Lol I've had a MPGA socket 478 3.0 ghz processor overclocked to 4.0 ghz for about 5 years till a capacitor went bad on my motherboard... overclocking does not necessarily mean your CPU is going to give out in a matter of months.
@warlacozte yes i do run a 30 gig ssd for my os. I'm just amazed it makes that much of a difference. I'm very impressed with the overclock just the same. Mine is at 4.8 ghz with lower voltage (can't remember exactly right now because I'm on my phone). I'm going to revert back to stock settings soon though, because at stock my CPU doesn't reach maximum load so I'd like to preserve the longevity of the processor.
I'm not sure why yours loads slowly, but my biostar z68 board loads windows in less than 15 seconds.... have mine OC'd to 4.8 ghz and tested stable with Intel burn test.
im planning on oc'ing it to 4.7ghz with a cooler master hyper 212 evo @ 1.3-1.4v ...wat i wanna know is...how long can it run stably without blowing up ...even if sometimes i use it even for 24hr+ purposes...i want my setup to last for about 2-3 more years :(...please guys suggest
I need help, info, a direction of guru's that can advise on *underclocking*. We wish to build a server that will be powered by an M4-ATX (250Watt) 12VDC power supply and run from Solar / Wind / battery. Currently we are looking at the Intel i5 - 2500K CPU. But if there is a better option let us know! We wish to be able to drop the Wattage consumption down as low as possible during low reserve power situations. @SnowysProductions lol, yeah yeah..that's what everyone says. Remember, a shortened life doesnt mean it will die in weeks, it will still take years to kill a chip. No doubt. Everyone told me I'd fry my old Core i7 950 to all hell running it at 4.5Ghz and almost 1.6V, survived just fine for two years constant overclock :) I do understand that these chips are a little more fragile though.
im planning on oc'ing it to 4.5ghz with a cooler master hyper 212 plus ...wat i wanna know is...how long can it run stably without blowing up ...even if sometimes i use it even for 24hr+ purposes...i want my setup to last for about 2-3 more years :(...please guys suggest
@durjoymukherji I'm running my 2500k at 4.5GHz right now at just 1.328v! I have a Corsair H50 hooked up to it, and I usually get a max temp of like 63 degrees Celcius. You shouldn't get too high above that with your cooling, so you should be able to run it 24/7 without any problems, like myself.
@Metalicalypse Intel i5 2500k is the latest and best performing processor currently available, among with its brother i7 2600k. It's about 39% faster than any AMD.
you may know how to overclock, but not how to do a video

is this stable= so can you run the pc 24 hours without getting mistakes or the cpu becoming too hot?

I've had my old 1.8GHz overclocked to 3Ghz for 5 years also, still running strong.

@TurbineProductionsX Nope, it will be horrible, 2FPS per second on most games sorry.
Of course it will, but you're just ignorant.

there was no need to pass 1.45v to overclock that high. you could do it probably alot less volts.

@clarencelanguage1 how i cannot even get to freaking 4.8GHZ on 1.43v help please? what am i doing wrong.
Mooseguy15 1 month ago
@Mooseguy15 Some chips wont go above 4.2GHz, its all luck whether you get a CPU that can reach 5.2GHz or one that can only reach 4GHz.

Depends on your motherboard and BIOS mate.
