  • would you fucking turn on the audio!!

  • i remember doing a race with my dad in this course, i PWNED him!!!!!

  • model 3 now emulated /watch?v=SyfATYr-VZI

  • stereo sound with this shit of music

  • Holy shit! I remembered this GAME! Very similar gameplay to Daytona USA.

    -KT

  • what ur favorite car in the game? :D

  • yes.havent u seen that everyone that does this course messes up on the last corner. first time i played i spun out there.

  • amazing how far emulation has come along. when I was a kid I would dream of even owning or being able to buy or download such games (56k modem).

  • It was a long time ago. I still remember it as if it were yesterday

  • Ahhh at my middle school, we had a SCUD Race tournament. This track has a special place in my heart; it was my most epic win of the torunament, next to the championship win itself. On the last lap, I was tailing the leader, and I managed to get by him. Fearing that I would lose too much speed from the grinding, I shoved him into the pits and won the race :D

  • @UNpilot15 sounds epic. i fliped across the finish line just in front of the leader and won

  • @PttyBlue43 After winning the championship, I got an awesome prize: A $40 Best Buy giftcard, and hugs from ALL of the girls watching (there were like 25 of em) XD. I still play this game at my local arcade today every now and again. How did you flip across the finish line?

  • @UNpilot15 i spun out on the last corner and while i was sideways i got hit in the side and flipped

  • @PttyBlue43 epic win. i'd be flipping out and like "oh my God did thaat really happen?" if that happened to me lol

  • @UNpilot15 to me this is the best track. has the perfect music. and driving a Ferrari f40 gt.when i won nothing good happened. until i left it was just me and the machine

  • @PttyBlue43 lol

  • Just imagine playing this at 60fps and looking somewhat better than the video (non-perfect emulation) when the best looking game on PC was Quake and the best looking console game was Pilotwings64 (depending on your tastes).

  • imagine how arcade games could look today if they used the best pc hardware. but sadly arcades are dead.

  • @nooblet911 hell, Model 3 utilized tech sold to Sega worth millions of dollars per unit, according to a recent Yu Suzuki interview. Imagine how arcade games could look today if the hardware blew the highest end PC money could buy out of the water.

  • yeah, like current tech demos or even better

  • @JigenD Screamer in SVGA wasn't that far from this and the graphics look quite similar. Just no PC could run it smoothly at that resolution, let alone 60fps. VGA mode could run at 60fps though. Need for Speed also looked quite decent on PC.

  • @ojideagu Naa, Screamer wasn't even remotely close in lighting, textures, or polygon counts. Today they seem similar because both are below today's standards, but back then you could tell the incredibly large difference easily.

  • @JigenD There was already Ridge racer, Daytona USA and Sega Rally in 1993 so we were already

use to graphics like this 3 years earlier. Those games did amaze people. By the time

Scud came out it was nothing amazing to see.

Screamer wasn't as detailed but we never saw it in SVGA mode at 60fps until

    the Pentium 2 came out.

  • @ojideagu None of those games came close to SuperGT though. Daytona USA and Sega Rally were a full arcade generation (model 2) beyond SuperGT (model 3). Again, it is a similar scenario, Daytona USA and Daytona USA2 (also on model 3 hardware) may see similar by today's perspective, but at the time the difference was immediate and huge.

I was a huge fan of Daytona USA before I ever saw SuperGT, and SuperGT was definitely the best looking game at its release by an order of magnitude.

  • @JigenD In terms of arcades, The amazement of 3D racing games had already past by the time Scud came out. Yes Scud looks better but it wasn't THAT much better to make the general public notice much.

But it does look very good I agree.

However the Dreamcast is was more powerful then the Scud machine Model 3, and that only came out 2 years later in 1998. Any failure to show this was down to programming.

Ridge Racer compared to Virtua Racing made everyone notice big time.

  • @JigenD I think that was pretty amazing for a home console only 2 years after Scud to be more powerful!

The Dreamcast was a Sega Naomi machine with half the ram and graphics memory.

It's just a shame so many games did not make use of it's power or program it properly.

Many Model 3 ports were sloppy.

  • @ojideagu -

Naomi also had more tile-rendering units I think. it was a scalable rasterizer.

  • @JigenD Although Model 3 could have up to 64 MB graphics Rom, that was it's advantage over the Dreamcast sadly. Scud must use quite a large graphics rom.

There is a tech demo of Scud for the Dreamcast, but the game was never released.

  • @ojideagu Yes I agree,

The games for model 3 were emlatuted on Bart Trzynadlowski and Nik Henson's emlator,

but it demands a high overclocked computer.

  • lol i didnt think games look this GOOD in 1996!!!

  • @appleman1324 they didn't, this was the only one!

  • RR FTW

Anyway, they obviously are license or not. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they are based off the Lotus Espirit. Just like every car in Tokyo Xtreme racer up to 3 were obviously real cars but weren't branded because of licensing.

  • @TailsSR yep

  • I remember this game pretty damn good.

  • I had spend a lot of money for playin` this awesome game. ^^

  • Do you know how many quarters i spent on this game????! good times....

  • use core i7 and latest video card and more ram to more performace

  • looks cool man, must try this one out, ty 4 the upload!

  • I remember this being shown as a tech demo for the Dreamcast, but Sega announced it wouldn't be released on the new console because it was too old. What did we end up with? Daytona USA. Not even Daytona 2. Just a game even older than Scud Race. And not even that good a conversion.

  • this looks better than split-second

  • Shame the DC version was scrapped.

  • And this is where the Supercar in Burnout 2 was inspired from.

  • @RikMcCloud No. This car is real. In fact, it's called a Ferrari F40. That is where the car in burnout was inspired from.

  • @CarsandCoffeeIrvine That's what I meant.

  • @CarsandCoffeeIrvine yep every car in this game is real cept the DRONE cars

  • @soulcalibur22 Actually the cpu machines are Lotus Espirits. Which are real.

  • @TailsSR No real license, They generic like ridgeracer cars. (no disrespect I'm an RR fan too) The only real license is for Ferrari, Dodge, Porsche, Mclaren, Doesn't matter what they are based on when u have to "draw the lights upside-down" (or something else) they are NOT Lotuses.

  • @soulcalibur22 correct

  • THEY SHOULD HAVE THIS GAME FOR THE XBOX 360. Dahm Microsoft!

  • @SeannyQ92 we'll always have the internet to download it to our computer

  • @SeannyQ92 I dont think the Xbox 360 can handle it.

  • @SeannyQ92 lol how is this microsofts fault sega drags its legs on EVERYTHING They should have got the people who made outrun to do this game i dont even know why they put the OUTRUN track in the game and not a FERRARI from the game DUH!!! lol

  • Why wasn't this game ported to any home systems? Would've made a great Dreamcast launch title!

  • I find it amazing for 1996 !

  • dreamcast can do this

  • whats the name of the race game where some tracks had loops like a rollercoaster? i know it was for pc

  • The music used to give me the chills when playing this on the super delux sitdown

cabinet never really got Ridge Racer or Daytona USA but Scud Race made an immediate impact

  • Pleass can some one help me how i can get a emulator? so i can play this game

  • Hello, where i can find the Model 3 emulator? Thanks!!

  • Anyone know if they fixed model 3 emulation on the latest MAME? 0.136 released on Valentines Day

  • Sounds like the same place who sings the Sonic R levels.

  • What button do you to use to activate the fraps?

  • where can i get the sound track to this game ?

i use to love this game

  • Search "Galbadia Hotel" in Google, click in the first link, and go to "MP3s".

  • how can you drift?

  • Brake, Steer and Gas

  • what there was 3D in 1996. lol jk. I doubt Sega had any idea it was going to be played on such an advanced platform. Of course we are thinking the same now. Nice.

  • I was informed that SEGA MODEL 3 emulation was restored in the latest version of MAME. However, my MODEL 3 roms do not work in 129 or 130, however they do in 119. So is this guy telling the truth, or is he having me on? Is it really possible to emulate MODEL 3 on latest MAME versions?

  • No. Model3 emulation has been discontinued past 0.119. He sped up his videos.

  • @KaosuKaiari actually if your computer is powerful you can play this in 60fps smooth, according to my friend who had a very strong spec computer.

  • @gunboss201 Which is a shame. It shouldn't require so much power to emulate Model 3. It does require some, but you've got to admit M3 emulation is broken as of now. I heard the latest version accepts again M3 games, I tested it and DU2 technically started- it was slow as fuck and without sound, but it did start. Let's hope they work on that...

  • This is on the sega model 3 emulator

  • No, it's MAME.

  • Great emulation. Nothing would make me happier than to see this game finally released to consoles after more than 12 years in arcades. An arcade-perfect translation. Until then, we have videos like this to fall on for our proper SCUD Race/Super GT fix.

  • List of SEGA-related things that the fans want and SEGA's (most likely) opinion:

Bare Knuckle IV (PS3) (Heh, yeah right.)

Shenmue III (PS3) (Hmm... Wrong!) Ristar 2 (PSN, X LIVE) (Wow, they want a sequel?) Phantasy Star Universe 2 (PS3, 360, whatever the hell niggas is calling each other these days) (Ethan can wait for now...) Shadow the Hedgehog 2 (PS3) (WTF? Are you fucking kidding?) SCUD Race (PS3) (Interesting... 2012!)

The point is that our call rests on SEGA's Sonic-related deaf ears.

  • @JohnMarineTube SCUD Race & San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing, in my opoinion, are the two BEST Arcade Racing Games ever made, I just wish to see a well-made PC Port without ANY Changes from the originals, (Not like the crappy "sfrush: midway arcade treasures") or even better, remastered versions with HD res textures WHITOUT OTHER CHANGES! (See: "Perfect Dark" for XBLA)

I am afraid that this "dream" of us won't ever become reality...

  • @JohnMarineTube IDIOT he has not look at timer fool

  • My favorite choice. (except I use Manual)

  • You should always. But maybe it's a bit tough on emulators, especially because EACH gear must be assigned to a key?

  • Nah, I've played DAYTONA USA PC versions, even though it has "Shift Up" and "Shift Down" assigned by default, you can map a key to a specific gear.

  • Yeah it has to be indeed, but the G25 wheel solves that issue.
