That is playable and has a decent sound, but it's a novelty, not really practical. I bought a strumstick and its biggest problem will be a problem with this thing: it turns and rolls in your hands as you play. If you're sweating or standing while you play, it's a constant problem.

If I wanted something unusual, I'd like to see a 3 or four string under 30 inches (or even 24") in length. Even if it were only one octave lower than a regular guitar it would be useful and great for travel.

you can play all 12 notes in western music. You only need one string, especially if you're playing the bass line of a song. But look at my video, i have a one string bass too.
