  • What were the sizes of the wood

  • Bro, You should just redo this video but with your better and more proven methods.

  • wat size qts do u use for a haktling snke tubs

  • hey,i got my racks built with heat cable, buttt im ganna build one with heat tape this time,ok how do you have ur heat taped going to ur thermostat if you have solid sides?isnt ur heat tape all wired together so youll have 1 plug in instead of 10,how does it go down each shelve if its solid

  • @gabegrant1 home depo has it man

  • what do you type into the walmart website to find all their different sizes of tubs?

  • Hey I was wondering if you could please please make a video on how to wire the flex watt heat tape in the specific circuits you use. Thnxx!!!

  • I have built racks the same way however for heat I have used a router to make a grooved winding like pattern at the back of the rack. I then lay a heat rope in the groov. Heat rope in my opinion is much much safer than flexwat or heat pads that create hot spots on your tubs and can melt your tub and harm your reptiles, they also create a more gentle heat and can be wire or plugged in to many thermostats.

  • @StevensExotics In more recent times I've been doing the exact same thing. Cant agree with you more, heat calbe all the way!

  • @HiImSteveDuh how many quarts is the tub?

  • nice job! looks as nice or nicer than a lot of the high dollar racks

  • do you have to use screws or can u use nails?

  • @TheShotgun004 Nails don't hold wood togther.. builders common knolage. you don't want it falling apart fo you. SCREWS. ^^

  • Your video are awesome man!Hey i was wondering how much did the melimene cost for this rack?and where did you get it?Like home depot or Lowes? Thanks man.Looking forward to your next video.

  • the heat tape doesent have to be any exact size right? like it it was a small cut piece it wouldent over heat?

  • I didn't realy understand the paper part can you explain it to me?

  • the paper is for the space for the headtape, i guess. after you build the racks, you will remove the paper and have engough space for the headtape.

if you dont do this before, you will have problems with getting each box out..there would be no smooth sliding.

i hope you understand what i say, bc my english sucks :x

    greetings

  • looks good man, how much did the melamine cost you?

how much was it total? appx is fine

  • hi this is going to sound like a dumb question but the do u have have to use heat tape or could u use reptile heating pads or will they get to hot?

  • ya you can use heat pads.

  • Hey Im breedign my Leopard Geckos. I was going to make a small rack and i was windering if u can use small Heating pads instead of tht other stuff.

  • ya you can.

  • alright thanks

  • hi i just asked like the same question lol then i read yours

  • hey man i was just wondering if u could send me the plans for the rack? that would be great thanks!!

  • how many sheets of papper did you use for this rack

  • 5 or so.try using CD disks as spacers, i think they work better.

  • how much did it cost to make the hole thing

  • i think it was about $130ish

  • that is the price he sells them fot

  • how many sheets of paper did you use per stack

  • 5 for hatchlings, 10-15 for adults.

  • wat can i use 5 sheets for a 28 qurt

  • i would use about 7.

  • ok.

  • Comment removed

  • yo i saw u sed that u make the racks and then sell them how much would u charge for a 41 qt rack???? like 10 tubs striaghtt down not side ways lmk thanks

  • nice rack man, ive been looking for someone to custom make a rack. do you have an email or a website thatwe could set something up on?

  • can you ship to chicago

  • Hey man, for how much did you sell that rack to the lady?

  • i think that one was $200.

  • Wait, u need 2 wires per sheet of heat tape?

    Dont delete these vids!lol

  • i wouldnt cheap your way with the heat, heats makes fire, fire burns wood, at the end you could lose alot of money. spend a little bit more money and do it write.

  • trust me that shit after 2-3 days is imposible to get off it's ment to hold sink leaks and if you get it a little wety it becomes like hot glue

  • what, painters tape?

  • no the foil tape i have it on my racks it's weak at first but it'll kick you in the ass later.

  • ya. but im still not a big fan of foil tape. its not very user friendly.

  • oh hell no it's not lol

  • lol

  • do you use a thermostat to control the temperature?

  • actually in this rack i used a lamp dimmer from home depo to control the temps.

  • you should show how to install it?

  • ok, ill make a video about that sometime in the future.

  • by far best video on making a rack ive seen so far 2shay

  • thanks

  • how much did you spend total on it and when you laid down the heat tape did you have the side where you can see the metal facing up?

  • I spent only about $100 total on this rack because I had some material left over from the last rack I made. But total with all the supplies it would ba about $130.

  • how much was all the wood? u used melamine right?

  • the wood was like $35, including having it cut for me.

  • cool.. thats a good price is it melamine?

  • ya it is, it wieghs like 50 lbs but it is the best wood out there for buildign racks out of because it stands up to humidity really well

  • cool i have a old shelve thing that im going to turn into a rack and put wood on the sides and back but im not sure if im going to use melamine, because the frame is already up.....

  • I liek using meleamine because it stands up so well to humidity, but i wouldn't use plywood or anythign liek that because its not good with humidty and will warp.

  • ya true, but will there be alot of humidity even if the tubs have the lids on?

  • no, if you have the lids on then humdity won't be an issue. but its a real pain in the ass to have to pull the tub all the way out of the rack, then take the lid off just to take a peek at the animal. I know it may not soudn like a big deal, but lids can really get in the way sometimes.

  • ya im not sure im only going to have like 6 tubs 5 for leos and maybe 1 for a bp because if i put it in the rack my mom probably will never notice, but im probaly just going to keep the lids on becuase my friends rack has the lids on and it isnt to annoying takeing them out all the way.... but thanks 4 the tip

  • :( lol i hate u ... teach my bf to build this shit lol

    <33

  • hey wear do you get the parts? nice vid i sub 5*

  • i get my stuff from home depo and the elctronics stuff from radio shack and the tubs from target.

  • so the heat tape on each shelf actually connects to one another correct ok i am taking notes from you and your tape on yours u dont use the foil at all correct just the painters tape right, i may just build mine instead of buying one offline just looking for a lil guidence awesome video bro 5*s

  • ya, i used the foil tape on this rack just to make it look nicer but painters tape works alot better and its easier to use. and thanks for the rating.

  • why do you have cable on each side of the heat tape?

  • because i string all the sections of flexwatt together so in the end it is like this: _

[_ the "_" is the strips of flexwatt _] the "[" is the wires connecting them

    [_

  • you dont need to do this though do you?

  • ya, you sort of do, unless you are jsut working with one one section of heat tape.

  • i dont get it. mine was a 3ft. increment and i only did one side and it works fine

  • if you only are doing one section of heat tape then you only need a wire on one side. but i use 5 sections so i connect them all together.

  • ohhhhh i get in now so you only have one plugin foor the whole rack

  • lol ya.

  • sorry i accidentally pressed post comment but can you plz make a short vid on how you put the heat tape in ?

  • can you plz make

  • i wish i built my baby rack with melamine, i went with shitty particle board which is basically melamine without the white plastic coating... And now, whenever the tubs get humid, the wood starts to bubble and the tubs don't slide out smoothly, its like sliding out tubs against sandpaper...

  • that sucks, you could try like painting it with like waterproof paint.

  • thats actually a great idea, but eventually, when i get the money, i might just destroy it and rebuild it using melamine, melamine shouldnt bubble, it doesnt right?

  • the part that is covered in plastic dosnt bubble, but the edges that arn't covered by the plastic part will bubble if you spray water directly on it, so you may want to put siding on the edges, to keep it from bubbling.

  • Just a quick question, what is siding and could i get it at home depot?

  • yes, it is right next to the melamine in home depo. It is like white strips with glue on them, and you use a clothing iron to melt the glue and you stick it to the edges of the melamine. but there are better directions on how to use it on the package of siding.

  • okay thanks, and one last thing, srry for all the questions, how much did all that melamine cost you, and what did you use to cover the screws?

  • $35 for the sheet of melamine and to get it cut for you.

and i just used screw caps for the screws, they are also found in the melamine section and cost $2 and the siding costs $5.

and its ok for asking questions, most of what I have found out I did the hard way, and it always pays to do research. plus there is nothing wrong with more comments.lol

  • yea i always like to do my research :) Just another quick question lol how big is the sheet of melamine? this way i can see how i can have them cut it... like whats the dimensions?

  • it is 4' X 8' (really it is 49"X 97")

  • where did you get those tubs? i need to make another rack and i can't find those tubs anywhere.

  • i got them at target.

  • steve do you happen to remember about how much all thw wood costed?

  • it is like $35ish, including them cutting the wood for you.

  • really? thats cheap ima make on

  • ya, i built the rack in that video for about $130, because the tubs were a bit pricey.

  • okay these videos helped me much on rack building thank you steve
