Whether it's a religion or not is debatable.  Masonry isn't evil, but that would depend on what you've been taught, some people think cats are evil. I think it's better said that Masonry is used to explain your current religion more accurately, according to their beliefs/opinions anyway, if you have a religion. Know that a Mason will lie or deny a truth about their ways if you reveal something. I don't think their rituals and secrets are a big deal anyway, it makes you curious to join!

Masonry teaches morality and brotherhood. It's not a secret society but a society that has some secrets. It's the secrets that tie the members together all over the world. There is nothing sinister in freemasonry. Masonry is not a religion but embraces all religions. A person is not allowed to become a Mason if he doesn't believe in God. Other than that, he can believe in whatever he wishes.
