Girls especially dilute ones are far more friendly than the agouti which is rather strange. The baby boy I have who is about 10 weeks old now comes and sits on your shoulder and doesnt run off, you can walk anywhere with him, although now he is getting faster I wouldnt recommend. I answered the door to the Dominos pizza man and he looked at me rather oddly, maybe its because a had Theador on my shoulder at the time he he.
I have a bunch of chipmunks that live outside of my house, despite my efforts, I can't get their trust enough to feed them or get anywhere near them... any ideas?
Well... I don't recommend making them tame as it might make them more likely to hang around predators and get eaten. I actually spend time making them wild again before I release them. :) I'm glad you enjoy your chipmunks!
Chipmunks in the wild are not that bad if they are tame. Although trust me it will never happen :P Mine in my aviary are very tame but its taken about a year to get the very skittish agouti boys to take a mealworm from my hand.
Should not use them wheels they are dangerous for chipmunks as they go so fast they can get crushed between the stand and the pieces of metal which hold the wheel on. Use a wheel which attaches onto the side of the cage even if they are not that good, they prevent the chippy hurting themselves as I found out.
awesome! ^.^ they are very pretty unlike squirrels... i bet that squirrel was jealous it only got a fraction of the camera time hehe anyway cooL! :D
