I remember watching this advert back in 1983 and wondering how the children are managing to fly so fast through the legs of the dining room table without hitting the top of the table or chairs.
Even tho passing the speeder bike hand to hand thro my folks dining room table and chair legs didn't seem quite as exciting as it did in the ad for the obvious (physically impossible) reasons, I still loved it.
Still probably my favourite Star Wars toy ever, and this ad had a lot to do with it.
At £2.99 from Asda Kirkton (Dundee's first supermarket) that was reasonable for a Star Wars toy in 1983 - despite that being probably over a tenner in todays money.
Aw geez. That bring back a lot of memories. I used to have a ton of those little speed bikes and my brother and I always tried to make Han Solo ride them, but his leges didn't work for it =D. One thing that I loved back then was how cheap the toys were. Nowadays your looking at nearly $10 for 1 action figure. I mean come on! >8(
I had one of those speeders when I was a kid. I remember that after a few weeks one of the plastic clips that held the front together broke and fucked it all up. I think my dog chewed it to pieces after that
Set was built on a revolving platform that had not table top or seats just legs and a kid was lying on a plank of wood above it as two burly men spun the floor round creating the 'wonderful' special effect of weaving through chair legs. I was the kid at the end of the ad with the bad trousers on but my young colleague was the chap who got to do the 'stunts'!

Awesome. These commercials are so nostalgic. Makes me want to collect vintage Star Wars toys again. I sold most of my collection when I wasn't into it any more. :(
No! That almost looks like a Kenner commercial, with the end bit and the toys..But Kenner is much better! Are Kenner still in buisness? They're not are they?
i remember watching that advert, must of been around 1984!...I later collected most of the kenner star wars toys and almost all the figures...which I later shot to pieces with an air rifle!!! how gutted am I!?

The English Palitoy ads are so much more dramatic and "film" like than the u.s. Kenner ads for the same toys.
