As the mother of a young girl, just watching this brief clip has tears in my eyes. If anything happened to my daughter, I'd die. I'm glad they left this scene out because the tragedy of the Titanic was fully understood with what happened in the rest of the film, and I think seeing a child panic, unlike the Irish children in bed, would have distracted too many parents for the rest of the film. We know she died by seeing her in the last scene and by her doll's face in the sand at the beginning.
@2hoodz I am a mother who knows how to spell. "Your" implies ownership. "You're" is a contraction of "you are" and is the one you meant. Regardless, as a mother, the thought of a child drowning is a very difficult thing, even more so when the reason a child dies is due to not bring from a wealthy family.
@AriaStar zzzzzzzzzzz............ YOUR boring too.. yes i really meant a contraction of "you are". i wish we were on the Titanic together, i'd use your dead body as a raft.
@RoseDawsonTitanic Cora death was so wrong they should have shown her and her parents climbing on the stern of the ship with Jack and Rose and the rest of the Passangers.
@makosharkman Could have, but the rarity is that many children died. What happened on the Titanic was a tragedy, and many people died. This movie wasn't made to be a feel-good movie. It was made to show the tragedy that it was.
@adzii1 it is a little girl that jack is friends with ps i was watchinfg a deleted scene and she called him uncle jack but jack has no family as he claimed in the beggining of the movie
@jimmygirlxx She died, the ending scene showed everyone that died on that night and you can see Cora waving at Rose... it's a very harsh scene, but sadly, it's reality..
its hard and emotional enough when i saw the movie imagine if they added this scene OMG, i wouldve ended up crying more than i already was. This was a fate that shouldnt have been brought upon Cora.
Noo ! that's so sad . I loved Cora . Its terrible to see that that's how some people died on the ship . Because no one unlocked the gates . And its also terrible to know , that almost everyone from the third class died , especially the children . </3

Well god damnit I swear I have seen several movies where the everybody dies, the little kid dies........or becomes a zombie(I forgot the name of the movie but there are zombies in a prison and at the end only a chick is alive but then she gets sniped by a army dude.
I agree with the top comments but when you see this-it brings light to the realities in these tragedies & you realize with recent ones (Tsunami, Hurricane, Trade Center, etc.) how devastating it is-despite being a part of it or not. Unfortunately, some can be prevented, others cannot be controlled. :( For all the souls in any such tragedies, may peace & happiness be with you in you new eternal life. ~~(-@
i always thought rose was dreaming at the end. it would be wierd if she was fine and doing pottery at the beginning of the film and then all of a sudden, she dies after telling the story. but if she did die, im happy she got reunited with jack
I always thought her dying made the most sense. For almost her entire life she kept these memories inside her, telling no one, and now that she has finally told her story, she has made amends with herself in a way, she's finally free of her past, and is ready to move on (moving on being death) I feel that telling the story was the one thing she needed to do before she was truly free.
It's hard to tell whether it is Cora, with all the water rushing around and everything. If it didn't actually say Cora's death then I would have assumed it was the Allison family and the girl was Lorraine. Just because she was known to have gone down with the ship with her parents and that would explain who the woman was. Though not quite why they were in what looks like third class corridors not first.
@EverChangingShadow It is the character Cora and her parents that die. Lorraine Allison was only two years old when she died on the ship with her parents, the only non-third class child to perish in the disaster. 52 third-class children lost their lives with Titanic, although 57 first-class adult males survived. Awful.
@RoonJazz ah right. I should get my history straight. I knew Lorriane was the only first class child to die, plus the rumours of why her and her parents remained on the ship while baby Trevor didn't, but I thought Lorraine was bit older. And you're right it's awful how so many lives get valued on amount of money. I don't think anyone deserves to die whatever they've done or whatever they do or don't have. Every life is precious. But they just didn't see it that way then. Many still don't now.
It's always hard for people to watch a young child die in a movie. Even making a scene of a child dying is like a taboo. It was easy enough to assume what happened to Cora, her being a 3rd class passenger and all, but before this scene I was still keeping hope alive that maybe she survived somewhere. There were 3rd class citizens, though not many, on deck and in life boats.
@antjagger95 At the end Rose could be sleeping or something else. So I assumed she was dreaming. That scene didn't neccessarily mean all those people were dead, at least that's what I thought.
@JMBInuYasha That scene at the end is after Rose's death. Rose dies as an old lady the way Jack said she would, and then her afterlife is on the Titanic surronded by everyone else that died there.
@antjagger95 Cameron left the decision up to the audience. Whether Rose is sleeping or dead is a matter of opinion, and that scene can be interpreted both ways. I've always thought she was sleeping and dreaming. Wonderful ending either way its looked at.
@lexigirl1228 Rose or Cora? I already gave my reasons why I thought might have lived, and if I'm really the only one out of billions of people, that's something o.O
@lexigirl1228 That a compliment or insult? lol Anyway, I may have been the only one to think Cora might've still been alive, until I saw this scene, because some from 3rd class did get to the lifeboats. I was hoping she made it. However, I'm definitely not the only person to think Rose was still alive at the end and just dreaming.
@Jacindarosa No, he wasn't. She called him that because it was just an affectionate term for someone she befriended. I've seen in several movies. tv shows, movies and in real life where a kid would call somebody 'uncle' and it wasn't actually their uncle.
i believe the only child in first class to die was the one which belonged to mr and mrs Allison who's baby boy was taken to a life boat by the nanny, but she failed to inform them she had taken him. so they refused to leave the boat until they found him. but as you know, they never found him and them and their daughter went down with the ship.
A bunch of third-class children died, one first-class. But if memory serves, every second-class child actually survived... Interesting thought, isn't it? I'll check Wikipedia.
In Panama City Beach they have a place that has Titanic information. They have a place where you can put your hand into the water that's the same temperature the water was when the Titanic went down. I could barely keep my hand in there for more than ten seconds. I can't imagine what a horrible death that would be. This scene is so sad, I wish there weren't real deaths on the Titanic just like it. :/
@FunPuff1998 FYI They locked in the third class in real life. They did it because there wasn't enough lifeboats for them and they wanted 2nd and 1st class first. There are some people that make me sick.
@SagerIgestar no, that's not why the gates were locked. the gates were most likely locked prior to the collision w/ the iceberg to keep the 3rd class passengers down in their little area, and that carried over into the sinking. a lot of the crew on the ship was also inexperienced (not to mention panicked and under tons of pressure) and also had really no idea what to do.
OMG it so sad i started crying imagine being the parents having to watch your child die right in front of you! knowing she had her whole life ahed of her she looked only like 7 she could have been a doctor or vet or a teacher WHYYYY ITS SOO SAD I COULDNT WATCH IT RIP to every soul who dided that tragic night
@LadyJay114 Unless its historical. In "Schindler's List", Spielberg wanted to be accurate of the actual Holocaust, so they had to put child-killing in it to demonstrate the sadness and cruelty. But, yes, if it's fiction, it's definitely not a good look.
@LadyJay114 Actually, this doesn't show death. If You take a closer look, You will notice Cameron is very careful in showing death. From all 1500 victims, he only shows the exact moment of death 3 times. It's the electrified man and 2 men who jump off the ship. One of them bounces off the rudder, the other one smashes the water from 100 ft above.
Cora and her family drowned. It was an example of how children were subjected to the horror when Titanic sank. Most of the children in 3rd class perished and a good amount in middle class. Simply because the rich were first priority and the lifeboats weren't completely filled. In the original cut you see a mother (I'm not sure if Cora's in particular) tucking her children into bed knowing that they wouldn't get off the boat. The mother says a prayer and then you assume they die.
I know why they cut it out. That's heavy stuff

@FunPuff1998 FYI They locked in the third class in real life. They did it because there wasn't enough lifeboats for them and they wanted 2nd and 1st class first. There are some people that make me sick.
SagerIgestar 4 months ago
@SagerIgestar no, that's not why the gates were locked. the gates were most likely locked prior to the collision w/ the iceberg to keep the 3rd class passengers down in their little area, and that carried over into the sinking. a lot of the crew on the ship was also inexperienced (not to mention panicked and under tons of pressure) and also had really no idea what to do.

You can never show a child dying in a movie... its not a good look
LadyJay114 5 months ago 58
@LadyJay114 Unless its historical. In "Schindler's List", Spielberg wanted to be accurate of the actual Holocaust, so they had to put child-killing in it to demonstrate the sadness and cruelty. But, yes, if it's fiction, it's definitely not a good look.
MinamuTV 4 months ago
@LadyJay114 ? You haven't watched many movies because they've shown MUCH worse...truth is a lot of children in third class perished on that ship.
rockndude87 3 months ago
@LadyJay114 Actually, this doesn't show death. If You take a closer look, You will notice Cameron is very careful in showing death. From all 1500 victims, he only shows the exact moment of death 3 times. It's the electrified man and 2 men who jump off the ship. One of them bounces off the rudder, the other one smashes the water from 100 ft above.
If I forgot about someone, please fix me.

Wait, so how did she die?
iLoveeLifee1 5 months ago
@iLoveeLifee1
The mother says a prayer and then you assume they die.
danceblast15 5 months ago
@danceblast15 actually none of the kids in second class dies. Third Class and First but for some reason second didn't die.... It's weird look it up
mexicanlari 5 months ago
@danceblast15 no all the children in 2nd class were saved.
