Before Aretha was crowned the Queen of Soul....she was a popular Jazz n Blues singer.

This is from her Columbia years. Aretha recorded some of the most moving ballads and swinging Jazz n Blues during this period. And anyone who knows her atlantic recording will know she never missed the pooportunity to include a Blues or Jazz standard in later years. look up "Queen in Waiting" and "Aretha Jazz to Soul" CDs"
