  • So I used to be Christian, but to me.. it was just bullocks. As a kid i didn't understand why we have to "pray" to an invisible person that I cannot see. I never got anything out of it besides 2 hrs of my time that I could have been spending doing my homework . In my eyes it was a waste. They cannot provide physical proof that he did exist, we can't prove he didn't. (Not to my knowledge at least) So Idk I've had ppl try and talk me into converting.. and to no avail cuz its just... bullocks.

  • ATHEISTS!!! i NOTICED YOUR ALL CIRCLE JERKING ASS FUCKING DICK SUCKING FAGGOTS!!!

  • @atheistdestroyer1 "ATHEISTS!!! i NOTICED YOUR ALL CIRCLE JERKING ASS FUCKING DICK SUCKING FAGGOTS!!!"

Ah, feel all that Christian love, joy, and tolerance. LOL So is this what I should expect to feel if I were to accept Christ...bitterness, anger, and hate??

And interesting username. But is this really how you expect to destroy atheists, with immature diatribes like this. Learn what a syllogism is, dude!

  • hey dude! i'm over here!

  • do you record these shows with a gameboy ??

  • that dude is like always writing something, always wondered what it was

  • 8:24

It's a lowercase 't', for 'time to leave!' XD

  • It is really sick that people treat others like that when they complain about public prayer. That is why many atheists stay in the closet, they legitimately fear for their lives.

It's sad that people act as such.

  • damn all the reformed christian does have more charisma than these two types do, get yourself a real spindoctor

  • I am german and i have never seen those curios TV preachers with their TV preaching shows you Americans supposeddly have... but this is what i have allways suspected them to look like (-:

  • ok iam from germany too and i have seen those^^

In the morning from 7:30 to 9:30 on "das vierte".

    Living Gospel.

  • "We promote the philosophy of Atheism."

Huh...isn't philosophy technically...religion? Besides, why declare yourself "atheist" at all if you don't believe in a God or Creator? Those things don't exist to you, so there's no need to "counteract" other people's beliefs by some silly title that atheists carry. The real reason is...they secretly can't stand it that other people believe in something on than what these people say. So basically atheists promote hatred by hating those of faiths.

  • there is nothing wrong in hating an idea, religion is nothing more than an idea, just like Communism, Nazism, neoliberalism, democracy, etc. We have all the right in the world to counterattack ideas. You probably can't stand the idea of communism because you probably believe its harmful to society for the same way we can't stand religion

  • Actually, there IS something wrong with hating something that is claimed to be an idea, when you have absolutely no proof of it being an 'idea.' I call that lying. As with all things in this world, you can't look at the mass of what other people are doing to determine what is right.

I could give up on the world and say, "The law is bad because criminals break the law, therefore following the law and the principle of the law itself is bad." Is it? No. It seems taht way if I watch criminals.

  • Yet others who support the typical laws in this world that are set in place to keep peace and order...are mocked by the criminals and those who hate the law.

The same issue exists with 'religion.' An original and genuine one that is absolutely real, and a whole bunch of fakes with hypocrites. People look at all of the fakes and the odd religious practices and do the same thing as the above example. "Some do this, some do that, so all religions must be wrong.'

  • So, the issue is not "all religions are wrong." The issue is, 99.9% are wrong and you have to find what exactly IS the right one that actually accomplishes something and has purpose beyond something stupid like worshipping a statue.

I don't know about you, but I don't let what "the masses" of the world follow affect what I believe and follow. Criminals think I'm a loser for following the laws of man. So what. People hate me for being Christian, because they hate other religions. So what?

  • But what I see is people pick only the bad and won't see anything "good" at all. Just negative. So of course, in my own beliefs: Critics look at bad pastors, priests, etc. and try to squeeze everything bad they can out of those certain people to make it a public spectacle to the world to "show how the religion itself is." One question: Do criminals make the laws they break void and bad, because they break them and hate them? No, they just mean they'll do whatever they want no matter what.

  • So because some pastors do crazy things and all kinds of Christians in history have messed up left and right - that doesn't make Christianity 'void' by any means. Assuming that "all Christians/churches are that way" by other people's examples isn't a good assumption. Any more than it voids the laws of man because criminals who mean to do wrong refuse to follow those laws. That's how it goes. For what is good, there will be something bad trying to counter it and make it nonproductive.

  • you just confessed that you pick the parts of the bible that seems more pleasant and moral for you to follow and dismiss the parts that tells you to kill your son if he disobeys, or kill people for working on the sabbath, seems you're picking why not call it something else ? after all you're not following the supposed law of god as you were supposed to.

  • hating an idea is one thing, acting on the basis of hating an idea is another. Just because one is for life doesn't mean that one can bomb an abortion clinic, you fight ideas with other ideas. Religion is an idea of how you should live your life, just because some deluded people believe that god told them to live their lives this way does not give them special treatment, or at least shouldn't in any civilized society

  • Ha, God doesn't do things the way we do. His ways are unexplainable by us. If we could explain God, He would BE God.

  • hrm. I know what i'd prefer in my life and it sure isn't anything this lot goes on about. I feel sorry for them but i guess everyone needs to respect what people do, or rather dont, believe in

  • I do not know why atheists are so determined to remove any mention of religion from public life. If I were an unbeliever, I would not resent a parade that promoted solidarity between religious groups or even the display of a Christmas nativity scene on a public building. Surely to an atheist these ideas provide passing amusement. Why are they determined to remove what they do not understand from rational inquiry? Tensions between us would be reduced if people handled these problems differently.

  • Well we want to rid society from religion; because religion is the bane of society, on the following grounds:

1.They stiffle the progress of science, i.e Stem Cell Research, etc

    2.They advocate censorship

    3. They condenm us rational people, tellin us we are going to Hell,(And all religions have a version of it), simply because we don't believe in fairy tales.

    3. They oppose everything fun, (As long as I am not comiting crimes or hurting somebody, stay off my life.)

    We are only reacting.

  • To MalarkeyPN, aajoeyjo, Duckhugger and others:

I am directly involved with the production of "Atheist Viewpoint" and I just wanted to thank you for your constructive criticism.

  • ellen is a hottie.

She may not believe in a god

but I'd could sure make her

scream his name!!! Atheist 4 life !!!!!

there is no excuse for being right!!!

  • He is risen!

  • ur mom loves to watch The Atheist Viewpoint ...;)

  • yeah, she watches some pretty stupid shit

  • well its very wise ;) ur just following some old customs you need to be advanced and be more open minded .....

  • you have no idea

  • most people who (correctly) use the 'God is Dead' line from Nietzsche, refer to the death of the ideals that the religion was supposedly founded upon, not the death of a being that an atheist dosen't believe in to begin with. besides, if this being is omnipotent and omniscient, then what could cause 'his' death?

lack of faith? NO, "he" was supposedly around before people so how is that relevant?

but unlike most people in the world I don't believe in magic, from any source, divine or otherwise.

  • Ellen is cute, and all but, she's not a very good anchorman.

    Either way: AMERICAN ATHEISTS UNITE!!

    Life time member since '77.

  • She's kinda hot.

  • Ellen Johnson has confided in a private meeting of the Human Power Elite, that she does not believe in God, only because she believes that God is dead. We also have a picture of Ellen Johnson giving pills to a man in a brown tie.

  • dick , BULLSHIT! Ellen does not believ in god , because she thinks he's dead,,she just is a rational human.

  • Quit playing with yourself, oohh thats your jesus doll in your anus.

  • Hey moron your picking on the wrong guy. Your a little dweeb who tries to be macho on you tube because you would get whipped out here in the real world so you hide behind your computer and act like you actually have balls.Your nothing but a dweeb bwahhahahahahah

  • ... americans

  • Ouch. These folks have good intentions but they're making atheists look very... umm... sloppy.

  • MalarkeyPN---How? Please be specific, because we Atheists are honest enough to admit our mistakes, and address them. I see this particular Atheist show as being one of the most professional shows put on by Atheist groups. It's also one of the longest-running. About 10 years now.

  • Well, I didn't expect that this show was long-running and I'm surprised to hear that it's held in high regard. The reporter and the guest seem unprofessional and unprepared. She was reading off of a paper that she'd apparently never seen before, and she related the part about the 't' as though she'd only heard about it in passing a couple days before... I'm an atheist too, but it seems like they should put a little more effort into this.

  • MalarkeyPN--Well I know what you mean. They don't want it to come off scripted. There's a certain obvious level of honesty when they pick up news items fresh and comment on them right then and there. It's also important to understand that there are only a handful of shows like this, and they are mostly volunteer jobs. If it was flashy, high-dollar, and overly produced, Atheists wouldn't like it.

  • That's true - there's a lot to be said about the fact that these are volunteers doing a public access show. In that sense, I probably shouldn't be expecting Koppel. And they do at least look like they're having fun, and they're comfortable enough in front of the camera to be casual. And they certainly don't need to be uptight to get the information across. But I do not expect many theists to be so forgiving... I just keep imagining hearing "they call this news!?" in mocking tones...

  • I don't think things need to be "over-produced" at all to come off more effectively. I do think their sound system is horrible. For years now I've heard a similar crackly humming sound that their mic system seems to give. picking up line-buzz and making things a bit hard to listen to. Really, I'd rather have smooth clear-quality sound than a fancy set any day. Perhaps American Atheists could find a quality sound engineer? Sound concerns should always trump picture concerns in video production!

  • I would generally agree that they should try to loosen up a bit and "rehearse"... not in the sense of figuring out everything they're going to say before hand... but they should familiarize themselves with the material repeatedly and go through various witty things they might be able to say, do, show, etc... think of good ways to present the information and entertain the audience. I value the service provided here, but I'll admit the presentation is somewhat flat.

  • The "reading off the paper" thing is definitely a big problem. You can get away with it in radio, but in tv it just looks awkward when someone is continually glancing down at a sheet of paper in front of them to read what they're presenting. I'd suggest that if they can't afford a teleprompter... they should get their scripts photocopy enlarged to poster size at Kinko's or such and have someone hold them off to the side of the camera so the hosts can look forward while reading.

  • im an atheist, but were not a "faith" were merely "Rational thinkers" thats all, not a religion, were just people whove learned religion is bullshit.

  • This is just another faith-based religion without a God. They're obsessed with and lobbying for their beliefs, as any religion.

  • Atheism: The LACK of a belief in a god or gods. How is that faith?

  • I would never say my atheism is a faith of any kind, but when I look at, say, Christopher Hitchens... well. He's just a gimp.

  • NYC Atheist Live ON TAPE. WTF? Live ON TAPE??

    Credibility gone.

  • dunc288---"Live on tape," is actually a bit of an inside joke. If you've never watched this show before, that's probably why you didn't get it. They just didn't fully explain it in this episode. They mention it in just about every episode though. It's ok...

  • We need a figurehead - how about Thomas Jefferson. Just to show the religious idiots we arent being un-American, but quite the contrary.

    Great work.

  • this doesnt show atheists in the best light, but i get were they're coming from, we need to seperate certain things from religion, and stop forcing religous beliefs on ppl, and practically scrownging around trying to turn ppl to be religous

  • One nation UNDER GOD! ok

  • UNDER GOD wasn't added until the 1950's, following a campaign by the knights of columbus, who are a catholic organization.

  • "One nation UNDER GOD! ok"

Not OK, and never was the case. That's the post.

  • God is imaginary, so it's ridiculous to try to gather everyone under God.

Then there's the issue of which God.. the God of Abraham, the God of the muslims, the God of the Christians, the saints and Mother Mary of the catholics, the prophets of the muslims...unless we can all agree, "divided we fall". So that's the reason for a secular government. You avoid the problem.

  • I'm not a religious person, but . . . aren't they basically functioning as a religion? They promote their beliefs & protect them through policy. I'd almost rather be a Christian than have to associate myself with these assholes.

  • Since they make no claim about what happens after you die, what happened before you lived, etc., I disagree. I guess it depends upon what you define religion as. Atheism will change its explanation depending upon evidence. Religion is what atheism would be if it made up a story and said it were true. It didn't, thus, it isn't.

  • I guess that's true . . . maybe I'm just anti-religion AND anti-anti-religion . . . if that's somehow possible.

  • haha exactly. Did you happen to see that south park episode?

  • Something else to consider: if you think of atheism as the end product of science, and religion itself has produced no scientific results, then one can hardly compare the two. I can pray all I want to recover from sickness, but if I see a doctor. . .

  • lol what great start...whats ur show called again :p

  • Thank you for posting this. I am subscribed to the podcast that provides the audio feed for this show but don't have access to public access version.
