A lot of car for the money. People wanted to complain about the $37k price tag, but I've looked at other cars and the amount of technology, performance, and practicality can't be beat.
There's plenty of turbocharged engines out there that has lasted for decades it's not like you're going to rev the shit out of it, the high performance ones for racing are the ones that'll wear out running at 7K-12K rpm for 3 hours each weekend.
And 4200 lbs is great at least it'll stick to the ground during the winter seasons, the Crown Victoria is a rather heavy car as well.
lol sounds exactly like a 335i, thats exactly wut I was thinking when I heard twin turbo, v6 that produces ton of hp and good mpg lol, but is there any turbo lag?
@sssmeee Look at the torque band. A 3.5L V6 isn't really that big. Not nearly big enough to produce 350 lb-ft of torque on its own anyway. It needs the turbochargers to do that. And since it makes full torque from 1500 RPM to redline, it seems that there is no lag at all and that Ford fitted the perfect sized turbos for this engine.
Bottom line is the The taurus has done what it's done since 87 "with little recognition" and that is it gives an option No Jap maker does a high output sport version for the same price.Toyota,Nissan,Honda don't offer 370 horses just like with the original SHO's.Such an under respected car because people compare it to sports cars...same people who claim accords are awesome of course.
@sdustin85 Look jap cars don't need 365hp to be fast like the taurus. The G37 only got 328hp and it's faster and cheaper and it's a luxury car to. The Taurus is really heavy so they need a lot of hp and torque to move this car.
I wanted so much to like this car. My enthusiasm was diminished when I sat in the driver's seat. The wide center console prevented my right leg from getting fully comfortable. I had to rest it against the side of the console and that got annoying after a while because the top corner dug in right below my knee. It's a shame because there's so much good about this car.
Why are you all of a sudden giving an attitude? Did i not approach this in a non violent manner? "the camry and accord are cheap because they have nothing in them" Actually, yes they do. Both for a Taurus that isn't even a SHO you can get fully equipped for a Sat Nav, hands free blue tooth, leather interior, sunroof, full alloy's and a ton of other accessories. I already said i like this car. No need to be a dick about it.
"You don't know anything" No we don't know anything about it yet. It has to be out in the market for a few years inorder to know its reliability. Most ford cars in the past were horrible, had to many problems, and weren't really worth anything after you bought it. Now this is the time in the market to make absolutely no mistakes, everything is critical and very few margins for error. I like this car, I really do. The problem though is the market it is in.
I saw one of these the other day. Freaking HUGE! it is a big car. It also looks really nice. HOWEVER! Whoever might be considering to buy one. I would recommend you to get the unturbo'd. A 3.5 Twinturbo'd V6 Is NOT going to last that long Vs a N/A motor. It sounds very risky.
@EpiDemic117 - they're going to get good life out of these motors. I don't care who makes the turbocharged engines, be it Detroit, Japan, or Europe. They just make them way tougher today than even ten years ago. I won't hesitate to buy an EcoBoost equipped car my next go around. Hell, the standard Motorcraft oil in all Ford gas engines is semisynthetic right from the factory.
I still would. When considering the basic physics of turbo engines. They by nature don't last as long as one that is naturally aspirated. Still a new car so we will see how it goes. It's also quite expensive to. Costs more than an accord or camry at base. for 25k you could get a really well equipped accord or accord coupe. The coupes are down right stunning. 29k you can get the V6 6spd accord coupe. Same price you get the taurus SEL. Not even the SHO. But its a luxury car so i get it.
@EpiDemic117 the taurus is a 4 door full sized car, so much larger, and the accord is much smaller and your comparing a coupe. I don't think you realize how big this car is. When you see one pull up next to you its pretty intimidating.
i love the tauras! i love ford! i went to the ford dealer and they had a SHO with the sport package and i fell in love with it. i would take this over a BMW or a merc or an audi ANYDAY!
its ok 4k pounds i mean its not a car you will race its a car to get you to places with a descent amount of hp and a very luxurious interior and exterior i don tmind the weight now if it was a car that you will race or drag with wich would be rediculus then it is preety heavy
We test drove the new Taurus, and it's for certain a quality product, and a step in the right direction for Ford to reinvent its image. Even the SEL we drove, which costs $32,000, had a high quality feel to it that wasn't in the old Fords. While this car alone won't save Detroit, this, combined with the new Fiesta in the works, and new GM products such as the 2010 Equinox and Malibu, it proves that America isn't out of the game yet.
I love how people try to talk about stuff they dont know about. hehe. the taurus is sellin out and the sho is going faster then the mustang. Camry? HA! thats a death trap they cant even make floor mats....

Took one out on a test drive last week. The car is just too big. It's as big as my Grand Jeep Cheeroke. I test drove an SHO with all of the options and out the door with tax it would have cost $48k and some change. NO WAY! My two previous tauruses combined didn't cost as much.
In short I thing the car is too big and Ford wants too much for it.
This was a really good review. The guy had a great personality, unlike some other boring-as-hell car reviewers.
I'm glad Ford is making a car like this. Sure it's not perfect, but you really feel like quality and materials used in Fords has been bumped up a notch
I have a '91 SHO, and I would buy one of these if I could afford it. I think it is an attractive car, a little on the big side though.. I don't know if this is a home run but you can never make everyone happy, either you like it or you don't.. You will never have he fastest car out there but I think this is a good car. We'll see just how good it is in a few years.
lfagius you tell it the way it is, i just took one out for a test drive, and you what it impressed me ALOT an i'm a fan of bmw's i would defently be buying one
365 HP is under delivering? Too expensive? Nonsence. Taking inflation into account, 2010 Taurus SHO's price is in line with the first and second generation SHO, and this one has features some luxury cars costing thousands more don't have.

Too expensive yes.
There is not a sane person in the world that would pay $38K-$46K for a Taurus.
Interesting that you bring up the past S.H.O.s...do you remember how well they sold? THEY DIDN'T...because, just like this new SHOW...they were overpriced and under delivering.
The interior looks very cheap...and the Sony sticker does not help that.
Ford needed a home run with this car...and they got a foul ball.

Totaly AGREE! $42000 for a Taurus??? Are they nuts. The car is way way to heavy and it looks very very boring outside, inside is nice tho. As far as the power, nothing to brag about to be honest, not bad and not good.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
oh and handling stinks with this car too, take a hard look at a pontiac G8GT $28,000 it will out perform this car in every way, 0-60, braking, track, cornering, looks. and the G8gxp is even more amazing and it even costs less.
Pontiac HMMMMM, isnt this company extinct? The owners ditched it after they took the American taxpayers money. Lets face it, If Government Motors was that good they wouldnt have needed a bailout!!! Ford Forever!!!!!
Guess what - Ford's selling every SHO they can build, and the SHO is 20% of production, instead of the planned 15%. Turns out SHO is in far more demand than anticipated. Yep, right in the $38 to $46K range. You lose.
Right...give it 6 mo for all of the pent up demand for this overpriced, overweight, bland looking appliance to dry up.....
They will be going for $29,995 on dealer lots in a year. A big, fat, Camry-bland, gas guzzling, FWD-based AWD sedan is about as desirable as getting your arm chopped off.
Ford can't build a decent vehicle if they wanted to. They really need to file for Ch. 7........
They'll continue selling well, as long as gas stays under $3 a gal. Higher, then I'd say all bets are off for anything larger than a Corolla, like the first half of last year. The car sales and financial markets have noticed Ford. In case you haven't, Ford's stock is doing quite a bit higher than the basement prices it went for a year ago. My hat's off to anyone who had the balls to buy it at a $1.25 a share a year ago. Now it's trading for over $8.60, and even went over $9 a share last week.
