In terms of "great songs", with the exception of FNM, Patton's material hasn't had the same mainstream appeal as bands like The Bee Gees but if I understand him, he's never tried to do that. He makes his living pushing boundaries and for that he'll be greatly respected by a relative select few for years to come instead of being looked up to for a few years then disappearing.
