  • @itsnathaaanxD answers.yahoo question/index?qid=20081116162856AAMpSEr

  • @MegaRockcool just add a .com/ to the end of yahoo

  • @MegaRockcool thanks!

  • @YouMotherIsAwesome I'm from Rm.Valcea :) what camera are u using?

  • @Gheorghepatriotul

Haha I'm from romania also Brasov

  • Are you doing mulitple shots or is it all one single shot?

  • thanks man. i apreciate ! from Romania.

  • To do it with camera's that don't have a manual setting, just set the camera to no flash, so the shutter stays open longer to gather more light in the photo. I have achieved great results with my panasonic DMC-fS3. :D

  • do you know where can I donwload free photoshop? :)

  • Will this work with a Nikon Coolpix P500? I'm new to cameras/

  • This is by far the best tutorial for light painting I've seen! Good job!

  • Can this be done on a Nikon Coolpix L110? I can't find anywhere to change it to manual.

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • Fujifilm FinePix S2950 can u use this cam for light painting

  • Sicckkk

  • Excellent tutorial! I've been thinking of making one myself, but I'll just link to yours.. If your interested I have a neat little light stop video on my page. I'd love some feedback!

  • I'm using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20... not sure if it has this feature, I will try tho :) Thanks for the tip

  • hey i was just wondering what model flash you were using to paint? thanks

  • What a camera do you use? Nikon.... ?

    Please tell me :)

  • Comment removed

  • Great tutorial on light painting, I hope its will work on Canon 5D Mark II. :-)

  • yeah man :))

  • omg i cant do this :/

  • how about the ISO ?

  • what will the shutter speed be?

  • se puede hacer con la kodak z990 o con la fujifilm s3300

  • cool.

  • thanks.

  • is possible with Fujifilm Finepix s2950 ?

  • wait so while ur painting around something like the body was the camera recording u?

  • what if I don't have a bulb mode my camera?

  • when do u take the picture?

  • Using fire has some really awesome effects.. just try not to burn anything, lol

  • WHen do you paint? like when you press capture?

  • loool at 0.52 it look like a dharma initiative video from Lost

  • It doesn't work dude. Its like no self timer at all.

  • I need your help here. When do I paint? While holding the shutter?

  • @malakkm

did you not hear? self timer.

  • @malakkm hello I believe he made one mistake in this video you must hold the shutter down during the entire time in bulb mode or use a remote that will hold it for you. I am not sure what camera he was using if it is newer model than the d90 it may work the way he says but my d300s does not I have to use a remote

  • I'm studying photography and for the class i had to do this believe me is incredible what you can do its also fun to do it with cars

  • This is cool. I've tried it, but I don't have a bulb setting on my camera. Is bulb setting the only way to get the writing or painting so clear?

  • Also, dark clothes are recommended if you dont want yourself on the picture

  • I am totally trying this with my Leika :)

  • EXCELLENT GUIDE !! THANKS :)

  • can you do light paintings with a normal non expensive £300/£400 camera?

  • @cuteecupcake - Yes, just make sure the camera has "Manual mode" settings. It's also recommended to change your shutter speed to the 'bulb' setting (if your camera has that setting) and to also use a remote switch to start the shot.

  • nice job .. perfect

  • How many seconds is good enough to get nice results?

  • 0:04 devil himself

  • Can you do this with a digital camera? like the small ones

  • cool video :]

  • dude this video is awesome everyone new to this should see it, good job! I love how you give good examples afterwards.

  • Great video!

  • can you do it with normal digital cameras (non profesionnal ones??)

  • how can we do this with a cannon digital camera ? is it possible ?

  • @miszzduddi you can try if your camera has a long enough shutter speed. maybe 15-25 seconds ?? or if it's too bright just lower it down... if possible.

  • @miszzduddi as long as it has manual shutter speeds in excess of 5 seconds.

  • @miszzduddi If its one of the smaller hand helds they can usually do a long exposure up to about 5 seconds.. The cannon DSLR's you can put in Manual "M" mode. and adjust up to 30 seconds.. or Bulb "B" and plug in a remote shutter release. Then as long as it is engaged you can run around painting!

  • @miszzduddi yes

  • I still don't understand at all. Is the camera taking pictures while you're doing it?

  • @heyitsreiley While you're doing it, the shutter of the camera stays open (that's the part that intakes the light) and if done correctly you will have great results.

  • You don't have to draw backwards !!!

If you are facing the camera, just draw normally and then FLIP the image in your software package.

  • Great video, what's the name of the first track played on this video?

  • Uau! quero aprender a fazer isso! alguém me de uma câmera e uma lanterna agora!!!!

  • Can you use an ordinary camera for this or do you have to use a more professional camera?

  • I also hav a that Nikon D90 ;)

  • problem. i dont have a camera like that

  • Does anybody know the name of the first song?

  • Great tutorial, well put together and well presented. Thanks!

  • Very clever

  • Great video dood!

  • Yay, finally some use for it being dark eight months out of the year around here! :D I'm sooo gonna try this!

  • That's really cool! I can't wait to try this. Thanks for the tutorial. It was to the point and very easy to understand. :)

  • i have a nikon coolpix p100. it dosent have the bulb mode on it. is there any setting to use for a camera that dosent have it?

  • @pogoman12345678910 setting it on the lowest shutter speed should do the trick, your just gonna have to be swift

  • for some reason when i tried light painting, it didn’t come out! some were just black, nothing else, or the picture wouldn’t have the design just black and the light, which only looked like a dot. i used a tripod, the camera was on manual, i had the self timer on, and i turned the light off when i was writing so it could look like letters. why didn’t it work?

  • @taraloveysmith Was the shutter open, though?

  • @radicalgarbage02 yeah i’m pretty sure it was

  • @taraloveysmith Maybe I worded that wrong. You need to have the shutter open for the duration of the actual light-painting. It's either that or the lights aren't bright enough.

  • @radicalgarbage02 hmm i had the shutter open for ten seconds, so and the light i think was an led. i’ll try some different lights though. thanks for the help!

  • Can a normal digital camera be used? Or only SLRs?

  • what camera model do u recomend?

  • He reminds me of Joseph Gordon sorta. >__>

  • so do you draw first then take a picture

  • @MrKoolDom I think so yes, if you have a timer then put that on, do the drawing before the photo is taken.

    I think so.

  • Thats bad ass!!!

  • i have the same camera :D

  • uhh comfusing

  • pls email me. neillatina@yahoo.com cuz i dont get it so much..tnx

  • after setting it to self timer what will I do?how can I make the painting?

  • Comment removed

  • @magicmark1292 someone*

  • You don't have to write backwards - just invert the image in PhotoShop or Gimp and it will mirror the finished shot. Great tutorial Tony!

  • wat was d software u used to enlight the effect

  • @naughtyrohit1 adobe lightroom!

  • i use my samsung es55 digital camera and it works just fine but i cant spell out names

  • Hey Guys, If you're interested in light painting check out my short video and the final result using the link I posted. Tell me what you think...

  • Will it be very difficult if I don't have a bulb mode on my camera?

It only goes down to 15"...

  • i dont have a remote for my manuel camera what should i set the timer at

  • Do you have to draw backwards?

  • @Dasani123254 If you write facing the camera, yes LOL

  • @Dasani123254 u dnt have to u can jus draw your way and then just reverse the thing? so it plays...... nvm shut up..

  • @Dasani123254 the letters yes. the words no

  • @wantedguy001 Alright, thanks.

  • @Dasani123254 In photoshop you can flip it so.. no you on't unless you dont have a editing software

  • @Dasani123254 You can - but you can also just write like you would on paper and then flip the image horizontally once you get it on your computer

  • @Dasani123254 with more than a monkey brain, you can figure that within 5 seconds of thinking about it

  • @Dasani123254 you're an idiot. why would you have to draw backwards? it's a camera

  • @Dasani123254 You have to write backwards. That's the challenge

  • Comment removed

  • @Dasani123254 I guess you can mirror the photo with some sort of software :)

  • @Dasani123254 draw regularly, then flip the video in editing

  • @Dasani123254 just flip it on your computer.

  • @Dasani123254 if you are facing towards the camera yeah, if not no.

  • @Dasani123254 You have to draw backwards, yes.

  • @Dasani123254 You can draw normally and then flip the image later. :)

  • hey; could you do this with water?

  • You look like minecraft

  • whats the iso?

  • Or you just buy Photoshop :D

  • wow, great tutorial!

  • But what if I don't have a Dslr what will i do? But I have a digicam and the problem is it dosen't have a Slow Shutter what will I do? :)

  • @TheIsabeltorre Take a black piece of paper and mess with the auto adjust. Put the paper infront of the camera and then take it away qucikly while some one is making the lighting. You should be able to spell some short words with this

  • Great! Easy to understand. Can't wait to try.

  • ررائع

  • At 2:10, he mentioned touch the button. What is the button?

  • @dramaforlife the shutter button

  • Comment removed

  • a stair... i think you mean step

  • @trigea Stair, Step, same thing.

  • This Is So Awesome, I Was Looking For A Light Tutorial Too!

  • You can do it with any camera that has a F-Spot option.

Which is basically any camera. You don't need a 500 dollar camera to light paint.

Just mess around with your camera till you get it.

  • Which Nikon is this?

  • is there any way to get rid of the ghosting effect?

  • @TheNoNameUsername

shoot in a darker area, or just a a later time.

there will still be some ghosting but not too much.

also how bright the light is, if it ever points at the painter at some point, the ghost will show up more.

  • Omg the light.

  • The battery on the camera is low.

  • U Inspired me to go further with Light painting

  • Can i use Digicam ( not dslr camera) for this?

    Nikon S3000 ?

  • Check out my "Sound of Madness - Lightpainting" video for some epic crazyness. Combined it with "stop-motion" animation to create some mind boggling stuff!!

  • i can do it with a Kodak Z1275

  • How to make an animated Light painting like this one .

    w ww.youtube.com/watch?v=dSH0HeRcHjk

    tutorial is coming.

  • ummmmm....i just want to say ...THAT I THINK LIGHT PAINTING IS SO FUN......

  • your barn door is open, sir.

  • thanks man! i just made a soccer light painting video.

  • awesome tutorial thanks !

  • I only have samsung ES65

  • @majimboo2020 It doesnt matter what camera you're using(Atleast in Digital). As long as you can mess around with the ISO levels and the exposure times. :3

(And Maybe the aperture depending on the frame.)

  • @xOrderinChaos The Only Figures That I could make is Circle,Star,And Heart :((

  • @majimboo2020 Hmm that's maybe cuz the exposure timings small. Why don't you get ppl positioned in a row and they all can write one letter in the time that the shutters open? that way you might actually get the entire word.

You just increase the no. of people and they all do a small bit, then you'll manage with the point and shoot.

  • Can i use samsung camera.?!

  • excellent tutorial mate...just wanna ask if we can only use DSLR camera in light painting or can also work using portable digi cam?
