Use the whip up to get on your side. Most guys will be smashing you enough that you can't just wriggle up to your elbow, in my experience. Great sweep though

matwizard isn't wrong at all, the overhook is a good counter to this sweep. But there are other options when the opponent does this, and I'm sure the teacher would go over such a situation.

before he steps over with his left foot he should grapevine his right leg around his left real tight to even it up ... i think that would work cuz their legs match up
