There is no gainsaying the size and power of Chernov's voice. Granted that I haven't heard him in person. But I have friends who have, and they assure me that VC's voice resounds throughout the Met; and is such, it is certainly a major-league instrument, with impressive dynamic control as well as its sheer thrust and range.

My friends assure me as well of VC's absolute commitment to the role at hand, which we can certainly hear in this recording:) --

Sebbene il MIO Rigoletto è e sempre sarà ol grandissimo Tito gobbi(Mattatore,attore assoluto sul palcoscenico..e lòpera è teatro!!)Chernov lo fa molto bene.Ha una voce chìo chiamo"D'amendole amare"

Of course,my dear friend,he has no comparison with Gobbi..Gobbi was THE MASTER for excellenece in the veristic re´creation of Rigoletto...but thisversion is pretty good,too..without the tragical implicances of Gobbi magisttral,unique performance,indeed!..but...goo­d.
