  • how come the wicked witch of the west

  • In the book they were actually silver - they changed them for the film to make them stand out. Being only the second film to be made in Technicolor, some colours were easier to render than others - it took over a week to find a shade of yellow for the Yellow Brick Road that didn't look green on camera!

  • Dorothy, give those slippers to Elphaba! Right now! Glinda, how dare you betray (?) your friend like that!

  • @TheWickedElphaba96 lol I get what you did there.

  • I have a question, why did Dorothy want to go back to Kansas when she had killed the two witches and Miss Gulch was still alive?

  • LoL At :52 she seems to be wearing stockings.

  • those shoes are the only things i had to remember her by and now that wretched little farm girl has walked off with them! wicked quote anyone?

  • It would be so funny if someone did a mash up with the wicked witch and rhoda from The Bad Seek , where she was demanding Leroy to give her her shoes. LOL

  • From ages I loved these ruby slippers LOL

  • @hernita88 they used to make exact replicas for girls back in 1990's my cousin had a pair of them. lol i was so jelous

  • If the witch has no power in Munchcin City then how does she disappear in a cloud of sulfer?

  • I always thought the ruby slippers were the most beautiful things ever.

  • In the Original story, the shoes was not a ruby. It was a Silver that represents a lot of meaning but without it, it removes the whole case scenario behind the meaning of the whole scene. Too bad.

  • @ASIANBOYZPRODUCTION your grammar is what is too bad

  • @jamerikan5689 yawn

  • @jamerikan5689 yawn

  • @jamerikan5689 Yawnnnn

  • @ASIANBOYZPRODUCTION I read they switched to Ruby because this was the first movie done in color and the red shoes really shows off the color.

  • At 0:52, if you look closely at her feet you can see she that her feet aren't green!

  • That green bitch scared the pants off of me from the ages of 3-12.

  • I love how Glinda's smiling like this is some kind of fucking joke.

  • @leopardstar5556 That's because Glinda is happily watching her plan to kill the two Wicked Witches, remove the Wizard, and assume the role of supreme ruler of Oz come together. Not a Glinda fan.

  • that ugly dumd on i mean come on slippersb realy

  • so glinda conspired to kill her all along....

  • One of the greatest movies of all time! And made in 1939.. THAT's incredible.

  • Glinda: "She's worse than the other one." Funny how she says that grinning ear to ear unintimitated

  • @medalgear654 When she says it, its sounds worse. I don't want to know her sister is worse then her! OMG

  • HOLY SHEIT! 1939! i know this has been restored but still this quality is AMAZING

  • The ruby slippers were not to protect, but just created for her sister to walk. The wicked witch of the east was wheelchair bound. The witch of the west always said it was her fault, so she powered the shoes to that her sister may walk again. The Ruby slippers were powerful in " family " Reason being as to why Dorothy could " always go home ". The witch of the west was just Misunderstood. <3Elphaba<3

  • i wonder where the red brick road goes?

  • @FreddyParkin1 The red brick road goes to the castle of the prince. The one that is not used anymore by the king and queen. To which the prince sends The witch of the west to live. The guards there become her servants.

  • Was anyone besides me. watching Glinda tell off and trick the west witch, was thinking: Wow, Glinda just pwned her like a boss

Why doesnt Glinda do something more then just give dorothy the slippers, and then waits till Dorothy kills the witch, THEN tells her how to go home. Im thinking Glinda conspired to murder the witch the entire time just so she wouldnt have to do it XD

  • @Hellsboundedsoul Glinda just wanted everyone to think that it was the perfect story. Emerald city wanted a witch captured and Dorothy had to learn a lesson about responsibility. Glinda wasn't going to let anything happen to Dorothy and neither was the Witch. Glinda waited for Dorothy to do what was planned all along.

  • @boyofsummer79 Wah? "Neither was the witch" I doubt that XDD I still say Glinda conspired a murder~, there are other ways of learning responisblity then killing a green witch with water. But seeing as how its all a dream, thats one unique way of learning it XD

  • This is the scene where Margaret Hamilton was injured; burns to her hands & face.

  • Glinda always freaked me out :S Someone just DIED (even if she was suppose to be no good) and there goes Glinda smiling away "That was her sister, the wicked witch of the east. This is the wicked witch of the west, she's worse than the other one was." Someone DIED, and you're smiling!?!

  • Have you or someone you loved been injured or killed by a falling house, caused by the negligence of others?? Is the homeowner's insurance company refusing to pay, or attempting to force you to accept a reduced settlement??

Call The Law Offices of "Wheecan, Lyonn, Steelwell". We'll get you the compensation you and your loved ones deserve!!

    Call 1-800-529-7848 That's 1-800-LAW-SUIT!!

    Don't WAIT!! Call NOW!!

    "Se Habla Munchkineese"!!

  • @CounterCultureLives LOL!!!!!

  • 0:52 look at her feet.. :D they aren't green at all.. ;)

  • @x3ManDiix3 The Wicked Witch of The West's feet were green, until she went to visit Michael Jackson's dermatologist!! Green ankles & green feet shod in ruby slippers would make for a fashion FAIL!!

  • Poor Nesa... dead with cold feet...

  • "and she's worse than the other one was" i love that bit <3

  • The witch is out of control... I mean they're just shoes... LET IT GO

  • @TheFirstClassedFreak to be honest, it was her sisters favorite pair of shoes given to her by there father. And come on... if your sister just died, wouldn't you be pissed if that Glinda bitch fucking stole your sisters slippers right off her feat before her corpse is even cold yet?

  • @porterbehling True, but after all the things she was worrying about like the deal with the wizard, being called a witch by madame morrible, the cowardly lion thing, and fiyero... don't you think the issue of her and her sister's slippers are pretty minor?

PS, In my first comment I was quoting wicked btw.

  • @TheFirstClassedFreak ah wicked, i'm reading that book right now.

  • @porterbehling Seeing as that the WICKED Witch of the West is a power hungry tyrant, Glinda did the right thing by giving them to Dorothy. If she had the slippers, she'd be ruling Oz.

  • @LaneCormier I still think Glinda is a sneaky one who wanted the slippers all to herself. Once Dorothy goes back to Kansas, she is the supreme ruler of Oz :)

  • @frankiefan842 I had a theory that Glinda is the wicked one, disguised as the good fairy who turned the good fairy into the wicked witch.

  • @LaneCormier The problem is that Glinda gained unlawful possession of the ruby slippers. If The Wicked With of The West was The WWE's next of kin, then she may have been the rightful heir to them. In that case, Glinda has committed a tort of unlawful conversion, and could possibly face criminal prosecution as well. Dorothy is clearly in unlawful possession of those slippers, and her flight from MunchkinLand to The Land of Oz with stolen property could only serve to make her problems worse.

  • Question: If the Ruby Slippers protect whoever is wearing them how come the Wicked Witch Of The East is killed when Dorothy's house falls on top of her?

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo Thats actually good continuity you pointed out there

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo I don't think the ruby slippers guaranteed protection from injury; Glinda said that "they're magic must be very powerful".

I'm not sure how the probate laws read in MunckinLand, but I doubt that the Witch of The East wanted the ruby slippers left to Glinda. If The Witch of the East had left a will, (she may have; we just don't know) then she may well have bequeathed them to The Wicked Witch of The West. In that case, then Dorothy is in unlawful possession of them.

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo Never thought of that. maybe because the tornado was from another world. The slippers could only protect in oz.

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo I don't think the Slippers were meant to protect the wearer; they only cannot be removed from the person wearing them.

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo Maybe they don't protect evil.

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo Beacuse, its just how the movie happened. :)

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo PLOT HOLE!

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo Maybe the slippers only protect you if you're good/innocent? Or a downtrodden girl from Kansas?

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo Because she wasn't the main character.

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo if someone tries to take them off is what i remember

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo The ruby slippers don't protect whoever is wearing them. Glenda just said that their magic is very strong.

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo Thats the magic.
