I don't want to take anything away from Mme.Tagliaferro - she was a very, very great pianist, and among my favorite recordings of all time is her Danza by DeFalla - but I really don't think she's 92 in this vid. That would mean it was recorded in 1985, and the technology here is clearly much older - in black and white, "hot spots" around the lighting. Also she simply doesn't look (or play) like a 92 year old. I'd guess late 1960s which would put her in her 70s. Still absolutely fantastic.

@pianotonton  I have posted an audio of Guiomar playing Gottschalk for me, as I was in her home for a visit.

He gave me some advise about interpretation. She played Brazilian National Anthen and third Ballade of Chopin. Look in Youtube, I am sure you will enjoy it. You will hear her voice.

A melhor interpretação, superior a Guiomar em Poisson d'Or. Os arpejos em 0:39 e 0:48, a gente ouve todas as notas.

@pianotonton Then look on 0:39 e 0:48 and compare with Guiomar Novaes. I preffer Tagliaferro in Poissonsd'Or . at least I can listen all notes.

@henrique1944 Désolé, mais non ! Décidément non ! Et j'admire et aime Maddalena au plus haut point. Mais mon admiratio ne va pas jusqu'à ne pas entendre qu'à 92 ans, elle est un peu fatiguée... même si ce qu'elle fait est émouvant, très émouvant. M'enfin Guiomar enregistrée plus tôt est nettement plus à l'aise !

Thank you for this movie! I'm so happy to be able to see her. It was by a LP record of Villa Lobos I met her first in France. Unforgettable playing and pieces which mostly unpublished..

ce sacrè alfred Cortot et les femmes.... Magda Tagliaferro n est pas la seule pianiste il avait formé qui jouait jusqu a la mort en publique pratiquement. Eliane Richepin en faisait partie. Dommage que la france n a pas fait plus d effort pour lancer mieux la carriere de ces ambassadrices.... Eliane Richepin doit encore etre assez connu en amerique du sud et nord. A Paris elle est inoublié avec ses eléves Roger Muraro et Pascal Gallet qui transmettent cette tradition.

she was a wonderful pianiste.... yes even when more than 90 years old there is no reason for not being able to play. Rubinstein did also... What a brillant technique and look at her arms how they help to keep the contact with the piano.... Best french piano technique from master Cortot.....

Eliane Richepin also was a great Cortot pupil.....
