  • That's so cool man!

  • level 8?? pshhh easy as hell

  • Comment removed

  • I made a dolly like this today!!! It works perfect.

My pricetag ended on 61,79$ but it's totaly worth it!! :) Thank for this tutorial!!

Btw, I'm from Norway so I guess the materials are a little more expensive here..

  • FilmRiot FTW!!!

  • filmriot was here firrst

  • I can't find the proper "T" brackets....

  • I only watch these videos because I like the "Super Time Lapse Woow"-Part : )

  • many have asked... but no answer on which tripod he used, or anyone knows of a similar one? with removable parts

  • Filmriot does it for $10 :D

  • @JoshuaWGLloyd I do like Filmriot and the idea of theres, however you need a flat surface to place it on, and you also dont have any panning options.

  • i think its to glue the felt on

  • question! im gonna use it for a short film. Is the sliding sound too much noticeable?

also, where did u used the hot glue? i didnt get it.

and also, did u sew the T shaped PVC pieces? im not sure if i cut them in half if theyre gonna be fine when sliding..

  • Awesome! Can't wait to give this a go!

  • Any idea how to make a fake blood inside a shirt with a trigger?

  • @Mrskaterjake Do a search for 'squib' and you will find plenty of tutorials. Good luck.

  • can i just buy it from you?...XD

  • Where can i get a tripod with a removable head?

  • I think that this is a great idea. I do agree, however, that the demonstration was too subtle. I would have liked to have seen some examples of how I could use this slider that were a bit more dramatic. Thanks for the idea though. I think I'll end up building this eventually.

  • My dad is going to help me make this so thanks for the tips!

  • cool

  • it looks subtle because there is no concept of where you are moving to/from for the viewer or you when you look at it so before you say this is crap try moving from behind something to get the best possible look and by the way its 20 dollars so its not like you just threw away tuns of money and you could purpose it if you really hated it.

  • The test shots were way too subtle!

  • I miss the old BFX :(

  • awesome! it looks so smooth!

  • i like it how the tripod wasn't put with price of items

  • great job...

  • You are a fucking genius! I wanted a konova slider but hot damn that shit cost a grip! You guys just got a new fan! Subscribed!!!

  • Useless. Bad engineering. garden horse bitch!

  • Not bad at all !

  • can you post a video with a panoramic sliding?

  • Me: Meh...I should be able to make it

    Zack:...then, using a table saw...

    Me:...well F*ck...

  • @universialpasserby22

you guys CAN use a normal hand saw. You can pick them up at the dollar store for..well..a dollar. A table saw just turns a minuet long job into a 10 second job.

  • @universialpasserby22 You don't need a table saw. You can use a miter saw, or a band saw, or a circular saw, or a jig saw or heck a hand saw.

  • @universialpasserby22 Lowes and Home Depot will cut them for you when You buy them. Just give them the lengths :)

  • @universialpasserby22 You can use a hand saw, it will just take a lot longer. :D

  • He is awesome,,,,

  • Where did you get the non-pass through style T-fittings? I went to two local hardware stores without luck.

  • lame, sample only using one technique, try and be more of a teacher please!

  • i still dont get why they shut down bfx. was it a money issue or they just couldnt do it anymore

  • 360p again?!?!?

  • What type of "t-shaped" PVC connectors are those? I can't find them @ Home Depot...

  • @WoodruffProductions

It is called a "Pvc Saddle Tee". Google it...They range from $1 too $7 each depending on the size you want

  • trailer was good

  • Did the test footage use any slider shots?

  • Nice..

  • What tripod did you use in this video?

  • Cool , I like it!

  • tnx man greetings from monterrey mexico

  • I like how you exclude the actual tripod head from the price, subtracting about $120 from the total cost...

  • @Karrosh because when you buy a slider it's only the sliding mechanism

  • wait why do i even like a comment before i even get to the part there talking about?!?!

  • I miss this show:/

  • dude are you wearing a "threadless" t shirt?

  • I just finished making this 10 minutes ago! Search for my Facebook Page, ETHMedia, to see a picture of the finished project!

  • It stand the weight of a dslr camera and still slide?

  • Why dont you upload videos in HD??? That would be good...

  • If you put PTFE (teflon) tape on the inside of the slider, it'll go even smoother. PTFE tape is the stuff that's used to put plumbing pipes together and is readily available.

  • Threadless Shirt!

  • Im taking the slide and im going to put a camera crane on it. Should be pretty cool(:

  • DUDE I LOVE YOU my dad and i already have almost everything for this and we're gonna make it soon!

  • Really awesome channel here I subbed, but I agree with NICK9658 I didn't see and sliding techniques in the test film, maybe some very subtle slides but I was hoping to see some bigger movement than that either way I am going to try it for 20$

  • It comes out on my birthday :D

  • It comes out on my birthday:D

  • @loocow1554 i think he quit after season 2

  • home depot

  • Where can i get that pvc t?

  • @alpiel91 i don't know its not a standard tee its a weird clip like thing i went to home depot and they don't have it.

  • great video, awesome production skills. Just want to make a point on table saw safety. you should use the miter gauge when making the crosscut you made. it would support the board making it less likely to catch the back of the blade, spinning the board and fingers in to the blade. like I said, nice work. Just don't want some young film maker to get hurt. peace!

  • probably the best sollution i found on the internet. Thanks man, getting to work tommorow! :)

  • May God Bless U and your family.... U JUST SAVED ME $2000 PLUS because I was going to buy the redrock cienma bundle .... THANKS

  • ive just bought all the equiptment but i couldnt find any of the T pvc pieces , does anybody know if theres any alternative to them ?

  • @swansealongboarder get regular T-shapes and cut off the top. try looking at home depot, or any hardware store

  • @swansealongboarder buy regular pvc Tees and and use a handsaw to slot the tops then deburr with a file. When buying the Tees run your finger through the inside to make sure they don't have stops (ridges). His Tees were strange in that they had plugs already in them. Buy the regular Tees and some plugs and glue them in first.

  • Great t-shirt

  • that guy looks like Eli from Stargate: Universe

  • Can someone just make me one? I'll pay a little for it. Where does the hot glue gun come into play? The felt pieces?

  • "Be as safe as you are creative"

But what if I'm inversely creative!? D:

  • Erick Beck, return with BFX, PLEASE!!!

  • where did he get those T-shaped pvc pipes >.> i cant find them anywhere please help!!!!

  • @MixedMindsStudios I think he cut them because i cant find them anywhere either

  • is it just me or did that test film not use any "sliding" techqunies at all??

  • @NICK9658 just you

  • @NICK9658 actually it used it quite a bit, maybe not as much or in the way you were expecting but it did

  • @NICK9658 almost every shot had sliding involved... its very subtle but its there.

  • @NICK9658 almost every shot used a "sliding" technique, its called a "push in". Look at the corners of the frame and see how they slowly shrink towards the subject in the frame.

they had the slider pointed directed at their subject. :)

  • @moopsyproductions nah it was pretty gay. he should've exaggerated the movements just to show us.

  • @NICK9658 Watch the frame size, it's a slow push in, not as big as a dolly in, but a nice subtle touch.

  • @NICK9658 it did, it was just subtle.

  • @NICK9658 agree

  • Awesme! I loved it!

  • omg

  • GoD!?

  • LOL :D Very very funny video, please share more videos :)

  • @darkshala321 Indy mogul has finished bfx but you can go to waysidecreations channel where the old host of this show does bfx with more professional products :)

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttttt!

  • Great video. I was wondering if Masonite might also work instead of wood, just to make it lighter.

  • spray paint it silver for awesome looking coolness!

(idk if it would effect the slider though)

  • Looked everywhere for the T-shape PVC pieces but no finds. Can anyone help me out here? (I live in the UK)

  • @GreenLensProductions vacation to america. specifically to the Home Depot in Stony Brook, NY off of 25A. cuz they have a lot of them there.

  • that pacman t-shirt rocks

  • Difficulty 8 WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT

  • you should do how to make a puppet zack

  • Or a tripod on wheels -_-

  • @NonstopRam not smooth enough

  • @kiashadowwave I guess my stopmotion view point has blinded me from the reality of grass XD

    (just try skateboarding on grass)

  • An 8 on a difficulty scale of 1-10? I'd rate this about a 3!

  • you remind me of turtle of entourage.. :D but thx a lot for the video!

  • Thats sweet! Check out this NEW CAMERA CLAMP MOUNT on my page. It works great and is very versatile.

  • what camera heda did you user because i can't find one anywhere thats cheap

also what tripod do you use?

  • i wouldnt really consider this a level 8 build

  • I saw a guy at public that has the same shirt as Zach and got all excited :D

  • What did he use for T-PVC shape to pipe ?

    Is that a kind of a tape ?? @2.50

  • Sorry, I totally misunderstood where you were coming from.Yeah, I have to agree that a metal contruction would last longer and under some conditions you probably wouldn't want to use wood equipment. Metal isn't that much harder to work with, but it does require a few more tools.

  • I was actually mislead by the fact the 3/4 snap T are way large, but once mounted to the center piece will not come off the pvc tubing. MeehMBJr is correct about the size. Built one, and it works like a charm. Also the intro doesn't bother me a bit. The entire tutorial is only 4:46 mins long. I like a host with a bit of personality.

  • Would love to see a DIY made out of metal or something. Something would look slightly more professional. Maybe using rollers and bearings?

  • @yeahdude111 Are you more interested in the end result, or the gear? I know a lot of people like the look of big metal "Hollywood" equipment, when they hire ppl, but I'd rather they look at my work and judge by that. Raimi got one the coolest effects at the time with just a 2X4 and two guys running on either end. I'm out to make films on the cheap, and when my work pays the bills I'll buy professional gear.

  • @NelsonStJames, By all mean i agree with you, But I mean it would be interesting to see some designs made out of metal or even galvernite (excuse the spelling) just think it would 1) look a lot better than wood and 2) maintenance in theory would be a lot easier not to mention doesnt have the same problems with weather exposure, Such as bowing, rotting or what not.

All in all im very impressed with your ability to do what you do. its awesome!

  • wheres da other guy

  • @loocow1554 eric u mean???? dude haven't u watched any of the other recent episodes?

  • For those of you who cant find the T joints, you can just use a normal pvc pipe piece slightly bigger than your rail pvc pipe instead and saw it in half.

  • The last was in 2010 sent him?

  • 1 min 20 sec into the video and you finally get to the point. The slider is great but please spare us the jovial presenter and the puppet show. Thanks for uploading though.

  • sick promo. I just use my longboard as a slider.

  • MAKE A RC XD explosion

  • nice.

  • Also, instead of putting the tripod head on the wood plant to slide, you could just but a 1/4 inch threading bolt to go through the wood plank and into the camera (what I did.) This works well but tilting the camera isnt as easy. At the same time, who know what kind of tripod he has that has a removable head like that.

  • I built this using 3/4 snap T's with a 1/2 because the 1/2 on 1/2 is to tight. It came out a little loose but you just have to make it work. Im still trying to perfect it but it didnt work well on a tripod. The weight was to heavy when on either end and would bounce because of that. These T-joints arent at Home Depot but i did find them at Lowes.

  • @AmericanMuscle193 I wonder how well it would work using a speaker stand rather than a tripod. Attaching it would probably be different but modifications aren't always bad.

  • большое СПАСИБО за подсказку

  • Update on the snap T. A 1/2 snapT and 1/2 pvc is too tight. so he's using something inbetween those two sizes. C'mon Zack just tell us. I've already gone over budget experimenting with these snap T's.

  • Have you guys heard of Cam Caddie? I stumbled upon one a few months ago and it's great for smooth moving shots. It also has attachments for lights mics and such. $38 ain't bad either.

  • look at all that spray paint :]

  • nice one and that film trailer was actualy beast looked so real :)

  • Or you could just use a normal dolly this looks like crap and you have to destroy your tripod

  • well, that looks good ... until you use it in different weather... that wood is "living" material, which is "working" inside and its not mold-resistant. plastic is also a material, which is is vulnerable to sun, etc... think you can use it for a short time, but i`m happy to have a metal based construction teflon slider... buying cheap somethimes means buying twice times (or more) ..

  • Last note on the snap T's. I wasn't able to find any locally, but they are readily available online, but beware some of the "PVC Distributors" . A snap T only cost around 60 cents and four weigh less than 1lb, but the company charged more in shipping and handling than I paid to have a bicycle shipped to my house. When I rec'd it I noticed that it only cost them 1/4 of what they charged. Guess it's a lot of work to throw some plastic in an envelope and toss it in outgoing mail!

  • i am using a wooden board and a skating shoe it saves u work too hard on it and gives u the same effect and even much better u can choose how long the board u need

  • Comment removed

  • where the heck do you buy snap t's! i hate ordering things online cuz then u have to wait :/

  • One question. I have a rode mic almost always on my 60D. will the slider be too noisy or is it pretty quiet?

  • VERY HELPFUL!

  • Were the pvc T joints 1/2 inch like the the pipes or 3/4 inch

  • @AmericanMuscle193 I bought some 3/4 inch snap T's and they were definitely too large. Guess I'll order some 1/2 inch and see how those work. I'm amazed that no one has mentioned this in all this time.

  • Hey Zack! Couple of questions:

    1. Where did you find PVC T connectors with no hole in the top?? Or did you fill the hole in with something?

(Also, there is a stop on the inside of the T connectors to prevent the PVC pipes from covering the top hole when connecting them. This can affect the fit on the pipes.)

    2. How did you cut the T connectors? Obviously, there are several ways to do it (ie. table saw, hand saw - I used my multi-tool).

It would be helpful if you explained these two elements.

  • Nice ruler.

  • can u make a knife gun. like a cross bo

  • I'm revisiting all the BFX episodes, and this was one of the ones I place at the top. It helps raise any production to the next level, and isn't specific to some commercial property. I'm building one this week, and coming up with a test to use it on. Knowing there are so many more quality projects like this that would help filmmakers out makes me kind of sad to see BFX go.

  • Too much hype & garbage & repetition. 1:30 before they get into it. -- Low grade vid.

  • i used regular t shaped pvc pieces, i had to put a plug in the top part so i could screw it in and cut off half of the bottom and it worked perfectly. this project only cost me 12 dollars!

  • @qazels: I had to do the same thing for my camera slider.

  • Where do you get those kind of t shaped pvc? I've looked EVERYWHERE.

  • Great design. Here's my awesome dslr shoulder rig! watch?v=RdS0EtmhFz4

  • Make star wars clone armor plz

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE making things, and although they had deemed the difficulty to be an 8, I found it quite simple to make. Gonna test it out tonight! I am confident it will work well!

  • I have a friend who made a 30 foot dolly, we used it for every shot the he was there for

  • /watch?v=eoX957TVyrQ

If anyone can improve this tut that would be awesome. I found it while searching around on how to make spring loaded airsoft guns have a blowback slider.

  • Going to buid it this weekend but going to make it 5ft long and have joiners so that they can form longer tracks. I will do a video response and give thanks to you guys. This rocks!

  • Where does the hot glue come in?

  • @mogyesz225 I guess he used that for putting the felt on over the screw heads.

  • @mogyesz225 the pieces of felt

  • @mogyesz225 i think the sticking the felt on

  • @mogyesz225 The felt pieces on the pvc pipe tees

  • @mogyesz225 To hold the felt in place.

  • @mogyesz225 for the felt in the T pieces...

  • They already have most of the expensive stuff, they dont include that in the price. Would be nice to know if you are starting from scratch
