  • Richard Grant writes beautifully :) I'm thoroughly enjoying his new book-Crazy River.

  • I am reading this book and in spite of my previous comment I am enjoying it. Its full of irony - especially if you have had similar experiences. He won the Thomas Cook travel award - a good joke the way he describes Mexico. If you live in the 1st world go down on your knees every day in gratitude for law and order, and corruption at such a high level it doesn't effect you personally.

  • I remember similar types coming to South Africa 'to have a taste of the violence'. They would go somewhere they shouldn't go - just as you could even do in London, then be surprised that bad things happened (or nearly happened - or didn't happen at all). But they felt qualified to write about it, (or stories they were told) as if they had discovered for the first time how strange human nature is.

  • When I was young and traveled to Mexico I'd always hook up with Mexican woman. I wonder if he did?

  • Great book by a great guy...!

  • that sounds like every day in south tucson, they only did it to teach you. and then you left?!
