@ameliekrone Thanks! The Hogwarts stuff we got at a costume store, same with the beard and Jeff's orange wig. Everything else we had around the house.
WHAT IS THE RED HEADS NAME?? i thought you were amazing!!! the whistling at the beginning blew me away because i cant whistle and very few people i know can whistle xD. Chords were amazing and i loved it!!!!! good job guys <3
I'm a little surprised at the obsession over the whistling. I expected a few comments - It's really impressive and cool, we should be used to the idea that we could do amazing stuff with voices + digital effects, right? But where are the comments about this awesome arrangement, fantastic singing and hilarious video? Were you entertained? I surely was :-)
@Dinkyswingle To me, that part lost any semblance of being vocal. I was not entertained for the first half because I was distracted and jarred by this. And I've heard plenty of "produced" a cappella. The second half was impressive, though.
I don't care whether they used technology to edit the whistling or not - it's still great a cappella! And in no way does using auto-tune or other software make a track recorded with voices alone not a cappella. A cappella is defined as music without the use of any instrument. Kudos to Overboard on yet another amazing FTT song and funny video!
This is in fact edited whistling... It was chopped up and put in sequence just like any type of rhythm editing. Everything is done with vocals down to the record scratch during the break.
Impressive but you've post processed sounds there to alter it, you cannot possibly make all those noises just like that with just your mouth. The bell part is clearly edited whistling.
Unaccompanied singing does NOT equate a capella. Sorry, this is great but NOT a capella.
A Capella is supposed to be the human voice, and nothing else. Any post processing, besides the initial mixing needed to combine everyone's part, should not happen.
Granted, the historical a capella has instruments doubling voice parts... but the current usage of the word implies no instruments, or processing.
Amazing!! All your videos are incredible :)
I've got a question: Where did you get your costumes?

Basically - the trick of this video is sound editing. Good software, high quality microphones, and multiple takes.
adambleedsgreen 8 months ago
This is truly astounding. I can't actually believe that the beginning bit is vocal - it sounds so much like the original track.

The wind chimes @ 1.35 is a sample, not vocal.

That first part that sounds like bells...that's all vocal, too? How do they do that?
SabrinaStranger 8 months ago
@SabrinaStranger I'd also be interested to know how the intro was achieved. It can't just be simple whistling, can it?
redsoxmb545 8 months ago
@SabrinaStranger whistling?
abaraiRenji3 8 months ago
@SabrinaStranger
No, that's a celeste. Definitely not vocals. The fact that they've put people on screen is a very cheap tactic.
