Those two songs do sound alike. I'm surprised so many other people can't tell.
However, whilst Timbaland has stolen a lot of samples illegally (like the 8-bit ones and the asian ones), this one was actually credited, so it's legal. He knows there's no way he could get away with sampling such a famous song in secret tbh.
Also, if anybody cares, Telephone by Lady Gaga uses one of the drum patterns from The Way I Are (uncredited).
@Aykeybeatz Timberland didn't sample it just sounds really similar its actually a patch from the sh-201 b roland that he used and i know some people might be like "well he can just be playing the same notes as Salt-N-Pepa there for he is sampling their song!" but thats incorrect its actually played on different notes it just sounds like there the same notes as Push It. But nice idea and I must admit it does sound kind of similar :).
yes ofcourse he had this idea in mind. It was meant to be a counter or underlying melody. And yes it was intentional that it sounded alike...the pattern is the same but the notes are different. And guess what? I'm sure Salt-N-Pepa got that idea from someone else too.
for those of you that say the songs sound nothing alike, you are right. the melody from salt n pepas hit is used as the melody for the synths in the background of tims beats tho. you actually have to listen for it for it is not as overwhelming as salt n pepas song.
are you fucking kidding? you must be on some heavy ass cocaine to think these two songs are correlated in ANYY way. get real bro.Timbo is Genius....you have not fallen into his graces to say he stole from salt n pepa till then you simple bitch....let the historic compositions he creates bless our ears for a few more decades that is all
two completly different songs ...... just cause timbaland use some kicks ,claps an snares dont mean he copied the song.... who ever made this video could go lick some chimpanzee nut sac.
Who didn't know that it was sampled? This is news? So when Daft Punk does it's innovative but when timbaland does he's stealing and a rip off? lol If people paid timbaland for jacking his sound he'd have a small country somewhere.
Who didn't know that it was sampled? This is news? So when Daft Punk does it's innovative but when timbaland does he's stealing and a rip off? lol If people paid timbaland for jacking his sound he'd have a small country somewhere.
Wow seriously? Everyone knows he sampled Salt n Pepa for that song. It's even on Wikipedia. Lots of people have sampled this song. It's not a crime he probably got permissions, just means there's no originality in music anymore. Push It was sampled from other songs btw
i noticed this when it first came out as well, but most producers bite harder than tim does. it's just the way music is. dre takes whole songs, and gets credit for being the best. timbaland has admitted that he samples. it's his way of mixing in original melodies, and crazy percussion that makes him one of the best. bottom line is tim is still my favorite producer. listen to any genre of music, and the top producer of those genres, and you will find similarities of other producers.
Push It sampled You Really Got Me by The Kinks, Keep On Pushing by Coal Kitchen, and The Bird by The Time. Its sampling, but if your gonna call a Timbaland a thief you better call Salt-N-Peppa thieves too.
the song "push it" and "the way i are" are sampled from the same song ..and danja hands produced "the way i are" timbaland was co-producer..timbaland even said it was sampled from a house song on his shock value cd and said danja hands was the main producer of that song on the radio b4 the song was his second single...
I am a producer and I can't really find the sample. Could you be more specific like the seconds! I do think they are both exotic beats, with a lot of snyth pads and generators; but i don't hear any similarities. No offense to your video.
everyone knows he sampled this.. it's a classic, and it's expected for people to recognize the sample right away, he didn't jack it and say it was his own
Well when you hear new music today u say like shit this is wery good beat (but you heard that beat before just your brains cant procces where from, couse it's completly sampled) good work Timbo =)
I think I understand what part you mean... the melody in Timbaland's part 0:20 to 0:37 kind of resembles the Salt'n'Pepa part 1:06 to 1:22 ...you should have only used those little parts of each of the songs for this video so it is easier for people to understand what bits you are talking about. Anyway, I wouldn't call this sampling.. just a coincidence they are just slightly similar.
nahh.. I usually agree I mean what he did with arabic music was just stealing literally but I really dont hear a similarity between these two songs?..
who really cares he makes good music and he probably is the best producer out right now if he stole music then people would clearly sue him. ive heard of only one time where he was sued..bottom line yall should quit hating
Damn he just re does some old stuff NO BIG DEAL GET OVER IT YO all the Arabs get pissed over their stuff being used and damn poeple it is just smapling and making an old song new! reviving the old with new yo!
lol he incorporated elements of that song into his, its not stealing. its more of an interpolation. he saw that it would compliment the lead so he decided to add it, i think its creative. i do it all the time with my beats
What people don't seem to realize is a lot of people in the african american community do not typically get a chance or even go out there way to listen to techno/house/electronica so therefore they get that influence from timbaland. Is that so bad that he brings that element there? No one in the hiphop genre gets mad and blames techno producers for taking "Jay-z, 50 cent, etc" lyrics and putting them on a techno beat. Is that not ripping off?!
of course he ripped off Salt 'N Pepa's "Push IT" ! He never credited them and everyone thinks he's the sh*t !
how lame of him. he keeps repeating the same beats over and over again and artists jump on the bandwagon to get their name linked to his. I liked his early stuff with Missy Elliot and especially Aaliyah though. those beats were original (kind of, not counting the UK's Jungle beats scene)
he is still tight, he takes bits of other influences and turns them into something else...therefore it isnt what it started out as anymore. he took something old and improved on it.
@dachronic2008 sorry man, dead wrong here. hip hop was created using samples to ENHANCE someone's OWN creation. What timbaland does is completely rip off and never credit. i believe that's a huge difference. granted, we all hear the "funky drummer" sample loop in so many early hiphop tunes and breakbeats but there was licensing and James Brown (R.I.P) got his dues and went after those who were out of line. Timbaland knows what he does and rips off artists who cannot contest. legal costs!
cmon fckin youtube put the sound back on. poster you should dispute the reason sound was removed, theres a tutorial somewhere on youtube how to get it back up. it works!
hav any of you people claiming any one in hip hop producing is a rip off ever listen to any music of the past 30 years...everybody uses everybodies music its only against copyright if it wanst used my permission granted either upon payment or just by the originator granting permission. listen to more music and be less narrow minded and realize 95 percent of producers use other music in some way...thats how genres are created and music has been around since cave men...it cant all be original
@Aykeybeatz okay topline Timberland is a successful 'Producer' and in te industry its completely normal to recieve hatred from people like you trying to make a place for yourself in the field he works in #Fail at that.
He samples and creates around that sample it's as simple as,you should try it.......you might get somewhere 'aykeybeatz' ;)
push it wasnt just sampled with dat song but it was also sampled in destiny child "nasty girl" and ciara "do it". the beat was also a remix to my humps by b..e.p
