In this case he doesn't have the nuts, but he still has the nut flush.

All this time I had it wrong. I was trying to figure out what my opponent had on the turn and river, but all the while it was just improper checking. If I knew I had to announce it, I wouldn't have been throwing all those chips in the middle when I meant to check.

the term "nut flush" means the best flush, in other words, the one with the highest kicker.

If You have Ace 4 of clubs, and there are 3 clubs on the board, you have the nut flush.

If you have King 4 of clubs, and there are 3 clubs on the board, including the Ace, you have the nut flush.

Actually the "nut flush" has to incorperate the ace. The nut hand means the highest possible hand in a situation. If you have K 4 of clubs and 4 clubs hit the flop (even if no one actually holds the A and another club) you don't have the nuts because you don't have the highest possible flush. Has nothing to do with your kicker what so ever. Kickers have nothing to do with anything other than a pair, 2 pair, or trips.

Your 2 examples are right but you explanation is wrong.
