps in the league (when Merriman is healthy). English is a good pick because it won't cost them as much to sign him, and he'll be as good if not better than Maualuga with the experience he picks up from the Bolts defense.

I'm actually fine with the pick in the 1st round. My only concern for now, as far as the defense goes, would be the ILBs. Cooper will probably be ok. Maybe. It's opposite his position I'm concerned about, because that crappy player Matt Wilhelm played like shit. I'm hoping that Kevin Burnett has gotten better in run stopping, so that he can do that besides pass coverage. It'll either be Burnett or Tim Dobbins to start in that spot.

after looking more into larry english, he is a great match with th SD defense. a lot like scotty cooper. SD should also try to get a good safety or WR. other than that, english looks to be good.

they got a good safety in kevin ellison from usc, who will no longer allow WR's to come across the middle unless they want their helmet knocked off. as for WR's, watch out for undrafted rookie free agent Gregg Carr from florida state. 6'6, 220, he's a big receiver who can get up there and snatch those jump balls.
