Wavedash isn't a glitch. It's an physics exploit. The developers knew about it and left it in Melee.

L-Cancel, In super smash brothers Melee, You could hit the shield button right before landing while doing an aerial, and the lag time would decrease. Like Links Down Air, Hed pull up the sword way faster.

Wavedash is a burst of movement casued by the games physics. If you Shield Dodged Towards the ground(doesnt work in brawl), Then your extra momentum would slide on the ground and carry you a short distance for spacing and evading.
