wow.. ya sure that thing is worth all the effort... I mean , I know a poor man has poor ways.. which is why I've learnded what I know about cars.. I've pulled a 2.8 v6 on a sat.. got on an engine stand and dropped in an used crank with new barrings.. with tons of break in lube and my wife drove it for over 3yrs. just couldn't afford to pay someone to do it.. so I just figured it out.
@gumpster66 Thanks my friend. Sometimes you just don't have a choice. This car should have went to the junk yard but should be good now for a year or 2 tops lol
@ShawnCFarm i just hate tearing in to rust bucket boats, i usually just tell the boss to pass unless of course he doesn't mind if i spend 3 days on it with no guarantees. its against the law for them to salt the roads here, so our cars don't rust out like that here.
Concerning this car, far better to have a horrible end than horror without end. This is very common in Michigan where we have no vehicle inspection laws and fewer people who can afford to keep a car in safe operating condition. Not to mention the salt.
Cool vid Shawn!! I would have never dreamed or have I heard much about replacing the K-frame. Most people would have sent it to the scrap yard for sure, I know I would!
you should spray some pb blaster or some type of penetrating oil on it and leave it overnight----it makes a world of difference when removing those rusty bolts
Up until 3 weeks ago I was driving a 86 acadian with a bad rear seal, many times I told myself I'll fix it this month but I never did I always told myself If you fix that the car will rust away, I said that because the oil was the only thing protecting the underside of the car lol. I will be driving it as a winter beater but I'm fixing the seal in my spare time, I'll also add that that car is the best thing I have ever drove it's loud and ugly but never any serious mechanical problems love it.
@ShawnCFarm a lot of people do but they make awesome ice racers and you will never get a speeding ticket lol. Mine has a lot of sentimental value it was my first car so I can't bring myself to sell it or just let it rot in the yard.
@kowyn2 i resored a rust bucket chevelle one time, the whole front clip, windshield frame, rear window frame all crap... the car had a leaky valve cover for at least 25 years so the whole bottom of the car was like brand new when it came back from sand blasting.
this is just plain scary. I drive 120 miles a day to work and back.. Wonder whats coming at me now on the road!. My pontiac is a 2000 model..and is kept in top shape by a trusted mechanic we been goin to for 20 yrs.. We will do without extras before we drive a car that needs attention so we can pay for it. He kept our five cars safe for wife and 3 kids and me. Kept a grand in savings at all times just for that. Theyre all done with college now..heee..haw!
I had to do the clutch on my sisters Saturn SC1. So the Kframe had to come out. I was going to do a vid of how good the kframe on my 96 sunfire was compaired to this one but I couldn't find my gloves and I had been too slow removing the oil plug earlier that day. Kepp em comin like we know you will.
I'd rather these be fully in depth two-part 20 minute videos rather than time compressed 1 part videos; keep up the great work! I'll always watch these and learn something either way :)
I personally love the longer format videos... but I do agree it does take a while to upload. I junked a Windstar that was at least that ripe but around back. The funny thing about new cars is they don't really give you much warning before they go in spectacular fashion! Keep up the great videos Shawn
yea your right We were talking Most of the guys would not do it even me.yea its fun to fix but far to dangers to drive. Just look at the rot! Did you see What @ backwoods said I have to Argee pore me a 2 finger. LOL
Good grief, Shawn. Having heard horror stories of the northern rust belt, this may be the worst yet! You're a good fellow and again, your character shines through.
