  • wow that thing is hardly road worthy would never get let back on the road in a city what he needs is insurance and a lighter

  • @boardingpass04 Hahaha we talked about it

  • For what I would have charged for this job they could have bought a new car!

  • @edzgarage I didn't make alot but I got a few good videos out of it, thats just the way I see it lol.

  • wow.. ya sure that thing is worth all the effort... I mean , I know a poor man has poor ways.. which is why I've learnded what I know about cars.. I've pulled a 2.8 v6 on a sat.. got on an engine stand and dropped in an used crank with new barrings.. with tons of break in lube and my wife drove it for over 3yrs. just couldn't afford to pay someone to do it.. so I just figured it out.

    love your vids man.. tc

  • @gumpster66 Thanks my friend. Sometimes you just don't have a choice. This car should have went to the junk yard but should be good now for a year or 2 tops lol

  • those rotors look like they can be turned...

  • what a nightmare... i hope the gig pays well

  • @dirtTdude I didn't make alot as I didn't forsee what a mess it was lol. I had to replace the fuel lines at the end as well

  • @ShawnCFarm i just hate tearing in to rust bucket boats, i usually just tell the boss to pass unless of course he doesn't mind if i spend 3 days on it with no guarantees. its against the law for them to salt the roads here, so our cars don't rust out like that here.

  • @dirtTdude People up here can't drive in the snow lol.

  • Concerning this car, far better to have a horrible end than horror without end. This is very common in Michigan where we have no vehicle inspection laws and fewer people who can afford to keep a car in safe operating condition. Not to mention the salt.

  • Cool vid Shawn!! I would have never dreamed or have I heard much about replacing the K-frame. Most people would have sent it to the scrap yard for sure, I know I would!

  • you should spray some pb blaster or some type of penetrating oil on it and leave it overnight----it makes a world of difference when removing those rusty bolts

  • @bigpaw64 This is very ture

  • Up until 3 weeks ago I was driving a 86 acadian with a bad rear seal, many times I told myself I'll fix it this month but I never did I always told myself If you fix that the car will rust away, I said that because the oil was the only thing protecting the underside of the car lol. I will be driving it as a winter beater but I'm fixing the seal in my spare time, I'll also add that that car is the best thing I have ever drove it's loud and ugly but never any serious mechanical problems love it.

  • @kowyn2 I hated them cars lol

  • @ShawnCFarm a lot of people do but they make awesome ice racers and you will never get a speeding ticket lol. Mine has a lot of sentimental value it was my first car so I can't bring myself to sell it or just let it rot in the yard.

  • @kowyn2 i resored a rust bucket chevelle one time, the whole front clip, windshield frame, rear window frame all crap... the car had a leaky valve cover for at least 25 years so the whole bottom of the car was like brand new when it came back from sand blasting.

  • @dirtTdude I'm toying with the idea of dropping in a 86 s10 V6.

  • That K frame looks like it is fighting you ever step of the way.

  • @mdk70454 I won lol, but the car has other tricks

  • holy crap! never seen a cavy that rusted and i have worked on a crapload of them

they must use tons of salt and liquid evil on the roads up there

in my neck of the woods they use salt, liquid evil and anthracite coal ash on the roads and you need to get it off as soon as the roads dry up

  • @lincolnmaniac I've dome alot of these k frames but this ones the worse I'v ever done

  • Ur garage looks like a junk yard lo

  • @hp11208 Thats because I keep bringing stuff home lol

  • @ShawnCFarm let wife and kids clean it, once a month then u have reason to bring stuff home

  • this is just plain scary. I drive 120 miles a day to work and back.. Wonder whats coming at me now on the road!. My pontiac is a 2000 model..and is kept in top shape by a trusted mechanic we been goin to for 20 yrs.. We will do without extras before we drive a car that needs attention so we can pay for it. He kept our five cars safe for wife and 3 kids and me. Kept a grand in savings at all times just for that. Theyre all done with college now..heee..haw!

  • @55points You just never know whats on the road. There are some really bad cars out there.

  • cool

  • Another good vid shawn....

  • @dcave74 Thanks my friend

  • @ShawnCFarm wicked repair when Shawn hands a on whats needs a repairer if your stumped he can really help.

  • Scrap that piece! Its funny how everything up your way rusts out before its wore out...that's one thing I never worry about down here in texas.

  • @jon998811 I'd love to live where its rust free

  • A 1 2 3 Rot Box!

  • @uhrsker Its never ending

  • @ShawnCFarm You know how it is with those older Cavaliers, Shawn. They werent meant to last longer than say 10 years.

  • @MegaMarine111 She'll live for a few more years

  • give the car to dave for a day

  • @swss12 Hahahah I can kill it better then that lol

  • @ShawnCFarm yeah just drive it over a speed bump at 30km/h and the wheels will bust out hahaha

  • @swss12 Thats what it was like on the drive home lol

  • That has to be the most rotten in-use car I've ever seen! The K-frame looks like it's from a 1977 car, as opposed to a 1997 one.

  • @shepshepherd They funy thing is, is that it was under oiled once

  • clean that garage!

  • @swss12 It takes time, alittle here and there and it will be done. You should have seen it before I cleaned

  • I had to do the clutch on my sisters Saturn SC1. So the Kframe had to come out. I was going to do a vid of how good the kframe on my 96 sunfire was compaired to this one but I couldn't find my gloves and I had been too slow removing the oil plug earlier that day. Kepp em comin like we know you will.

  • @bugnutz43847683 That would have made a nice video

  • That car is ready for the junk yard !!!!!

  • @krismounts It was and hope once I'm done that they don't have anymore problems with it for a long time

  • I'd rather these be fully in depth two-part 20 minute videos rather than time compressed 1 part videos; keep up the great work! I'll always watch these and learn something either way :)

  • @sc0tte1 I will keep you in mind tomarrow night when I fix the fuel lines

  • wow you have a task there to get that done without all the lines leaking.

good stuff my workshop is like your garage need more space.

  • @chox2001 Hahahah I now have to fix the fuel lines. I should have just done them all right from the start

  • Nice job as usalley man !

  • @josderedneck22 Thanks myfriend

  • Fun (to watch, ha ha) to see how much work this can be with home tools.

  • @spelunkerd Yes I wish I had a car lift

  • I've dropped out quite a few subframes myself! I did 5 years at a Chevy dealer. But it was in California, definitly not that rusty.

  • @kevin92xj I'd love to work on new cars all day lol

  • WOW, that car is crazy rusty, they should just get a new-old car.

To bad you can't take it off the road!

  • @redneckbryon I have two out back that I can have some fun with, just run out of time to do it

  • I envy the patience you have, lol.

  • @DrJohnBecker I think its ran out tonight lol. I have to fix the fuel lines now

  • As Clint Eastwood would say... It's a Cluster F&%K... That garage makes want to cry... You have a lot of STUFF.

  • @4gasem I'm a horder lol

  • wow , what a mess :)

better you than me . lol

  • @500passwords Oh it gets better

  • Awesome video!!! Can't wait for part 2!!

  • @MisterMattyMo Comming soon

  • The domino effect in action.

  • @ManicMechanic007 And its not done

  • I personally love the longer format videos... but I do agree it does take a while to upload. I junked a Windstar that was at least that ripe but around back. The funny thing about new cars is they don't really give you much warning before they go in spectacular fashion! Keep up the great videos Shawn

  • @dwaynejperry Thanks my friend, it takes at least 8 hours or more to upload a 20 min video with me high speed lol

  • @ShawnCFarm 100 mbit internet to all that's what i say :D

  • dumb cavaliers. undercoating is the way to go! im surprised the head gasket didnt blow yet. lol

  • @MrRichierich1990 Shhh don't say that lol

  • what a crazy repair. seems just a bit much for that vehicle.

  • @WhackTheWax Its alot easyer on a car lift lol

  • Man, I'm not for scraping cars for scratches, smoke or any treehugger's reasons, but this is a major safety hazard.

  • @cipmars Shes good now with the new frame in it but the fuel lines are another story

  • @ShawnCFarm You can work miracles, then! The fuel lines are tedious to change, but I'm sure it's nothing compared to this job.

  • @cipmars I'm getting tired of working on this car lol

  • dang, I think I'd scrap it if it was mine lol

  • @kortt Me too

  • if i was the owner id part out as much as i can and then junk it, poor car and resrect for trying to keep it running.

  • @The1FastGP Not much good left on it lol

  • i woulda junked that car long ago!

  • @thestuffz I would have loved that lol

  • Man that´s really a horrible rusty mess...cheesh.

How old was this POS again?

Kudos, that your are trying to fix it!

  • @TINRFD Shes a 96 or 97 so its over the hill for up here

  • yea your right We were talking Most of the guys would not do it even me.yea its fun to fix but far to dangers to drive. Just look at the rot! Did you see What @ backwoods said I have to Argee pore me a 2 finger. LOL

  • @RoflmaoAtSheepeople hes going to need more than 2 oz.if it aint stright

  • @backwoods3214 I need a beer now

  • @ShawnCFarm fook the beer thas bear iss botttled.

4oz caption morgans in tin o coke.

  • @RoflmaoAtSheepeople I think I'm going to have a few beer tonight. I thought I was done with it and now the fuel lines started to leak

  • As quickly as cars rust up there in the north, I hope they are cheap enough. It seems to me that you'd spend a fortune every few years.

  • @fegolem Nope they still cost alot to buy new and not sure where people are getting there money from

  • C'mon mate! Let her go down.

  • @gloorbit lol

  • I think transit would be a safer bet for these folks...wow! Talk about unsafe...lol

  • @johnygogo People have to be told because they do not know what the underside of there car looks like

  • double hammer air gun and 6 cfm air compreser y need when garage is cleaned

  • @backwoods3214 Working on it lol

  • did u drink rum to settle nerves after driving it home

  • @backwoods3214 White knuckle all the way, everytime I hit a bump it tryed to pull me into the ditch

  • @ShawnCFarm suprised u got home . woudering if its cute single females car.

  • @backwoods3214 hahaha nope shes not a single

  • you can put makeup on a pig but its still a pig lol

  • @carrabec99 Hahahah I like that one

  • @carrabec99 Hey! Don't trash talk pigs man! They are about a hundred times better than that piece of junk car.

  • @RealCadde i agree old saying ha ha my dad raised pigs no harm was done to any real pigs lol jess chevys

  • No way! That car's for the scappie man! They could get a good 2nd hand car for less than the repair costs likely!

  • @martian953 Na the repairs are cheap, just starting to kill me lol

  • All of that could have been avoided with some extra care over the years. To me it seems the owner didn't care at all. Look where that got him!

  • @RealCadde Your right there. Not sure where they have been getting there oil changes done , but they are not looking out for problems

  • wow RUST never sleeps

    and nether will shawn

part of being a doctor is knowing

  • durbey car

  • @wildcat2087 You still need brakes

  • wow honeslty the car needs to be scraped and crushed

  • @rangerfx42002 It should have been , but its still cheaper to fix it

  • P.O.S!

  • @Erated78 Yup, and its going to like new after I'm done with it lol

  • Good grief, Shawn. Having heard horror stories of the northern rust belt, this may be the worst yet! You're a good fellow and again, your character shines through.

  • @4micaman Thanks my friend. The rust just kills cars. I'll think twice before I do another one on my back lol

  • Man lucky they didn't kill themselvs you would not waste your money or time they should wreck it it looks like a death trap on wheels i know maybe they can't afford a new car but your life is worth more Good vid Shawn keep up the good work i love watching your vids

  • @wazclan1964 Thanks and the car will be good for a few years after this repair.

  • @chevyreaper I should have never let it leave the yard, but people have to get to work, and thought it would last a week or so

  • @ShawnCFarm payments might be what they expect, hope they made depist last time

  • Nice video Shawn.... I cant wait to see you put that k member in. I have had alot of old cars 20/30/40 year old cars and I have never seen that bad of rust on a frame.

  • @cbhonda90 They put to much salt on the roads up here

  • @ShawnCFarm yeah here less ice less snow, thought they mixed salt with corn for some spots like alberta.

  • gotta love having to work on every one elses junk before you can even work on your own lol

  • @topfireman Ya I'm way behind on my own things to do
