thanks this is great. will you do the same for images from 2010 onward? i hope so! it's interesting to view the changing flare intensity and frequency and think about corresponding events during those outbursts. if this is tame behavour during minima, what's it gonna do during a mega-maxima? michio kaku suggests we urgently organise backup systems for our electrical grids. most flares are directed away from earth. our 'electric' society is vulnerable to a mega-maxima direct hit.

@AdeptAlbatross That argument has been refuted several times. Hot temperature records breaks have been skyrocketing since 2000 and have been increasing in relation to low temperature records. It doesn't matter if your backyard is little colder than 10 years ago, when the rest of the world is sweating.

I think it could be because the shift comes in 2012 and it releases a shock-wave afterwords bringing more activity- i could be wrong- but thats what some science is saying. it seems to be a energy source that is "leaking" from some other place than this universe, like a hose spraying out water, but that water comes from many miles away from the reservoirs.
