This doesn't exactly mean that they had light bulbs and electricity in their control, but their "gods" may have. Ancient sumer civilizations, before the egyptians, had made artifacts depicting alien like figures who supposedly were looked up to as their "gods". Many Mediterranean people have that sort of hair. From the evidence I've seen, ancient Egyptians were a people a lot like what we see in southern Europe and north Africa. Not like what we would think of as "black people" but definately not the pale skinned northern-type people that some people claim them to me.

I'm not exactly the ignorant yokel who's never studied the subject you may think I am. But it all comes down to what you define as black. The later dynasties of Egyptians were mixed race, though. But most depictions and reconstructions I've seen present them as a people with a bronze-ish skin tone.

The deep bronze skin tone I'm talking about was not just from the reconstructions of King Tut, but from the paintings on the walls and many of the statues. I watched the Black Egypt video, IMO it doesn't really disprove any of what I said. I think really if you could compare them to any modern group of people, it would be the East Indians (but even that wouldn't be totally accurate). It looked like the biggest similarity was the ability to "tan" VERY dark.

Personally, I think race is a continuum in that you can't draw a sharp line between the different races because of a combination of evolution due to geography and interpopulation interaction. For example, I've seen moderately light skinned people like you're talking about and I've seen Ethiopians with extremely dark skin but with features most would associate with white people (including naturally straight hair). Human genetics is certainly a strange thing.

There is a mummy in the Cairo museum of one of the pharoahs and he has RED and STRAIGHT hair. DNA has shown that the modern day Egyptians are the same Egyptians of ancient times. Heiroglyphic drawings also depict both Egyptian and Nubian (black) people. There was a time when Egypt was ruled Nubia and it did have black/Nubian pharoahs; but in the span of Egptian history this is minute - especially in light of the fact that there were also Roman, Persian and Syrian Pharoahs.
