@CrashByron Well, it was running in the video :-P. But yes, i did make some sparks, though only 8 inches long, i never went above 80vac input, not sure why. 120 likely would have gotten a couple feet breakout when tuned... This was Steve Ward's drsstc-3 pretty much. TO-247 mosfets would have limited to like 300 amps primary current anyway. I should be making a fairly large drsstc soon, with a CM300 halfbridge, maybe fullbridge at some point.
Did you not synchronize the switch off (ZVS)? Just asking because at 2:35 it looks like the square wave is cut in the middle of the cycle. Which IGBTs are you using?
That was just my scope probe bypass trimmer being way off. It will turn a beautiful sine into a triangle. Quite a wide capacitance range. That was the gate waveform.
I am using G80N60UFD 80 amp 600 volt fast IGBTs, in a TO-3P package. Tiny heatsinks, but i left it running all night at 200 amps (accidentally) and they where not too hot. Just a bit warm, comfortable to touch :D
Hey did you ever get this running? What driver are you using?
