In my honest opinion, death metal came into true form with the early Morbid Angel albums. They were more death metal than any of their counterparts.

All the 80's, old school death metal bands had a speed metal, punk and crossover thrash element to their music because there was a transition going on during that time. All the bands were trying to play heavier and faster yet their music was rooted in those aformentioned genres. If you really were a metal fan, you would know this. In my honest opinion, death metal came into true form with the early Morbid Angel albums. They were more death metal than any of their counterparts.
