I attempted once and it was no bueno. I weigh in around 165, my passenger was around 125 - 130 and it just wasn't good. Bike was hard to turn and felt very unstable. Would never do it again....
Perfect conditions on flat ground I have topped out around 91mph, on flat with wind at my back I have seen the speedo at 106mph. Downhill WOT in 6th I have seen 99mph on the speedo.
I think I might have fallen in love with this bike.infrastructure, are the tires too small? Because I saw the dimensions of the 2012 model and they are larger but not as beefy as the earlier models, what would you suggest, 2012 (basically nothing new except tires, color, and maybe the frame) or the 2010 to spare a few bucks?
Not bored of the power at all, it has enough power for me. With that said...there are times that I wish I could squeak a little more out of it, but over all after 2 years of riding this bike I am still pleased and very impressed with it.
Sport bikes definitely pull hard from me on the straights, but when we hit the twisties and I am passing them their eyes look like they are going to pop out of their heads.
Great vid!! So nice to see a riding vid with nothing but the sounds of the ride instead of crap music. Great scenery too. Makes my choice of either a drz400s or wrr easier too.
It's not underpowered at all. I go on group rides with 600's & 1k's. They may lose me on the straights but when it gets twisty they can't believe their eyes when I'm passing em like they are standing still.
That's great news. I'm moving to Tuscon in October. I'm about to purchase my own 250X as well; hopefully this weekend. I'll have to message you when I get down there and settled in so you can show me the twisties.
depends on what you consider comfortably? What speeds are your highways? I'm in Arizona and most of our highways are 75mph. I find it easy to cruise for any amount of time at that speed on the highway, only problem I find is being blown around by the wind gusts from other vehicles. This bike is very light so it gets blown around quite easily.
Remember top speed on flat is about 85mph or so, top speed downhill WOT in 6th I've hit 97. With that being said, what do you consider high speed? The bike pulls rather well between 50 - 70.
Oh alright. main concerns are can i keep up with 600's when i go for group rides and wheelies.. can i clutch it up at 50 or does it not have enough power?
check my other vid "saguaros and my wrx250"...I'm riding with gixer 1k's, several gixer 600's, and I'm following a xz-14 and a rc51...at one point the zx-14 and rc51 flat out take off on me but in the corners I'm all over their ass. You'll also notice that not 1 bike passes me....how you think that is for keeping up with bigger bikes?
Stock you would not be able to clutch it up at 50, with some mods no problems my friend. If you're in Az let me know and you can check it out yourself
i vacationed there this year and i bet the ride would have been better in that fashion.... went up all 25 miles and back in a chevy suburban. great vid great place
If this had been my first bike....oh man, I could only dream! This bike is PERFECT as a first bike when wanting to learn how to ride on trails or the pavement.
Dont get me wrong...the bike has power, but its nothing a first time rider couldnt handle given the rider has had proper instruction from a competent instructor. The bike as it sits stock, I thought was actually rather weak...and even with all the mods I have done now to the bike, I find myself wishing it had more behind it. Just do not ride beyond your abilities and always always always wear your gear!

I have the camera mounted on the right side of my helmet towards the front of my jaw. The camera is barely noticeable in my field of vision, I barely even notice it anymore.
that is a great video. i wouldnt get tired of riding that setting day after day. what kind of mileage do you get with that bike and how much is it usually to fill the tank?
I have heard of ppl getting close to 100 - 115 mpg on this bike, but that is bone stock plus being very conservative with the throttle. I have some work done to my bike and I personally have a jerky wrist so my mileage suffers due to that. The tank is a 2.01 gallon tank and I can usually squeeze anywhere from 70 - 100 miles out of a tank depending on how hard I get into the throttle and what type of roads I am riding.
I know for a fact it is reliable enough as a daily driver. Only time of year I dont ride the bike is monsoon season. Only time I drive my truck is if I am buying shit or need to haul shit.....otherwise its the bike.
@yabba234 I have used mine as a daily commuter and racked up 21,000km (about 13,000miles) on freeways and in suburbs. It has been excellent, not given me a single problem. In that time, the only maintenance I've done is oil changes, filter changes, 1 new rear tyre, and 1 chain and sprocket set. It's very economical in both fuel consumption and maintenance as a commuter. It's also lots of fun compared to some "commuter" bikes.
I like your video. Please tell me, can you ride very slowly in the city (for example behind cars), with smooth ? (Please understand, I´ve buy a XT 6000 in the past and sell it with 500km, because were to aggressive in lower shifts and were very difficult riding in the city. I´m afraid buying the WR 250 X and have the same problem, please tell me your personal experience, from a rider to another. Thanks very very much for your time. Luis ;)
