The Elantra does not get 40MPG highway. Check out that data on the website 'fuelly'. Consumer watchdog has sent a letter to president Obama and to the EPA stating that you car does worse that what the EPA tests reveal, and Chevy Cruze consistently does better than what it's EPA values are. Both the Elantra and Cruze are 33MPG combined).
The Cruze gets an average of 28% better mileage than the Elantra.
Stop lying please. My mother got an Elantra, always in Eco mode, can't get more than 25MPG
I would pull those mats up and put some Wal-Mart cheapies in there. Save your good mats for if/when you sell. I wish I had done that with my Corolla's mats.
Cool car, Hyundai is certainly outdoing Toyota with the Elantra. I wouldn't mind having one of these. Best part is that even a money-starved student like myself can afford one!
I got the same model on order here on Vancouver Island, the dealership didn't have any manual sport's on the lot, I got mine for 19 ! with a military discount they have a special this month with an added .30 cent off per liter for the rest of 2011 and a free added 2 year full maintenance package free oil changes etc, they also have 0 % no fees 0 interest .....so payments were VERY low and 0 interest = very happy,

Great car, great review. LOL, someone on here posted "how can someone keep a car for 7 years?". I have had my 97 saturn since it was new. I hate car payments so I keep em for a long time. Time is up on it pretty soon though.
damn this car isnt bad, but right now in decideing between this hyundai or the mazda 3 hatchback, the mazda would be like $2000 more with the tech package but then again this hyundai is way cooler then i thought it was, can someone help me out here, im planning on buying within the next 3 months!!!!
I was on the fence with the Mazda 3 sport as well and actually thought I was going to buy it until I took the Hyundai Touring out .....way more room for my dogs, and more standard options even on the base model warranty is much better as well ....I'm just waiting for the call to say my Vivid Blue, GLS Sport 5 speed Manual is ready for pick up in the next day or 2, check out the dealerships they have deals on right now well in Canada anyways....
GLS ?? Could this be the SE trim? Hyundai USA website offers the GLS or the SE. SE has the upgraded alloys. I think you purchased the SE, not the GLS. correct me ??
There is a great deal where I live right now where all the cars are on sale with 0% financing. The accent is going for $9,999 and since I am a cheap student I was leaning towards that, but the touring also caught my eye because of the space. Therefore making it easier to fit my gear in the car when I go snowboarding.
Good review. I was set on buying this car until I saw the Elantra 2011 now I can't decide on the Elantra or the Elantra touring. The regular Elantra is just so dang pretty for the money but this one is so dang functional.
nice review. I've been thinking about this as my next vehicle and the SE or similar to yours is selling for 19,000 here through a car buying program with my bank.
Looks like you scuffed the plastic in the luggage area near the 12v outlet. I would be so pissed at myself if I did that to a new car. How is it holding up in the wear and tear dept?
@taylor1212eminem how can someone NOT keep a car for that long? a buddy of mine, his dad is an executive at union gas co. and he gets a new car every 3 years, i don't even understand how someone can get a brand new car that often, the ones he get's rid of are hardly broken in!
You buy with cash and sell it while it still has value. Not counting the initial cost for the first car, you end up paying about $2000 a year to drive a new car all the time. If you need to present an image of being classy or well to do, it's the way to go. A real estate agent is a person who would be in that catagory. Cheers.
Phenomenal review man, I love it. And what's more, I live in BC too, so the price you paid is really intriguing me. If you don't mind me asking, where did you find it? I cant find a 2010 gls sport for 22K, let alone finding a Hyundai Dealer that actually has one. If you have any advice for finding a deal on one of these in BC, please let me know. I'm looking for a Polar White GLS sport
Thanks, actually, they had a "vivid blue" sport 2010 for sale, but so not into the color, to bright, uh...But you could tell they we're wanting to sell it, that was going for 19,500, to sell them, about $2000 cheaper, but I did manage to get a pretty good deal on the 2011, well I wasn't planning to spend that much, but to get my color, had too. And there are like none gls sport's around, no 2010, and the 2011 are just coming in, not many though, go figure, I lucked out...
And it's funny, because when I took the test drive, it was this vehicle, the only one like this on the lot. And I got some accessories, sunroof, and side visors, and the protective back bumper panel, for loading things in your car. Take care....
P.S. And my second color was "Polar White", super cool!
@BebeHue Yeah, they're tough to find. Everywhere I go, they only have 2-3 Elantra touring models max., and usually all GL, Maybe a GLS. Haven't seen a sport in person yet. But at least if you strike gold (like you did)- you're somewhat original when driving around town. Which is odd considering its a hyundai, haha. Anyway, thanks for the response, and enjoy the car!

Simple, buy a VW TDI. Mine is 12 years old. That's a lot of saving (of gaz and car).
