  • hey who knows where the cow clip is from

  • @ilovedisney35 it's from the Goofy short "For Whom the Bulls Toil" made in 1953

  • Does anyone know the name of the Jiminy Cricket cartoon thats shown here with the pencil that draws the automobiles? I remember seeing that as a kid and it's driving me crazy trying to find it again!

  • @TheNikOnder that is All the cats join in from Make Mine Music

  • How ironic coming from a cricket ò_ô

  • Sorry, but animals can think and reason. I hated this as a kid. *feeds Jiminy Cricket to bearded dragon*

  • @misspinkpunkykat I agree, but I think this was created before most people stopped to realize that.

  • @MegaMonkeyTrouble Yeah, I think you're right. It has that 60's animation feel. *still feeds Jiminy Cricket to bearded dragon*

  • @misspinkpunkykat Or ask if human's are the only one's capable of thought-why the hell is he talking? And Micky, and Mini, and the rest?

  • @MegaMonkeyTrouble He would probably say it's becuase they are cartoons or realise there are some flaws in his logic and try to run away before I fed him to my bearded dragon.

  • @misspinkpunkykat Heh, yeah.

  • @MegaMonkeyTrouble People used to think that animals were incapable of true thinking becuase they obviously didn't have language based thinking; that was until Temple Grandin came along and realised she didn't have language based thinking but she still had true thought.

  • @misspinkpunkykat Temple Grandin? Is she mentioned wiki?

  • @MegaMonkeyTrouble Just google her and you should get some info, You can even watch her here.

  • So true! I remember turning the TV off when my daughters were watching this in the 80s. Although it may not yet have been scientifically proven at the time, that animals think, reason, and feel, I can't understand why anyone felt the need to write a song and teach the children that they don't do these things.

  • The clip with the coyote comes from Lambert the Sheepish Lion

  • Does anyone know the name of the cartoon with the coyote? For the life of me, I can't remember!!!!!!!!!!! :(

  • man i havent seen this since i was a little LITTLE kid! Thanks for the memories! i too didnt understand this until i got older ROFL!

  • Man I Was Watching Something Else(CRICKET) And Because Of This Video My Brother Told To Watch This Now I Am Showing It To Him(:::LOL:::)

  • what the hell is the animal called before the duck but after the pig?? I can't understand A WORD they are saying, what the animal is called or the noise they make.... never seen an animal looking like that either

  • @catererin they call it a mule - it's another name for a donkey, i think. and the noise they make is hee-haw. that's how the donkeys look in Pinocchio.

  • @MotherAtHeart25 A mule is a hybrid of a donkey and a horse. A mule and a donkey are two diffrent things.

  • @catererin It s a MULE it says heehaw.

  • Thanks, I remember this song!

  • @yungboy23ful you're welcome :)

  • I remember watching this when I was 4. Wow, I completely misunderstood it then. I remember thinking it was trying to say animals were EQUAL to us. I guess I really didn't put too much thought into the line saying we're the only animal that can think. lol

  • this is grossly outdated, i hope nobody is using this as a learning tool today. I actually remember my 1st or 2nd grade music teacher playing that bare necessities sing a long songs video for us.

There's a little speech jiminy gives before singing the song where he explains that animal brains don't don't think. We all know now (hopefully) that many species of animal have proved complex thinking and reasoning skills to rival a human child.

does that mean animals deserve rights equal to us? no.

  • aint seen this one for years lol.....thank you!

  • Animals CAN think, but the majority can't think half as well. Some can count, too.

I just like it when my dog DOESN'T think and smacks into the screen door in his rush to get outside. xD

  • @0Backtrack my dog once ran right through the screen door. I am not kidding. XD

  • Haha! This takes me back! Thank you for posting!

  • Such a degrading song; raises man as the perfect, ideal and only 'real' creaturel, as though we were for some reason above the other animals.

  • @dupsacque Hmmm. You should discuss your plight with a hungry bengel tiger. I'm sure he would completely respect your position and right to live.

  • @GeetarAdam Don't pull that "the wild animals eat each other, so we humans are free to eat meat" thing on me. I didn't say we're not different, but not in a way that could place us on different numbers on the 'greatest animal scale'.

  • @dupsacque Am I right, then, to assume that you don't eat meat? So it's okay to eat veggies because they don't squeal when they die? You know what? If the other members of the animal kingdom find this cartoon so fucking offensive, LET THEM COMMENT ON IT! *crickets* (not that I have anything against crickets ;P)

  • OK, watching this made me feel like I was 4 years old and in pre-school again, sitting in my living room watching this on tape. Wow I have seriously not seen this in at least 18 years. And I still remember it vividly!

  • i never thought i'd see this again!

  • I had the 78 rpm record of this song when I was 12, I also liked the flip side to it ,BOOKS, wish I could hear that one also. Thanks for the memories :)

  • Thank you so much.

  • @BankruptMonopoly my pleasure :)

  • less than two minutes was all it took to make me an evolutionist hehehehehe just kidding

  • Actually this was on sing along songs, I used to own the VHS and I remember this was on at well as other songs.

  • I'm not sure if you have this or not, given that (to my knowledge) this isn't a Sing Along Songs song, but do you know the movie Fun and Fancy Free? Do you think you could upload the beginning segment where Jiminy Cricket is singing about being happy go lucky?

  • @AndieTiggerPyro aww, i'm sorry, i don't - wish i could help

  • @MotherAtHeart25 I didn't think you would. :( Thanks anyway, though.

  • @AndieTiggerPyro I used to have that on VHS! That's where I remember this from, I guess. Thanks! :D

  • @AndieTiggerPyro That song was titled "I'm a Happy-Go-Lucky Fellow," and no, it was never used in the "Sing-Along Songs" series.

  • Good old Cliff Edwards... *sighs happily*

  • A number of these clips beside The Aristocats and Cleo are from a series of educational shorts starring Jiminy Cricket known as "I'm No Fool", there are also clips from "All the Cats Join In" and "Farmyard Symphony", two shorts. I hope this helps

  • @TheITinFIT Absolutely, thanks for taking the time.

  • @TheITinFIT funny story, i was logged into my other account and replied to your comment, so I thank you and apparently so does my alter ego :)
