@1978dagreat He was not rebuking Marian devotion. We do not worship her, but venerate! We worship God alone, who is one but three in the Most Holy Trinity-God Father, God Son, and God Holy Spirit. Here Jesus corrects the woman for not seeing what the work of Mary was aimed AT: following the will of God. As is all Christians' work, by His Holy Command: "Be Thou Holy As the Lord Thy God Is Holy" Most Holy Jesus also does this, directing others to God, with the rich man in Mark 10:17-22

Dear brothers and sisters in CHRIST Jesus, nothing can be carved by forced into our hearts. From my own experience the Love for Mary is a gift... it comes creeping slowly and without imposition and all of the sudden, a huge love is revealed to the person along with the understanding that Jesus and Mary's heart are intimately united. I know that Mary's 33 years with Jesus are a direct rebuttal of "she was only a vessel". Blessed are you Dear Mother among all women!
