  • I had one. :( I loved it! It was my first car!

  • I have a '90 with 170k, burns oil but man is ever the most fun car I've ever owned or driven. Looks exactly the same as this one, and I got lucky as the interior is flawless. Dealer was asking $5,200. $3,200 was 400 over blue book but it seemed like a bargain. I plan on keeping it forever......

  • dude that vid is sweet the way it is set up. looks almost like a comercial somewhat lol.

  • i love these cars....

  • 5 people are bitter GM employees

  • Hey my dad had same car around 92 when i was a teen, he adored it but i remember him complaining about the rear steering rack clicking all the time. It was a nice car sadly it was stolen and never seen again, still got the photos in my Album. All my friends loved it and thought it was the smartest car ever.

  • So freaking clean! I want it

  • Wow I was not expecting RJD2, nice pick man. Sweet car too.

  • Jesus, the car is -b-e-a-utiful man. and i like the song man, its bad ass.

  • Yo whats the update on this car man? Still have it? Still running? It would be nice to hear you know? I have one too and im hoping i could keep it for a long time

  • @ankl3br3ak3r Sold several years ago on Ebay. Went to Illinois. Haven't heard any updates on it in quite some time. Wish I still had it!

  • @4cruizn Noooo. Should've kept it man. That's too bad. One last question, which rims are those?

  • @ankl3br3ak3r Integra "Phat 5's"

  • @ankl3br3ak3r

I've got one with 278000 on it and it runs perfectly. Didn't even do any special maintenance.

  • @ankl3br3ak3r The mechanical 3rd gen 4WS was better than the 4th gen hydraulic. :)

  • @epcdaniel dont forget 5th ;)

  • @interpol007 Well, I have no experience with 5th gen 4WS because it was never available in North America. ;)

  • @epcdaniel Just replying to myself because I made an error. ;) I meant to say "better than the 4th gen electronic" but I was thinking hydraulic for some reason. whoops. :)

  • danger rain on road in highway turn accident cars.

  • this kinda looks expensive to fix.........

  • I couldn`t have driven mine since 2008, so I thank you very much for this video. Makes me remember some great feelings.

If doing such videos is your job, you`re at the right place. If it`s not, I wish you`ll move.

  • I've test-driven one and I can tell you that these things CARVE the HELL out of corners!

  • did that model of prelude with the F22 not the H22, come with vtec?

  • i have one here in charlotte nc call me if u want to buy it $1500/check it on craiglist

  • its 4ws?! cool. is it 4wd too?

  • @myuzz I WISH

  • When the car isn't moving at around 1:06 the rear wheels turn in both the same AND opposite direction as the front wheels. Shouldn't the rear wheels only move opposite to the front wheels the the car isn't moving?

  • @n40798 No. The direction of the rear wheels has nothing to do with speed. It's all about how far you're turning the steering wheel.

  • @n40798 its four wheel steering bro u move the steering wheel at all and all four wheels move to hence the 4ws on the car

  • @n40798 the wobble is suppost to be there, mine does it too, its just a correction when the front wheels are a few degrees from being centered

  • @n40798 ......Going by what mine does,,,,the rears turn a 1/4 to the distance of the fronts, moving or sitting still. they DO look to be confused at the turning point your speaking on though,,,,,it "seems" that is where the return point is. the rear wheel steering only assist up to a certain mph. fun cars though at 140mph it drives itself, smoothly too

  • ZENJI (YOSHIHARU) WAS DRIVING THIS CAR IN OITA.

  • It's so clean man!!!! I have the exact same car. But It's 1989 also Si and 4WS. I'm jealous man! I have some rust on the wheel well area. I want mine to look like yours! Nice Car man

  • Superbe vidéo ;) - j'ai un 3G 16s 4ws grise, toujours fun !

Really nice - I have a 3rd Gen 16v 4ws in grey, always nice to drive it !

  • Great video... 5 *'s!!

  • Can someone tell me what motor is in this car? Stock though.

  • @ankl3br3ak3r a B20

  • almost a year ago a guy had one of these for sale for 1,500 in excellent condition. wtf was i thinking not to try and get this car.................. i guess i wasn't thinkimg.mmm. excellent example of the 4ws system here.

  • I think these jammin' tunez. What is it? Great video, btw.

  • i got one jus like this but black....

  • honda should bring in a super car with the hsv engine and be the fastest production car

  • Your an amazing editor man...Holy shit

  • nice video thanks

  • dude u did a great job editing this lol. u made that care acctually look badass haha just not so many old school ludes look too good nowaday props to old school <3 my da teg

  • Very Coo

  • That is SO freaking cool...

  • They are, the CRZ worlds 1st mass produced Zero emissions hybrid that is what the CRX would look like if still made today.

  • I Love my Prelude, got a 90 Si and of course needs work but it is what I am doing.

They do need to bring back the CRX & Prelude cause Civics are overrated if you ask me.

  • prelude r the mad cars

  • I have the 5th gen 97 lude and it has the turning circle of a tractor trailer. i never make u-turns anymore unless its a 3 lane road on the other side.

  • I have the same car except mine is white and has only 83k on it. It is just as clean though. I love these cars

  • Song name pliiiizzz =) very good video btw =)

  • 4ws, i just came

  • I want your car.

  • my friend had one in highschool, I dunno if we just young or what, but that bitch pretty damn fast, he said it had a 2.1 L stock

  • @marc96accord yeah 2.1 was the top dog of that year, untl the h22 came out.

  • @SeanFarley25 I used to own a 97 type sh, really fun car, but used too much oil and expensive to repair

  • that was cool dude, well done

  • everybody loves a honda<3

  • No way! That turning circle is unreal!

  • then i guess mine wasnt stock when i bought it lol

  • btw nice tyre - what size are they?

  • isnt 4ws bad for racing performance???

  • Depends what you mean by performance

4ws wins on Handling performance, turning performance, stability performance.

4ws doesnt in terms of straight line performance.

Unfortunately there are more straights than tight bends on any race track so a 4ws is not seen as advantagous overall.

I say this because not that it doesnt have benefits but its disadvantage (on a straight which is a majority of the track) outweighs its advantages (in the bends).

    NOT because it doesnt work.

  • If speed is not the most important thing 4ws wins in more ways than one.

unfortunately most people are only concerned with speed. hence all the emphasis is on the engine specs only.

Suspension, body construction, steering or overall engineering etc takes second to no consideration.

  • but you gotta think about it dude the 3rd gen ludes have iron engine block which means they handle a decent amount of power IF you know how to work on 'em

  • @juss444 Nope, ALL hondas since the very first car have aluminium block and head.

  • I'm really ashamed because I crashed a 1988 4WS model. Those things are becoming more and more uncommon each day.

  • That sucks. Check out Craiglist ...I have seen 4ws for sale on some occassion. Love these 3rd Gens. I drive my 91 more than my 2001 prelude. Its like putting on some old comfortable shoes, or using a baseball mit thats already broken in. You know what Im talking about = )

  • Damn I miss the Prelude. I wish they had put 4WS in the new Civic Si

  • that lude is sick

    nice abd good song

  • Dam thats nice man, keep it real clean..

  • ЕЕЕЕЕЕЕЕЕЕЕ...!!!! отлично вышло!

  • honda should really start making preludes and crx's again. im bored of the accord and civic.

  • yeah your right...everyone has civics an accords and its not that i dont like them but i think preludes are better

  • @eljinetetriste

i wanted to give you a hundred thumbs up.

  • @eljinetetriste The CRZ... Though you may want to do some serious engine work. Get rid of it's pussy hybrid shit.

  • @eljinetetriste I'm already bored of the CRZ.

  • Great vid man!

  • I have owned one for many years.

In normal highway driving the handeling is about the same as the standard Si model. On the Honda prelude the only advantage is tighter cornering in parking lot manuvers and backing up down a winding driveway is a lot more controled.

  • What's the handling like? Does it hug the corners like a lot better? Does it get like wobbly ever? Is it touchy? Sorry for so many questions.. But I have never been able to ask anyone before.

  • I've driven a 1988 Honda Prelude Si 4WS and the handling's pretty good. When paired with some decent performancee tires the 4WS is pretty awesome.

  • I can't seem to let go of the car. I cannot get the driving experience from any of the newer cars. Now that the car is getting older it's appear is just getting better by the fact that it has a nineties look with the unique pop up headlights which changes the cars look and feel at night (does not get boring like other cars).

Its a classy cruiser not a high speed performer (speed is over rated in my opinion). The unique look and driving feel of this generation is worth the cost of restoration!

  • I bought my 3rd gen prelude from a friend. Like many i only liked it because of the options (sunroof, power windows, central locking, cruise control etc) being a young teen then.

I since found out the other attributes that no 3rd gen owner would experience nor see from looking at the car (fantastic vision, great handling, no body roll, tight chassis and 4ws stability and progressive steering).

Ive since had 3 preludes and to this day still have 2 of them. Fantastic, classy and reliable car.

  • Nice and fun video.

Its thanks as that I love 4ws on Prelude !

    Thanks for it !

  • nice :) i wish mine looked that clean and had 4wheel stearing :)

  • me too lol

  • Brilliant car ^^

  • wow 1991. no chevy or ford junk is till running from that year

  • I'm not a Ford OR Chevy lover, but I still feel that credit should be given where credit is due. The Ford truck was in it's time the single most durable/versatile/remarkable truck that could be bought. Same with Chevy, Dodge, and now Toyota. Not so much nowadays, but when Fords, Chevys, and Dodges where still what they born to be, they were unstopable. So let's not put down the achievements of men and women who worked hard to move the automotive industry along into what we see it as today.

  • Not at all true. Soviet cars have gone 40 years and go 400,000 if well cared for - American, German, Japanese, even FRENCH have a fair chance of going longer.

  • best prelude video in youtube! good work

  • I had a 90 automatic 4ws and it was the best I ever owned by far. With fingertip steering it was the most comfortable, effortless drive, yet when you put the foot down it knocked you back in your seat. And it looked good, especially from the front. Rust killed it, but if you ever get a chance to buy a clean one, go for it.

  • i have to agree but should of went on freeway to show at high speeds the 4WS

  • This is the best video I've seen for showing off the 4ws. nice work and great lude!!

  • these ricer comments are as smart as the spammer unitedufohead

  • Gonna be my first car. Lol

  • Holy shit me too!! I'm gonna this for my first car too!! Good on you!

  • Very nice, clean paint job too.

  • hahah , i think ( Honda's) should let you do the car comercials..( best car show off i've seen yet)

  • agreed xD

  • Definitely!!!

  • @gunnutz1 Agreed, best homemake Video. Of course the car helps, really good condition. But I have to say very nice photography.

  • Dude thats all I work on it has all whel steering all wheel drive electronicly controlled suspension dampers exaust function to change from sigle to dual exaust.

  • Dual exhaust on an inline engine proves you are retarded.

  • 1988 to 1991 are the only cars in the world with true mechanical steering. other years from honda and other manufacturers were cable or hydrolic steering.I have an 88 4ws and man, its a world of difference!!!

  • nice fat fives lol

    how does 4ws feel ?

  • Thank you for this very well realised video, i love the style ( and the red 3rd Gen too ^^ )

  • the 3000gt vr4 also has that aws

  • no VR-4 has AWD not AWS.

  • they had 4ws on some models i beleive

  • nice video

    nice car

    nice song

    5 Stars

  • nice vid but you neeedd me to show you the REAL capabilties of these cars. Best ever cornering, and only true 4ws ever.

I woulda made the whole block shit in their pants how i woulda been weaving through traffic.

ps you got some shit filler-work on your passanger quarter (drivers if ur US). See your bodyworker!!!!!

  • looks fun to drive

  • heck yea.. i have a black 4ws 1991 and its the shit at turns xD

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Ghostwriter by RJD2

  • gorgeous car. i have an 86, love of my life. wish i could find one with 4WS though

  • i busted a nutt

  • I busted a nutt too joel!!!

  • nice car check out mine

  • great car

    I used to have one

    thank you

  • yo creia qe 4ws era all wheel drive o traccion alas cuatro rueda por qe en los prelude podia ver una especie de flecha

  • those anyone know what to do if a want to put those rear internals on a 4 door obd0 civic? -ready for serious modifications

  • Outside of stripping the entire chassis off and rebuilding the car? Doubt you'd want to go through the trouble of, essentially, constructing your own vehicle.

  • drives a bit different, you will feel the bigger difference after driving a few months a 4ws then going back to normal

  • does it drive any different than a regular car?

  • "Driving," in the sense of the word, no. The Handling is monstrous though. And the fact that the 4WS is mechanical, means there's no leakage from the hydraulic-designed 4WS used today. Almost no maintenance required outside of regulat chassis care.

  • i mean someone who never drove a 4ws would be able to get in there and drive with no problem or would they cut corners short and stuff

  • Just as how every car handles different, you get used to it.

  • Yes, if they used common sense.

  • They use the electronic 4ws now, none are hydraulic however the mechanical one although heavier than the electronic is the most reliable and predictable-except maybe the new rear steer seen on Chevy trucks with Quadrasteer and the rear steer of the Infiniti FX-50-the best part about these two is that in addition they have AWD.

  • Amazing video and more amazing lude you got there.. have the same car, but not the "si" model and love it^^

but did i get this right that does the si model have unlockable rear wheels "5-speed" and not si model ludes wit 4ws have lockeing rear wheels after some speed. can you guys light me up whit this, totally lost at the moment:S

  • wow beautiful car. bet it handles amazingly. immaculate for a 91. good vid. great song, rjd2 is great

  • Prelude rocks <3, and nice movie editing tho like a movie director, i like it ;) as well as prelude and its rims :3

  • turning 90 degrees corner with 4ws is so fun

  • buddy of mine in high school had one of theses, and we would bend some serious corners in that car

  • what does the 4ws do for the car ?? i know its the steering but like how does it help it?

  • okay, travelling at high velocities, when you turn... it makes sharper turns ~ the tires dont have to skid and less friction occurs on the tires. if you have 2ws... almost any car in the world, you have to decrease speed to make a turn without any chirping. with 4ws, you could maintain almost the same speed you we going at without any chirping. okay basically its all about speed, speeding through turns without having to make two shifts down, either constant gear, or one shift down just tobe safe

  • maaannn.... and too bad alot of cars dont have this anymore!!!

  • and if your all into drifting and power sliding..... basically you could win against a stock impreza and stock evo lancer in a corner race.

  • cool :]]]

    thats an awesome advantage!

  • That year prelude was the only car ever to be produced with mechanical 4WS, even cars that say they have it (92 Preludes, 3000gt vr4's, and some of the 240's) it's all electrical and don't work nearly as well as the Ludes

  • ohh so it wouldnt matter if you had it anyways huh lol?

  • They still work just the same, some are more prone to breakdown is all.

  • well maybe thats a bit excessive, those two cars have way more power. You cant even compare them.

  • Did all Preludes from this era come with 4WS or was it an option?

  • Option. Rare actually.

  • hmm...interesting.

i think i might get one...

  • More like rare to find one in good condition than to find a 4ws beat up

  • everytime I watch this It seems as though I'm watching a car commercial, it's brilliant.

  • cooll

whats the name of that song?

  • Band: RJD2, song: Ghostwriter

  • Its so cooool!

  • i got me one of these now just in white :]]

    FREE!

  • I love these every time I see one I only can think.. I want one sooooooooo bad but its hard to find a 4WS one in decent shape

  • Does anyone know where to get spares for this car, in particular the plastic piece between the rear lights with the prelude logo and also rear bumper. Help

  • I want some!

  • I'm not jealous though because I have one of those in Grenada Black pearl and it is a mans mans inexpensive intelligent little sports car

  • that just looks like something that would break and put you into a tree. this is why we have rear wheel drive cars ladies and gents.

  • yeah i bet you have fun in the snow too

  • kupuje nie długo prelude IV generacja

  • Oh and is there any rust on the car? (e.g. Honda Cancer)

  • none at all. washington/arizona car. garaged all its life never driving in the winter.

  • Yo what song did you use in the video?

  • Good so honda's can realy look a like shoping kart now!

  • hahahahahhahahahahahahaha i get it!!!.....shutup

  • dude have u driven a Honda prelude cause the only people who bash it have never driven a Honda Prelude

  • imsure is a nice famly car to drive but ill stick to my stang

  • ill stick your "stang" (or as I call them shitstaings) to my preludes taillights haha

  • who said anything about it being stock??

theres almost nothing in that motor that is stock :-P its not even boosted and I leave most mustangs in the dust

  • oh yea... and I dont race in a straight line... I race on bends.... 4 wheel steering really gives you an advantage in high speed turning
