Despite his age, Bruson still gives an impressive interpretation and performance. Bravo. Also Daniela Dessi. I very much like her as Tosca. As for Armiliato, I was first shocked when I heard him, because he sounds so different to the other Cavaradossi's I know. Nevertheless, I start to like him. :)
I've heard Armiliato in this part in la bastille. The voice was a bit too small in this bad big room but in a right place I think his cavaradossi is really nice. A lot of subtilities. His voice is probably not sexy enough to be a very popular singer, but he is a real artist.
Franco Farina´s voice was big enough in la Bastille when I heard him there and I think Armiliato has very same kind of voice. I´m surprised if it was too small..?
well done! i agree, basta! with the comparison. how much more volume do you want from Armiliato? I hear him just fine on this clip. besides, it's singing NOT barking...
well done! basta...with the comparison. we should just appreciate the singers that we have today. besides, it's singing! NOT barking. how much more volume do you want from Armiliato?
I don't understand why we have always to compare a singer of today with a singer of the past: Fabio Armiliato is today one of the best tenor of our time. There is really no need for comparisons.
@imaginesrl because with the great recordings from the past a person can have a most exciting Thrill, hear the best that recorded in history, hear how beautiful and how thrilling the human voice can be,and for little or no money , unlike going to the MET paying $200.00 and put yourself at very high risk of hearing really bad singing and bad boring voices. The recorded audio record gives us a fine choice. If we could hear live what we can hear from recorded history ,now THAT would be IT!
Indeed - this "VITTORIA" is outstanding, otherwordly. But listen on the other side this mezzavoce and diminuendo on "oh, dolci baci" and "disciogliea dai veli!" in E LUCEVAN LE STELLE. FABIO doesn't sing Cavaradossi, he IS Cavaradossi, as if Puccini had written this role for him.
The most incredible "VITTORIA" since Corelli. What a performance. I heard Armiliato in Rome live last year in TOSCA and at that moment the audience broke in an enthusiastic ovation. Great and unforgettible as well as in this video. Thank you for posting.
Bruson e' sempre un cantante eccellente!

Small voice, quite poor. A second range tenor, in tune. Good to sing in Bologna, or Pisa. Or Roma, since they let Bocelli sing Carmen.

@manliofini Oh come on, .. best since Corelli? Kaufmann is much closer to Corelli, and still quite far away from him.
Pawelp 1 year ago
@Pawelp Kaufmann is using microphones, my friend. I know it from people who worked with him in a production of Fidelio. A great pity.

@AfroPoli That is so hard to believe, but it might very well be my ignorance.
