What software (Premiere, Vegas, Final Cut) did you use for making this clip?how did you achieve edit the .MTS format? That really drives me crazy!! Did & do you need some kind of codec?
I use final cut 7 and premiere cs5.5 master edition. ( I use a MAC OSX)
@isuskaisuska hey, if you've fcp7 you could transcode .mts into apple pro res. Plug your camera to mac usb, open fcp7 and select file > "log &transfer".. you'll see all your clip, you need to set your preferences (prores hq, LT, proxy...) and then transcode into clips you could now simply edit.
I've been watching many videos shot with this CAM because I'm about to purchase one myself, your video is the over all best one I've come across so far.
Hmm, you edited it in FCP or? I use Vegas pro 11 myself but I actually thought that you did this edit in the camera itself and uploaded the "native" file to you-tube. I have no idea as of yet if I will be able to at least implement "smart rendering" in Vegas to avoid unnecessary re- compression...
@wwwBorsingPhotoCom yeah, after editing I've saved the video as mp4 with h264 compression.. but at too low bitrate to upload faster.. so you can see artifacts of compression. I can't edit directly in the camera. I think quality of full hd from this camcorder don't need any sharpen effetcs to show how colors and quality are beautiful.
I never played around with "correct" YouTube compression, supposedly getting that right, speeds things up since YouTube won't re-compress it, but that's what I've heard and I haven't worried about it further. Sharpening, deblock denoise etc is dealt with by the GPU on my ATI graphics card. I have yet to see any native video from the Sony CAM, the reason I'm interested in it is it's overall picture quality / functionality since no CAM is good at everything I will have to pick the best compromise.
I heard that YouTube won't re-compress it if "correct" compression is made prior to uploading, but I never worried about it, but that would certainly save some time. My Washington video (some 24 min) was 1.4 GB large so it took quite a while, not to mention the increased size due to lots of camera shake :o) I contacted Atomos (Ninja) to learn if the Sony HDR-CX700V's HDMI out would work with it, but frankly I don't think it will (it bypasses the internal compression and give you lossless ProRes)
My workstation (PC) currently have the ATI HD 5570 and do some edge sharpening etc (setting 10, default) even on online videos (only setting I've changed :)
Please! Answer, i need help. I have noticed with my cx700 that it sometimes have blurry edges on the video. if i watch full screen, its very noticeable and especially when image is shaking slightly. Is that a problem? or It's the way it should be because of wide 26mm angle lens? Because this camcoder is kinda expensive for me and i want it to be perfect, without any defects. and i can some on your video, especially on the first frames on the right-center.
@Gedifference It's normal for wide angle lenses some "blurry edges" but if you notice that usually on shots I think it's not normal. The main problem with my camcorder (and also for other users) is a sort of "water effect" or "waves" always noticeable at sun in auto mode.. when shutter speed is between 1/400 and 1/10000 and steadyshot is on there is this issue that I hope that sony fix soon with a firmware update

@wwwBorsingPhotoCom Thanks! This video was my first editing test with this wonderful camcorder and I compressed too much for upload in youtube

I see lots of use of several "manual" functions in this camera, nice...

Bellissimo video, bellissima cam!, peccato per quelle "ondine". Se non le aveva, era "perfetta", uffa!...

@AntonioFx89 Grazie! Anche se forse ho compresso fin troppo per youtube.. Per le "ondine" sono fiducioso che prima o poi si riesca a risolvere..
