Reviews are all about finding someone with opinions that you share to an extent and looking at that saying "well this person likes it,I think I might enjoy it too". So if you LIKE Jonathan Kim and agree with him you should have no problem with this. If you don't,theres plenty of other reviewers out there and i'm not pulling the whole "if you don't like it don't watch it" B.s. Its just the nature of reviews.

I'm ok with Jonathan Kim having strong opinions in his reviews. A movie like The First Grader is not going to have a big corporation advertising budget. Worthy movies need advocates like Jonathan Kim to help spread the word to the public to see them.

The cheap shot against Mel Gibson? Irrelevant, unnecessary. The political commentary during a review of movies that revolve around what can be/are political issues like this and Atlas Shrugged? Totally relevant, whether or not they're entirely necessary.

I fail to see how throwing inflammatory remarks contributes to the review of a good movie. I dont like Mel Gibson and dont agree with political views from both sides of the fence, but why use a movie review as your political soap box? We get it, he doesnt like conservatives or republicans. I have no problem with the political opinions. Reviewers shouldn't have to speak with a detached objectivity - your perspective and contributions regarding the context of the film make me eager to see it.

Completely ignoring the politics within a film or surrounding a film would make you a bad reviewer. Instead, you gave a thoughtful analysis. Hence, you are - you know - good!
