  • wow, thanks!!!!!!

  • wow, hanks!!!!!!

  • 3: 32 Incubus- Magic Medicine :P

  • you like incubus and jose sweet!

  • Nice job, man. Good to see a drummer who knows music theory on youtube and knows what they're talking about!

  • I don´t know how it worked but your video here helped me understand and figure out the drum pattern of dimsunk´s "give it up and turn it loose" by james brown. check it out on yt if you haven´t!thanks so much!

  • Dude You forgot to mention JOJO Mayer this is basically called Trip Hop style......

  • @cnote05 how could he forget Jojo.

  • Tighten the drum head with a stick anti-perspirant. It does have an effect that seems to create a chemical reaction similar to that of an adrenal gland exploding inside the neck of a baboon.

  • Thankyou for not overtightening the drum head.

    Perc. Dept.

  • this guy has got a cool voice he sounds so relaxed lol

  • Is a "grace" note different than a ghost note, or are they just different terms for the same thing?

    JAH bless

  • @TheTrueHappy a grace note doesnt really have a time value where as a ghost note does! thas the best way i can explain it!

  • very god

  • xoxo =)

  • You play well, but watching you is a bit uninteresting tbh.

  • cool

  • yeaaah you ruleeeeee,,,,

  • great technique man

  • Awesome.

  • AWESOME

  • sorry guy, but 8th note between the hi hats?!?! There 16th notes, they're just played fast.

  • thank you!

  • Practicing musicians / learners, if you could fill out my easy 4 question survey for my research project it would be much appreciated. The link is in the info of my video called practicing musicians thanks.

  • Like all of your videos i've seen... it sounds so white. You don't play with enough intensity, and the dynamic range is too shallow.

With all due respect, I only mention it because I used to play the exact same way, but enough non-drummer musicians would always tell me to grow some balls and feel it.

  • @moogoogaipan amen!

  • hey dude would mind my asking what size and brand sticks you're using? awesome stuff by the way

  • you made a great video, but i wanna ask you something. is it wrong if i put 1 kick and then 2 kicks and so on ? and i agree it' isn't to hard.

  • okay holding the sticks that way are just really annoying. please dont do it in the videos. its just pissing the fire out of me seeing you hold them that way lol

  • @PisolMan Dude just cause he holds the sticks that way doesn't mean he doesn't know what hes doing. its most like because clicks with the butt end of the stick ..there way sharper and this style of groove beats requires a more of a layed back style which useing clicks is common

  • I watched it half way through just to realize Ialready knew this

  • he is holding a stick backwards

  • @Kamina150 He's probably holding it that way because the stick ends up backwards when you quickly switch from traditional to match.

  • @Ozma00X thats not true

  • @Kamina150 its just a different sticking technique.... its how I play, and I know several other people that do. Mike Portnoy does, Nicko McBrain does. Just gives the snare more crack

  • @xXbrick84Xx Hear hear! Someone knows something. I like hearing them speculate as to why the stick IS backwards. They're like archaeologists finding an artifact.

  • wow thats not hard at all.

  • THANX MAN.....AWESOME

  • thanx man...it helped a lot :)

  • What kind of drum set is that

  • It's an evans my school has one

  • evans skins

  • This guy should repeat the basics...

How to hold a Stick the right way....

  • haha

  • hahaha right on!

  • I agree

  • Look for Jojo Mayer ...he explain pretty much everything..to me its the best explanation of everything... :)

  • He appears to be using a french grip technique.

  • I agree.

*to vidmaker* You're not playing timpani boy

  • There's many ways on how to hold the drum stick...Which ever way works for you. And apparently the French Timpani Grip, works for this guy. So leave him alone. Instead of criticizing him, why don't you go out and try to play this beat he did instead of taking your time on criticizing how he plays. :S

  • I'm not really intrested in playing the drums, but I think in a band the drums are more importaint that some people thing. It's the only thing that gives the song a beat. XD

I love the sound of drums. But I don't know how to play it but it would be cool to learn how to. :D

  • great vid man this was a huge help!

  • why have u witten on your snare??? i think youre crazy in the bad thinking haha but good video

  • he's at a practice room at Berklee College of Music, they dont want you to tune the drums.

  • @karenjonas14 - lol he is playing on a school drum set: "Thank you for not overtightening the drumheads."

  • greeat drum! setup and hardware <3

  • The end of "you got me". Quest does a drumandbass beat......fool!!

  • same with break you off

  • @thousandislandfilms That was a sick drumbeat!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is in a practice room at berklee, haha.

and neither Ahmir Thompson, nor Jose Pasilla Jr. play drum and bass beats.

  • gud vid but the bass sounds bad man

  • it says "Thank you for not overtightening your drum head, Perc. Dept."

  • awesome

  • why have you wriiten that on your snare skin?

  • he was probably talking to you no?

  • I still can't do it it's confusing but I'm not a drummer I just teach myself drums lol well done though

  • then u are^^

  • I always thought it was Guestlove. Hmm!

  • LOL

  • awesome vid, sick visions :D great drums.

  • Nice video mate! Check out my vids too if you like. Keep up the good work!

  • Pearl Vision ^^

    Same as mine :D

  • could i ask what make and model your hi hats are please? Oh and good playing by the way!

  • Thanks! They're zildjian, thats about all I know. Im in one of the drum rooms at Berklee and they switch up all the cymbals every now and then. I'll try and find out the model for you.

  • thanks very much.

  • Sabian HHX 100% . Probably the Stage model.

  • @bangthedrumsquickly Yeah I'd really like to know what those hi-hats are they sound great

  • @bangthedrumsquickly the hihats look like sabian hhx, either stage or groove hats...cool drumming!:)

  • @thepete1802 those hi hats are sabian hhx those are the only hi hats that have unlathed bells i think

  • @thepete1802 I play on these kits all the time. Those hats are definetly Sabian HHX stage hats

  • Tip: To lubricate the dexterity of your left or non-dominant wrist (the gear which this style depends upon) - practice the following rudiment.

    R,L,L,R,L,L,R,L,L,R,L,L (continuous)

Impossible simple AND impossibly effective. I'd start at about 180 bpm, and increase 2 bpms once you sustain the rudiment for 5 minutes without stopping.

  • This Is A Good Method, But Im Lefty So I Do

    L,R,R,L,R,R,L,R,R (CONTINOUS)

but i play righty except when it comes to fills or drum rolls etc.

  • nice video, didnt know it was that simple

  • dude i know nothin about beats i just play metal and keep time with my hands =/

  • well look out for my next course on how to read rhythms and drum music.

  • @Malinator94 look dude, i listen and play "metal" beats but "metal" beat doesn't exist. it is only rock and punk beats

  • wat size i d mounted tom

  • really good! make more videos!!

what there is write on yuor snare?

  • oh haha Im in one of the practice rooms at my school (Berklee) and for some reason they like to write on the snare "Thanks for not overtightening the drumheads"

  • how hard is it to get into Berklee? And would you say its worth it?

  • im not sure what the procedure is to get in nowadays. probably an audition or something. but yeah, depending on what you go for and what you make of it. its definitely worth it!

  • well done mate!

  • thanks!

this is one of my favorite things to teach, cause its hard to know where to begin learning these.

  • Great lesson!I'll be waiting for more videos.

  • Good video once again mate.

  • great idea for a lesson!

I'm going to dominate this lesson!
