being chamoru is not a choice its a way of life...just because some chamorus live in the states now dont mean that dont know how to be chamoru..though some chamorus that live in the states are matapang,banidosu or po hasu. thats not all chamorus living out here in the states. i am chamhaole living in texas born and raised on guam joined the military..my mom is white but can speak the language. so im proud of who i am and where i come from no matter where im at." I'm a state side born Chamorro..Dad was in the Navy, and I was born at the Naval Hosipital in San Diego....Both my parents were born in Guam...They have both passed away, but I always understood our language, as long as my parents and visiting relatives slowed it down a little...I still can cook some of our island food, but miss my Dad's cooking...I am proud to be Chamorro, and I attend Pacific Islander functions here in California

At least you can understand your language and continue with your tradition and culture. There are more Chamorro in the mainland US then there are in Guam.
