@nneky100 If your flag cannot be repaired, you can make a small fire, fold the flag in triangle style and place it in the burning fuel. The American Legion, VFW, AMVETS, military recruiters, Boy Scouts & etc will also take your damaged flag for proper disposal. I don't know much about how they burn other flags, but that is how you "respectfully" burn the American flag.

You are supposed to dig a hole then place the flag in it and then burn it and finally berried in the said hole. Its wrong moraly to burn your own flag if you are indeed an American. When people burn flags as Americans, they're proclaiming that some aspect of their freedoms as a citizen are being violated in some way. It's morally wrong to deny someone the freedom to burn a flag. If they don't have the freedom to burn it, then why bother waving it around? Freedom > A piece of cloth.
