Gotta say it's pretty fucking stupid using an amp with this much power and being half a step away from it I've got a pos crate amp and I have to be 3 or 4 good steps away and another 3 or 4 with my effects
@alexisd3Randall went under some...changes (That's putting it mildly...). Darrell didn't like this, and didn't like what was going on with the products. That is why.
i bett anyone on here this amp will never come out it was due out in june09 why not say a year from this am i wondering if the backlash on the dime name is causing a delay people bitch cause they say dean is milking dimes name and legasy
sounds awesome and replicates dimes tone but thats it for anyone wanting there own tone go fish , this is also a solid state amp (as dime preffered) unless your in a tribute band then stear clear!
The amp is not limited to Dime's tone. The amp is in a nut shell a higher gain Randall RG100ES/HT. A lot of bands were getting wicked sounds out of them when they were around in the Glam days.
That's like saying if a play a Laney I'll only be able to sound like Tony Iommi, or if I use a JCM 2555, I'll only be able to sound like Slash!
i do see your point , personaly im not into signature gear i can see the appeal , but this amp realy is too personal , for example the sound that is acheived is realy on the dot for dime but i cant see anyone being able to develop their own sound with out everytime they put the drive channel on the crowd thinking "RIP dimebag"
@kkdav1 It was a natural progression from the junk that Washburn was making to honest to goodness rock and roll amplification. Dime was moving his tone forward.
Darrell used Randall's since he was a teenager. The RG100ES, RG100HT, then Century 200, then back to the RG. Also collecting many other amps, and even having some cool prototypes. Also he used some different tube amps for cleans. He even had a signature amp the Warhead, and Warhead X2. When DP started he had a bunch of gear. Amps like Titans, and stuff. I can't remember what the album was done with.
He didn't use Kranks until close to the end after they sent him one to play with.
That is what I said, if you want to get technical, he had modified Revs. "Hot rodding the hot rod" as he said. Those mods later became the Krankenstein.
Using the Krank "a lot," was because at that point he was endorsed. The album was done with Randall's though!
On all the other vidoes of this people are saying that Dean is kind of rapeing Dimes legacy by doin this amp. I kind of agree with them to a point,, but you would think that people would view this as chance to get an awesome piece of gear. The Randall RG100 was awesome, this is basicly an RG100 with a different name. I know that im gonna get one. And you would think that people would be excited to see this piece of gear back on the market for a decent price.
Krank doesn't make this style of amp, and Randall doesn't seem to be playing up that game anymore. In more recent years they did have amps like the Cyclone, Titan, Warhead, Warhead X2, and a couple others you can get, that will voice similar to the RG's, and Century.. I want a Cyclone myself. Its pretty much a Warhead, but easier to find, and doesn't have the jacked up price.
The original designer was Gary Sunda who designed all the most popular Randall amps including the RG80, RG100, etc. Dean hired him to design this new Dime amp.
Well, it's hard to nail "dime's" tone. Seriously, he had several. The "Dean" amp sounds fine and close to his overall sound. It's a fine amp but for me, when I think of "Dime's" sound I think Randall amps and Washburn guitars like he had played during FBD, GSTK, and the last Pantera album and the live one. At the end, he played Krank amps and dean guitars. The amp sounds fine, but I jus think they are capitalizing on Dime's name.
not even his most faithful guitar tech? I think Grady would want to do some justice to his lost friend. I don't think he'd make some crap and put Dime's name on it like the Dean company is.
I watched him do the demo and i can say its pretty legit, priced right too. Sounded better than in this video. It wouldn't be my main rig but It'd be fun to have as a second amp.
Gotta say it's pretty fucking stupid using an amp with this much power and being half a step away from it I've got a pos crate amp and I have to be 3 or 4 good steps away and another 3 or 4 with my effects

that amp sounds like the monster himself..
evergreenrocks 3 years ago
Not TOTALLY correct. He did pretty much always have a tube amp of some sort for cleans. Carvin's, Fender's, amps like that.

No, a half stack $700. The full stack $1050.

That amp is a joke, seriously.
Solid state is for beginners and practice
Not for REAL amps
If u want real, try Peavey 6505/5150 or a Mesa Boogie Recto
or hell any high gain with TUBES
ultimateguitar553 3 years ago
stop pretending you know everything about amps.
dime used solid state all his life up until he started using krank shortly before he died.

fenderstrat6485 1 year ago
is it tube or solid,
i wonder why krank isnt suing not that i want them to just curious
JGBEK 3 years ago
It is SS. Its a "hot-rodded RG100ES." The original amp Darrell used before going to the Century. Well, it was a RG100HT, but same thing...
Spinnygrass 3 years ago
it sounds good, but i'd personally need to tweak the eq on it. cleans sounded a tad gritty.
