You can do this anywhere ther are stairs or a steep slope that you can build on. I've on occasion got bored of my team being useless and done this with two teleporters and watched my team go through it - cruel but fun.

They will leave any team mate stuck.

Sentries and dispensers work, this is most likely because your not expected to teleport inside them and you get stuck in the very bottom layer of the buildings not the rest of it.

Team mates cannot walk through teleporters, just build it at the top of a set of stairs - they'll have to jump over it - another reason why you walk over teleporters not through them when they're on the ground.

Actually, if you crouch when going through the teleporter, then the sentry's hitbox might protect you, turning the sentry into armor for you. The problem is that you can't get a dispenser there, so you're doomed to sit there until you run out of metal.
