cheungs wing chun is not awful and btw boztepe just hoped on. Him without him knowing in reality grandmaster will bear him. u think u know everything bout grandmaster u talk as if u can beat him
Cheung's Wing Chun is truly awful, if you want to get beat up in a street fight try using it! It is obvious from films of Yip Man that Cheung's style is very very different to what he taught (films of Yip Man at the end of his life so he himself did not change it any further). The footwork, arm positions, strategy in Cheung's Wing Chun just plain terrible and very unrealistic for a real fight. After Boztepe beat him up Cheung students must be in denial his Wing Chun is any good or practical.
I met Grandmaster Cheung at a Wing Chun seminar about a week ago. He's getting old. Great guy, very funny. That's the world record for most punches in a second. 8.3. INSANITY.
i train under Grand Master William Cheung, i absolutely love wing chun very different to full contact Karate i studied that for 6 years and taught for two, uh where can i find that extra footage
The ignorance of some of the comments here is a joke to me. The guy who said there's no power there misses the point entirely and shows what a moron he is. The punches are meant to be superfast because they are being thrown in trapping range close in after the gap has been closed. Once Cheung enters trapping range, nobody is blocking his strikes. He has the records for most punches thrown in one second-8.3. Please guys, THINK before you write.
That's if he can get in trapping range. And then it depends if his trappling is effective. Only an absolute n00b would fall for that shit.
I've trained Wing Chun, so I feel I can make valid comments. How gives a shit if they're superfast? It's not gonna cause damage if it hits me - superficial damage at most.
Those punches lack the concussive power that REAL, PROPER punches have
well to be honest with you the point of the Roll Punch is to get it as fast as possible and its aimed at pressure points in the chest which i wont go into now, which builds up and builds up on the damage
Can't you all just get along? Please stop insulting a man you have never met. Every fighter lives a hard life and Mr. Cheung is no exception, he doesn't deserve people (spending time that could be spent training) saying bad things about him.
Go outside and make the future instead of arguing about the past.
I've been to William's Wing Ching Training center here in Melbourne, in the city, on Lonsdale st. He even showed me pics of him and Bruce Lee. Yip Men was his and Bruce lee's sifu also.
my dads best friend a few years ago was put into contact with william by chance meeting and the two started a very friendly relationship. i was introduced to grandmaster only a few times when i was younger and was always embarrassed to asked to be trained. my dads friend was personally instructed by grandmaster for a few years and it started getting pretty serious. Grandmaster even purchased a rare mook jong i think its spelt wooden dummy. i saw him punch that wall in person.
Especially when he does the bong sau that involves the lungs and a lighter rather than the forearms. I live in the same city as this guy and have trained with him, I can honestly say that he is the most talented self promoter in the world. All his best fighters were trained by his brother david, emin may be a wanker but he showed bill up for what he is, an old man whose time has past and who lives in the past. Yes he was a good fighter in his youth, but he is also 6 feet tall.
Grandmaster clocked the "official" record at 8.5 in 1 second, but he did that without strethcing, breathing, or, well... trying. Bruce Lee did indeed have a documented number of 18 or 19, but Bruce had admitted many times that he never was, and he thought never would be, faster than William Cheung.
my favourite practitioner - however his world record has been smashed, by a jim fung student-not sure of exact figures but over 700 in 1 minute. thats a sustained record of over 11 a second!
This man u see in this video is Grandmaster William Cheung...show some respect....he is student of Yip Man and close friend of Bruce Lee....this man punched me once in a seminar....his strength even at his 70s is unbelivable...
I read that William cheung go the most punches in 1 second record in 1984 with 8.3 punches in 1 second. That would mean he was 44 when he did it. What a great martial arts man. Bruce Lee called him the ultimate fighter.
He has conducted himself with dignity and class all his life.
Why do dickheads just come out with "bruce did 20" where is the proof for that. No doubt great martial artists like Bruce lee and hwang jang lee had exceptional speed. But the fact is Lee said Cheung was better than him. Cheung broke this speed record when he was 44!
Although fast, they wouldnt hurt that much due to the fact theres so little power behind them!!! but impressive tho

its sad that the best ma in the world is the most divided one with most false masters.
almost every town in the world has its own w(v)ing ch(ts t c)un master.
but i wouldnt realy call boztepe a fraud.
id like to hear your opinion on sifu heinrich pfaff and sifu samuel kwok also.

He DOES deserve it, though because he's LYING.
When people speak lies that at the expense of their teacher and their kung fu brothers they do in fact deserve to be called on it. Willy is a liar.
