  • Hey did you ever get this running? What driver are you using?

  • @CrashByron Well, it was running in the video :-P. But yes, i did make some sparks, though only 8 inches long, i never went above 80vac input, not sure why. 120 likely would have gotten a couple feet breakout when tuned... This was Steve Ward's drsstc-3 pretty much. TO-247 mosfets would have limited to like 300 amps primary current anyway. I should be making a fairly large drsstc soon, with a CM300 halfbridge, maybe fullbridge at some point.

  • Did you not synchronize the switch off (ZVS)? Just asking because at 2:35 it looks like the square wave is cut in the middle of the cycle. Which IGBTs are you using?

  • That was just my scope probe bypass trimmer being way off. It will turn a beautiful sine into a triangle. Quite a wide capacitance range. That was the gate waveform.

I am using G80N60UFD 80 amp 600 volt fast IGBTs, in a TO-3P package. Tiny heatsinks, but i left it running all night at 200 amps (accidentally) and they where not too hot. Just a bit warm, comfortable to touch :D
