  • Thanks a lot man!!!!!

  • Thanks a lot man, now it's working :)

  • Used this video to reset the Waste Ink Absorber. Works great now. I didn't clean the absorbers, so let's see how long it'll work before I have to do the big disassembly in Part 1.

  • Hi Thanks for the video. I did everything you said and when I went to print (and yes I put in a new black ink cartridge) nothing but paper with no print came out? What may be the problem.

    Please get back to me

  • @Thunderstruck1330 You may need to run the print head cleaning or print head deep cleaning found in the Maintenance menu of your printer settings.

  • Seriously, a million thank you's for this video and part 1 of it as well. You're a life saver. I thought my printer was finally a goner when it started telling me about the ink absorbers! Thank god I googled for an answer and found your videos.

  • Hi,

My name is Neusa and English is not my first language,so I couldn’t fix my canon (print)as you describe in the video.

I made de part 1, but in the part-2 it didn’t work.

    My questions are:

In iP 1500 service tool-the printer should be on or off ?, because if it is off the platen doesn’t work.

And after everything done,do I need unplug the power again?(You speak so fast to me and I didnt understand).

    Thank you.

  • I got everything put back together fine, I thought. It feeds paper only half way, then stops and says I have a paper jam. Also, I get Service Error 6000. What do ya think?

  • wat may cause ink head not to read on printer.......

  • no..you remove the plug, wait 5 minuts for the circuits to cool down..then plug.

the blind leading the blind...now where is my dog.

  • 2 words. YOU ROCK!

  • i cleaned the printer following part 1 & part 2 and it worked fine for the first two weeks.............currently its not printing.........it started missing out pieces of the work and now its not printing at all.........you seeing white paper with no info on it............my ink is half full........

  • @kamau008 Sounds like your print heads are clogged or damaged. Clogging could have happened if the ink cartridges were out of the printer long enough for the heads to dry out (say it took you 2 or 3 days to finish cleaning the pads). If so, removing the heads and soaking them in cleaning solution may bring them back to life.

If this doesn't work (or if they were damaged while cleaning the absorbers), you need to replace them in which case it may be cheaper to buy a new printer.

  • my printer is cannon pixma ip 1000 do you ha ve any tips

  • @gotodie200 I did it by going to the rapidshare mirror and clicking on the free slow down load. Hope that helps.

  • @MonicaGrider .thanks a million monica i just followed the step but i couldnt have done it without you ! by the way did the service tool comfirm that anything was done after clicking on "main" ink absorbers? my didnt so i just wondered thnaks again.

  • @gotodie200 You are welcome. This second step didn't work for me because I guess my computer was having issues but it didn't really matter because my cat had chewed the ribbon on the printer while I was waiting for the absorbers to dry. I was trying to get it to work anyway which is why I followed and tried the link.

  • i found the links but they wont take me anywhere says internet explorer bla bla have they moved? please help I'm so far i just need the tool to reset the whole dang thing.

  • i cant get any of the 3 links the more info takes me to...does anyone know if they have been moved or what am I doing wrong...I've even tried googleing for the tool with no succes can anyone help?

  • I can't find the link. When I look to the right of the video, all I see is a Discount Tire ad. I don't see anything on the page that says more info.

  • @MonicaGrider The layout of YouTube has changed over the years. The "more info" section of YouTube videos is now directly below the video.

  • @MonicaGrider hi. i found the links but they wouldnt take me anywhere I tried copy/paste and any thing else i could think did u find the links and did they work?

  • hello friend, after several attempts on the Internet trying to find a way to find a way to reset my printer but it was invalid, until I went on youtube and watch his video, my congratulations for the excellent instruction and your willingness to release the video Thank God is good and people who help others, I solved my problem thanks to you, God bless.

  • This worked on my Canon Pixma IP 1600. I can now print again. I hope this temporary fix lasts. I only did the "override default" Not able able to access the service tool. Thanks!

  • Thank you SO much for posting this info. You just saved me from buying a new printer and I feel like I accomplished something. Thanks again!

  • man, there's a part like a curved 'L' in front of the ip1500 where the waste it's extracted for the first time. I extracted it accidentaly and I don't know how to put it back. some help?

  • Thanks for the great video! I saved $80 by doing this myself, instead of taking my printer to be fixed. Now my printer works fine, just like before, and just in time for the new school semester. :D

  • thanks!

  • wat about the ip1980 do u have the service tool?

  • tnxs

just resetting the counter did the trick for mee

  • Thank you very much. It worked very well after all. You are a helpful person.

  • hello, did the absorb 1 and 2. but now no ink is coming through. no erreor messages and the head is moving as it should paper going through but not printing on it. please help if you can. cheers

  • how do you physically put the printer back together?

  • this worked great - thanks for putting this together.

Are those 2 small pads that the ink cartridges sit on meant to be cleaned also ? (they seem hard)

  • Hy. I had the same "waste ink absorber full" problem and I preoceeded just as you said and finally my LED is green again and the mesage "full..." is gone. Everything seems to be ok so far(thank you), but...now when I put the paper in it to print, after pressing the "OK" button, the paper doesn't passes through the printer in order to be written. It's draged in just 1-2 cm and the printer pulls out these noisses like the paper is written but the paper stays put and doesn't passes the other side.

  • Thank you for these 2 videos, cubedgame. So expedient, so helpful. It worked just perfect for me and right the way you show it. Pixma iP1500 now is almost like new.

  • Awesome! Went through the whole process and it looks like it's a go. We're back in business again. Thanks for the very helpful video and explanation!

  • you are a great and helpful person for posting this :)

  • thanx very much

  • I'm also not able to get the tool to respond.

It comes up, etc., but I am not able to actually reset the counter. I took the printer apart and cleaned it just like you showed me to, but now the service tool isn't working!

    Thanks!

  • the tool doesn't show if its done, i cleaned this printer myself to day for a customer and the tool doesn't show anything after u pressed both of the buttons. Just click the two buttons and it works, start printing something, after that, restart the computer to test if it really did work and try to print again. if it still prints without the waste ink error, then the printer has been reset

  • Thank you very much for this video, I call differents techs and they want to charge me more than $100 for clean the absorbers but with your videos everything works great and for free. Thanks again

  • thanks a lot! if it werent because of this instructional video, i wouldnt have figured out my printer still has a hope.. mine is a different model, i just searched for the service tool..and voila!! it works like brand new.. the manual reset works great as well.. thank you so much..

  • Hi

Have just followed your instructions for cleaning the waste ink absorbers-just brilliant-everything works as it should afterwards. Thanks very much. I want to reset the counter with the service tool. Please can you send me the link or tell me where to find it. Thanks in advance!

  • There's two links in the "More Info" section of the video.

  • Sorry for being so thick but where do I find the "More Info" section of the video-I have played it all the way through several times but I cant find it. Thanks.

  • To the right of the video. Towards the top it's got my account name, then the date this video was posted, then "more info"; click that and you'll see the links.

  • hi.. im not a techie person so i kinda have this hope for my old printer here.. does the same procedure apply for ip1000? how abt the sevice tool? hope u can help me with this.. thnks in advance..

  • I have no idea about the ip1000. They look about the same, but I have only worked on ip1500's. I'm almost certain you will need to find another service tool as well. Good luck!

  • Thanks. It all works fine. But now when I try to download the service tool I cannot use it because I have a Mac. Is there a service tool supported by Mac OS X?

  • I don't know of one, you may have to search for it but I doubt there is. Worst case scenario, just bring the printer and the program over to a friend's house that has a PC. It takes less than 30 seconds to reset the firmware with the tool.

  • i've made everything you said in this 2 videos... and everything goes perfect.. but at the end, when im trying to run the patch, it doesn't respond... do you have any idea of what is going on?

please help me!!! thanks a lot!!

  • yes...5+star for you

  • You're the best man! I did the same and I solved the probleme! Thank you!

  • You are my hero!!! : )

You have made an excellent guide that saved me a lot of time!!!

    Thanks!!!

  • man this is awesome!Do you know if there is a service tool to the new ip4600?

Is it possible to disable the auto cleaning cycles?

    Thanks a lot!!!!

  • There probably is a tool for the ip4600, but I have only worked with the ip1500 so I really do not know.

As far as auto-cleaning cycles, if you're talking about the down time between prints, I don't know if you can disable those and I wouldn't recommend it if you can.
