My French is not good enough to catch every nuance but It seems to me that this is a very great . . . and bitter song. Mireille operates at a disadvantage in one respect. Few song writers write songs worthy of her formidable talents. Only the very best music and lyrics allow her to give a song her complete strength. I think she overpowers some songs that are not worthy of her. Still, many of her lighter pieces are very charming. I like her in songs like this that show her great dramatic gifts.
J adore cette chanson et Mireille Mathieu!! this song is so full of teenage joy, careless....it reminds me of someone who is just discovering the world and joy of living! Has anyone the translate, please?
It is interesting to compare the two ladies who sit at the summit of French popular song, Mireille Mathieu and Edith Piaf. I think Mireille has an unsurpassed vocal instrument and Edith has an unsurpassed emotional instrument. It is wonderful to listen to both.
Don't be ridiculous, she did not butcher this song or any other songs that other artists did before her or after her for that matter. A song is made to be sung, and every performer will add his own touch to it. She has a voice that carries emotion like no other, and that, my dear, is Mireille.

Oh my God !!! She's AWFUL I didn't know she butchered this song. JANIS IAN KNOCK HER BACK. The French singer Claude François covered it too and it's horrible too.

Not seventeen, though, I think. She had a different hairstyle then.
