  • I have a blofeld , I rate it 7/10

Bad: need more voices due unison, phasing in unison, onboard knobs for presets isnt accurate, LFO doesnt work properly, bad adapter turns off sometimes, wont work if you have a logitech cam installed xD, can't sync tempo to my software :(

Good: Wavetables, multimode filters x2!, modulation abilities, its small size, brilliance on oscs, USB midi, HIGH quality, good presets, brilliant support from Waldorf! Multitimbral, easy to udpate OS ;)

    Get one!

  • @djjessebase10 Well I'll be a... removing the Logitech Webcam drivers from WinXP worked! I can now see the Waldorf Blofeld in SEQ24 and I can send MIDI commands to it. Until now I was connecting it to my Yamaha YPT320 or Korg R3 via a MIDI cable. Thanks!!!

  • Ciao come si fanno a salvare dei preset creati da me? Grazie

  • he IS ICHI-BAN-(#1)

    DOMO arigato go saimas!

(sorry for my bad spelling. . .)

    namaste

    :-)

  • feeling very japenesee right now=) I really think so

  • Sensei! How is it on bass sounds?

  • how you sexy with shitty sounds?

  • The host may be speaking Japanese, but music is a universal language, and the language of Blofeld is wonderful.

  • The performance in the end....magical. This man is the master. The outmost master. Wow.

  • something tells me I should sell some of my smaller synths and get this

  • Humorous for sure.

  • totally agree, these are the best reviews on the web!

  • @spargiulo1

He is very good. I wish I spoke Japanese because his reviews are great. Even though I cannot understand him it is very informative if you pay attention. Most people who understand synths know what he is talking about. He is a true Sensei.

  • @Franzko787 click the little cc button below the video......it will translate with sub captions.

  • Informative and engaging as usual, best reviews on the web.

Love the synthetic sound, moves well beyond analog imitation

  • come dice spesso Agnese, non capisco il giapponese!

  • love the last half of the vid when he create a electronic whale song!

  • I´m in love with this synth.

    It sounds great!

  • Sounds more like a Korg product than something Wolfgang put together. I'd stick with the XT (or a PPG if you can find one LOL).

  • Hi,

Thanks for these videos, it sure helped me decide and purchase my blofeld.

Please check it out and see what can be done with it on this demo (or others):

"Waldorf Blofeld - this is techno" by ittaital

    Thanks,

    Ittaital

  • Anyone know where I can sell one of my friends into slavery so I can afford this thing? =P

  • Ebay.

  • Ah. =P

  • @Chumleh its not actually that expensive

  • Thanks musictrack jp! what a great review....I find Synthesis to be a universal language..Its clear our friend is showing the smooth filters and cool mod options,as well as the vast range of sounds this lil blofeld can belt..That seals it for me...looks like I'll be grabing a new blofeld over an $600-$700 used virus b.

  • I understand no Japanese, however this is the BEST BY FAR demo I've seen of the Blofeld. Why oh why can't some English-speaking reviewer do this?

  • I know.

Actually the first thing I wondered is how a Japanese person is going to understand the display if it's all in English

  • @Greensmurf yeah. i thought that too but the language of music knows no boundaries

  • @Norch2099 Definitely. A lot of people sometimes complain about a demo being in a different language. Those people forget that first of all, this is an international site, and second of all, he shows that this thing sounds great regardless of what he might be saying

  • hmm, would it be good to get both?

  • thanks for the REAL inspection. that's how you review

  • Congratulations!! You are now officially infekted!! :-) I also like the blofeld and i think it will be a definite purchase in the future for me. Enjoy!! :-)

  • U can plug it to Computer and edit parameters? it looks not comftable to modulate

  • I have my blofeld about 1 week but im a little disapointed. A great machine, great sound and capacibiltys , no doubt, but no multi-sounds from factory or multi arp combinations ready to play with rihytmic paterns for example, in waldorf site either they doesnt have to much suport for this gear, a few new sound sets or even an editor will be welcome, lets wait and see about that and the SL licence maybe takes the machine for another rank.

  • program your own sounds bro

  • Ok plz ppl which one is better this or the virus snow.............i play hardstyle and trance

  • hey man i think i know you from somewhere... i think your one of my friends on youtube, but ive been wanting the TI i do hardstyle and uk herdcore, the blofeld is looking like a better option. It depends on the sound you want. Everybody has a TI, so if you want to stand out, get something different :)

  • both of these german synths are not near as good as the great american alesis ION, MICRON. trust me they sound a lot more fatter and analogish.

    virus/waldorf sounds like effing software!

german products are highly overrated and expensive!

  • Did you just recommend a Micron?

AHAHAHAHAHAHA silly little truffle....The Alesis Micron is a mere child's toy. You probably use a MicroKorg to don't you? HAHAHA....yeah. Blofeld blows the CRAP out of any Alesis synth.

  • i own a micron and its terrible compared to this..... i am definitely going to get a blofeld

  • Comment removed

  • Not true...I own an ION, and it's the phattest/warmest VA in existence.

  • @MARANTZamp you must be fucking joking. ION sounds cold, thin and plastic.

  • Really?

They're completely different animals, directed at different customers, voiced for different types of musics, they doesn't even produce sounds in the same way, all in all they're not comparable. Not everyone wants "fatter" and "analogish".

Unless you want to make a patriotic statement. Then of course the instruments made in your home country is the best ones.

  • this dont sound like a VSTi. and this is definately not expensive.

  • I just bought a Virus Snow about 1 week ago and have only slept about 5 hours all together!! I love this little machine!! Its a little pricey but you get the Virus Control and you can add or delete sounds in your DAW or in Virus Control. I believe this is why it is priceier than the blofeld and it sounds are huge!!!!!

  • yea my mate just got a virus ti, cant wait to check it out... am getting the blofeld, it sounds absolutely amazing, will set it up next to me mates ti and do some comparisons

  • I'd like to know what you think about them side by side. Differences and likenesses :-)

  • no worries just add me as a friend and i will let you know, ti should get here early this week

  • Amazing synthesizer. Manages everything from cold digital to warm analog and does a lot more; wavetables, sample and hold etc etc. Excellent arpeggiator. Monstrous!!!

  • Nice demo despite the fact that I dont speak Japanese. Thank you for exploring this synth so well.

  • got one, compared to microkorg, blofeld sounds tooooooooooo digital :/

  • i wanna hang out with this guy so bad.....!

  • AAAH fuck i cliked the thumb down goddamn misclick

  • IAM SAD LOL.. ahha SOme one know if i can find a REAL ANALOG Small portable synth like this one for less than 1K...

  • look for vintage stuff on craigslist. I found a Roland Juno 6 with a Roland Cube amp for only $350.

  • look at the Dave Smith Evolver rack...something like 500 USD

  • I THOUGHT IT WAS ANALOG :(

  • its virtual analog

  • nice video and very powerful synth. basses, pads, e-pianos, oldschool leads... you name it, it does it! 3 osc per voice, no? sounds like a good buy to me

  • burofuerodo de gozaimasu!

  • Comment removed

  • I just got mine today. a few things to mention other than the known volume sound differencesthat can be fixed. i noticed the inside display screen is a little crooked. it's not that bad but i can notice it. go figure i get one crooked! i was wondering if any other blofeld owners noticed this on theirs? also my volume knob was a bit loose not tight like the others. maybe all this is common sice i was told they are hand made. thanks for any info

  • ahah he looks so proud at the end of the video. Does anyone knows if it is analog?

  • no its not analog

  • Amazing machine! beautiful sound!

  • Hat's of, I didn't got a single word, but I understood everything he wanted to say. Great man, great review! I hope Waldorf will reward him.

  • This is probably the BEST DEMO i ever saw online. And i m probably gonna buy this toy thanx to it...Arigatou gozaimasu !

  • you are so cool guy but you can add some english subtitles?

  • does the arpegiator work as a sequncer as well maybe?

  • kind of

  • what do you mean by kind of?

like would it be better, as in it can sequence/change pitch?

or should I even worry with my korg emx

  • WOW!! the 70ies NoDrugs preset sounds incredible! i need a blofeld...

  • He managed to give me an idea of how the machine work and sound even if I couldn't understand a word! Excellent!

  • Dude, get a Blofeld and do a demo yourself...

  • 優秀!! I don't understand what he's saying, (except the word 'effects') but these videos are good as demos

  • japanese guy reviewing a german synth! when japan makes way better ones...korg, roland, yamaha

  • most of the recent german synths ive saw are better than the modern day japanese ones if you ask me. japan makes good digital ones, but in terms of actual synthesizers; based off of true synthesis, europe's are far superior. -shujincell

  • waldorf blofeld "potatoe-synthesizer"

at 2:37 min.: "Kartoffel". It´s the german word for potatoe. funny.

But after all, it´s a nice review with awesome sounds out of that great "made in germany" synthesizer.

  • I have the Blofeld. This is a great synth for a very small price. Nice review!

  • Great info, and I think I am now sold. The James Bond reference also is hot.

  • Extremely good review. Even though its in japanese, it makes perfectly good sense for those who are into synths and such.

I really wouldnt mind purchasing one of those. :/

  • Swietna prezentacja :)

  • Sounds...so good!

    In a package that's....so tiny!

  • it seem to be a real bargain, but I wonder what the guy says

  • To bad i dont know japanese!

    But this looks good!

  • Great Test! Cool LFO graphic. ;)

  • how simple it is ! the guy doesnt even speak english and i understand the video - he PLAYS the sounds......varies them. When wil, people realise that this is all most people want - to know a synths sound palette more ! nice one to the japanese guy........at last i know what this synths character is !

  • Thanks. Looks quite interesting

  • Nice demo, no fuking around stright into the presets. That Korgs keys sound like shit.

  • Very informative, thanks!

  • This is a great review, even though I dont understand a single word this guy's saying :)

  • Nice !

  • Well, that's Japanese inspection for you. Great video, thanks!

  • Very useful, Thanks!

  • Very useful video. You make me understand some edit facilities, not mentioned in the manual - even I dont speak Japanese. I think I'll be a better BLOFELD player. Thanks.

  • Fantastic . . . Loving this little synth

  • Finnaly a real Review! I dont understand anything this guys says, but this gives a much better impression of how the modul works, and how one works with it! Thanx alot!

  • Compact!! Beauty!!

  • at last... a REAL blofeld inspection. so gald to find this.
