  • my bas only gos down to E but i isee and hear some gs from the octave below, how?

  • i play tuba and bass and a common misconception is that they are not vital in music, but really they are the foundation, the base of it all. without them, the music is nothing but squeaky high pitched noises

  • whoa.. your good!

  • where i dont have to download it

  • where do i find sheet music :D ???

  • Wow! I love this insrument so much

  • i've got a question for im looking in to getting a upright bass and i was wondering what brand and model that bass is?

  • hey good video! its awesome...

  • what are the notes or tabs or what website can I find this

  • omg 1:15

  • lol...black bow hairs...

  • considering it's era and the technology it was made for this is an amazing song

  • Unfortunately I suck at and hate reading tabs and bass sheet music is impossible to find anywhere.

  • german bow is better dude.

  • lol Doublebass... i speak french, so i didn't know the name in english ( in french it is the equivalent on coun

  • Ur really good dude. But I think ur bow hold is a little weird just saying. But over all u r an amazing bass player I hope to b as good as u as I progress in playing bass

  • I think the sheet music might be different from whats in your video.

  • 60 people wish they had a bass.

  • Amazing!

    So nice!

  • If you guys like the upright bass check out jazz musician Esperanza Spalding. She talks about her new album, Chamber Music Society in this video, Youtube.com/watch?v=uk-oJGAXSjA

  • That's pretty cool. Tough bow work that song is.

  • i love the double bass.. i play it and i love it..

do you have music for it?

    good job :D

  • grat job can you tell me where i can get the notes

  • Pretty amazing, only I think that the last tune could have been more beautiful with more glissando.

  • Ahaha thats awesome

  • i heard 1:31 on the simpsons hit and run! lol

  • supertyphoon what kind of bow do you use

  • can you link the music for cello?

  • Damn! I love the sound that comes from the bass <3

Im playing electric bass now, but I want to pick Double bass soon, and Im looking for one.

    Price range: €300-€600

What kind brand of bass would you suggest?

  • is the website safe like i wont get a virus

  • A few notes are sour, and you don't accentuate properly, but the feel is there & your instrument and bowing are amazing!

  • I love the way your bass sounds man. And great job on the 3rd one!!!

  • wie hält der denn den bogen?!

  • That was awesome! I'm first chair sixth grade at my shcool, and I want to learn how to play like that. Where can I get that sheet music? Also, the slurs were cool...

  • @XpaparoachfanX me too

  • its cool, but u need to play each note individualy, dont do lots of notes with same bowing, songs bad

  • @pelonpelonchaz Let me see you do better, you don't even no what slurs are.

  • @pelonpelonchaz some parts it is better to slur the note though, if you played each not individually you'd notice a big difference.

  • im a young bass player and i want to know how to play better

  • he nice video...!!! But I have some question... do you still need to put rosin on the double bass bow?

  • Yes, very sticky rosin

  • it doesn't necessarily have to be bass rosin though. if you cant find any at your local music shop, you could use cello rosin (but you seriously shouldn't)

  • player player GIRL !!

  • Cold anyone tell me where i might me abled to get the sheet music? Thanks

  • One more thing could you make a new video just like this but showing finger movements??

  • Comment removed

  • hey what version is this? because in the sheet music it is mainly on the G-string not the D A E Strings

  • In this video, I played the music an octave lower because I wasn't good enough to play it in the G string.

  • @SuperTyphoon How many years have you been playing? because i find playing on the higher strings is easier than the lower

  • @SuperTyphoon na, you good enough to play on the G, you just gotta learn how to shift

  • remidamp

  • Dude i play the bass and im in 6th grade!I want to know how to play that!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...awesome.

  • you. are. awesome :D

  • nice lol

  • wow thats cool

  • I think you need to redo this video and upload and compare the two so you can see just how much improvement you've made at UNT.

    just sayin'. <3

  • how cood u say ths is terrible...this is pretty damn good if ur gonna tlk mak a vid nd post it as a response

  • This is terrible....

  • o...i see... srry bout tht

  • ur not holding the german bow right

  • Because I'm not holding a german bow.

  • @SuperTyphoon lmao. good responce. XD

  • Quick question: it's been five years or so since I last touched a string bass, but that's a French bow, right? I've never held mine like that. I've usually had my thumb on the bottom for stability.

...then again, I played at 5' 3", so maybe I'm just an abnormality.

  • i play the bass 2

  • @MrPhillygsteak Me too :P

  • @SuperTyphoon German is SO much better.....

  • he is holdiing a french bow

  • @disdatwat3 its a french bow

  • @disdatwat3 That's a French bow... Look closer next time before you try to sound smart.

  • @disdatwat3 it's a french bow, not a german bow

  • @disdatwat3 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • ive never seen the german bow hold in action, i myself prefer the french bow hold

  • I just started playing bass, im not sure what bow to use. French or german? Give me your opinions please. Can I get some pros/cons of each bow? Thanks.

  • well, I've played both I like German as its more natural and gives you more torque

  • Trust me: it makes no difference. Some people say French is better for solo music and German is better for orchestra, or that French has a more "natural" position (like the rest of the strings) which makes it more versatile, while German gives you a lot more natural weight. Ideally, you should learn both, however, not at the same time. My sugggestion is to find a really good techer, and learn whatever bow he plays. Once you are an advanced player, you could learn the other one.

  • Just to finish the idea: both bows have very different pros and cons, but at the end they're not significant enough. Both techniques are equally easy/hard to learn; the important thing is that you learn it properly. The only significant thing would be this: if you ever want to study or play in Germany or Austria (for classical music), you've better learn German bow, since they don't allow French (in most cases). Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

  • Lol my conductor yells at me all the time for posture then i fixed it! I do french bow i h8 german style.

  • my teacher doesnt even have german bows

  • Most players only play one bow, because that's what their teachers tought them. Very few bass players in the world can play equally good with both bows, simply beacuse it takes years to trully master either technique. Most people who "play" with both bows either 1) Play one well, and mess around with the other, or 2) They can't really play well with either one. Still, there are a few exceptions.

  • what kind of bowing technique is that if i ever played like that my conductor would kick me out

  • It's a bit more delicate of a hold, I usually don't bow like that either, but I hear it gives you some more dexterity when you play.

  • I agree, my bowing technique was horrible back then... it's much better now that i am receiving formal teaching from a world-renowned bass player.

  • Unless your conductor is a bass player, he/she's got no buisness talking to you about technique. Unfortunatelly, most highschool conductors are what's called "Strings Ed" majors, which means they only learn very little, basic technique for each instrument, but they don't actually know how to ply them (exept, MAYBE, they're main one). What you need is an actual Bass teacher (trust me: it makes all the difference).

  • BTW: I'm NOT telling you to go tell your conductor that he's got no business talking to you about technique! That'd be really disrespectful to him, specially if he's your bass teacher. All I'm saying is, if he's not a bass player, and you're serious about learning bass, then you should find a good bass player to teach you. And if you learn to get the musical results, your conductor won't even care about your technique. After all, if you play with your feet, and it sounds nice, then, who cares?!!

  • i understand where you are from they don't have jokes? heh

  • Well, the only reason I replied to your coment, was because you mentioned your conductor (not your bass teacher). Unfortunatelly, many conductors of student orchestras love to correct the musicians' techniques when they don't even know how to play the instrument (no conductor in a pro orchestra would ever think of doing such a think). I've been there, I hated it and, as a professional bass player, I was just trying to give you some advise; not a lecture or anything like that.

  • Im a pro bass player too!

  • no biggie man, my conductor isn't my bass teacher, but he is a bassist, and im not a classically trained bass player, i'm a jazz cat so i gotta take some helpful advice now and then

  • That was freaking cool!!

  • freakin awesome! Gotta go try this out

  • ooooooooooo mozart

  • dude i had problems opening this please give step step instructions to me

  • hmm awesome for the instrument but sounds really mellow dramatic like someone about to get bitten

  • dude you good

  • idk but does the sound of bass make anyoneelse depressed or is it just me?

  • no way! you if you look you can find some of the happiest music played on bass, if your in an early christmas mood look up stu hamm's sleigh ride bass cover, or anything by marcus miller. super happy stuff

  • idk just the sound of this makes me deperssed :( im gonna check those out ho

  • just u. hahaha

  • I don't know but one of my dogs absolutely loves the bass. She sits by the endpin and doesn't move unless I move and falls asleep there.

  • EMO

  • the only thing i hate about playing the bass is its difficult to pluck fast. and i mean like from the G string to the A string

  • your intonation isn't very accurate :X

  • I think it's the sheets. Cause he didn't make that mistake just once..

  • hmm not mistake. like intonation in general. and the tone isn't very good either. or it could just be the problem with the bass.

  • you suck

  • AMAZING

  • thats frickin awesome

  • this is really cool !

I hope to play nintendo music on the bass someday =]

  • That fucken shit waz badass!

  • do you know anything about stringed instruments, and the weight of those bows that you have to move around?

  • well bows are usually very light and its not the weight its your technic of use.Well thats how i put it.

  • Cello bows are heavy for their size, and swinging them around the strings gets easier, but for a beginner it's tough, seeing that they aren't used to it. Bass bows are at least two times the weight of the Cello bow, and is a little challenging to move across the strings.

  • this is awesome!!

  • 1 I can't find the midis T.T two nice playing

  • nice bowing!

  • bass is awesome!

  • amazing playing, song needs to be a bit faster, but the notes are dead on.

  • omgahh wat are the notes for thoes songs...if u could tell me i would die plz.

  • please teach me vibrato please :D

  • you shake your hand... up and down in the case of bass and violcello

  • wow. that is not right at all. it's a lot more than that. vibrato on bass is a gentle rocking motion of the left hand the higher in pitch you get the faster the rocking.

  • i was going for laymans terms

  • oh sorry. no disrespect intended.

  • Awesome!
