So happy to see someone using a shotgun and technical attacks. Seeing people with the backburner or just running up to someone with blasting fire makes me sick. I loved the arrow reflects and even the secondary fire combos. All in all very impressive. Glad to see people using the entire range of the pyro class.
@Serg2010sob becouse it has no airblast, refills you back to full health and gives you crits just for doing fire damage and it's pretty much a W+M1 weapon.
ill never understand all the people that equip the degreaser but switch less than people who use the backburner. once you get good at pyro, i dare you to try out stock pyro again, its actually pretty good. the degreasers switch speed is only good for weapon heckling scouts and axetinguishing, the extra afterburn damage of stock is far too often more than worth it compared to the degreaser

@UnseenPenguin the advantage is you can hit them with a few secondary shots before they land. Although it's a force of habit for me and i assume him, i'm just used to hitting people with an easy flare after airblasting them, so i switch.

I meant when reflecting rockets, I thought that maybe you got a longer airblast/bigger 'hitbox' cause it seemed to reflect rockets that were by their side rather than infront, although that was probably just lag compensation. Backburner is for babies. You cannot do anything cool with it. Sure you can still airblast, but its very limited. With the degreaser there are so many more possibilities and uses. And who needs an extra damage boost anyways? Oh yeah, noobs who use the backburner.
After I stopped playing W+M1, and switched to the degreaser, r. shooter, and axetinguisher, I found playing pyro a lot more fun and the kills were more satisfying. Arrow reflections make me really happy, and juggling a burning enemy then axetinguishing him is so much more satisfying than circle-strafing someone with the BB.
@kingkongtiger Pyro vs Pyro fights. It gives me the edge over a Pyro that's using Flare gun. With the reserve shooter, I sacrifice long range capability to improve my close range capabilities. If the target is close, but not close enough for my axe, I switch to the reserve shooter, but I can't combat a Spy or Sniper that's hitting me from long range. I think it's fairly equal. The mini-crit damage of the reserve shooter doesn't do much at a range, and flares can be deflected, so eh.
Well when the Pyro comes up from behind with his Backburner, or Phlog, all you have time to do is say, well crap; then you're dead. Unless you use the Enforcer, which is also BS. At least with the Degreaser, or stock, there's time to set-up for some sort of trick restitution, or Amby headshot. Though, I get so much satisfaction stair stabbing a BB pyro when I'm over healed with my Kunai... Sigh...
T_T Amoo is almost everywhere, if you're halfway decent at reflects you might as well go backburner because you're either killing soldiers and picking up their guns as ammo or defending a sentry from incoming fire in which case there should be a dispenser nearby. Backburner can still airblast, you just have to be better at it that usual.
Now the phlogistinator, that's a whole other story...

@1andonlyWojjan The phlog is made for a completely different playstyle than the degreaser. It basically makes playing pyro a little harder (although admittedly less strategical) but more rewarding.
@1andonlyWojjan just... no. the weapon switch time the degreaser gives you is way more important. and you are going to need more then 4 airblasts, almost always. unless you run into a lone soldier, in which case he's made a mistake, and you can't count on the mistakes of others. You also need airblast to control the enemies movement, either to trap them, airblast an uber, etc. either way, the backburner doesn't cut it. The critical hits from behind has a small hit box, so even those are meh

I don't know how you play pyro but if you're right in the fray people will be dying left and right and all of their weapons give you 100 more ammo. Backburner is invaluable against other pyros like you who puff and sting, because not only are you immune to their one-trick-pony style play, you can also outdo them in fire damage. @1andonlyWojjan Ubers are the pyro's job, not the demoman's. Also, if you don't know how i play pyro, then how do you know i'm a puff n sting player? i use degreaser/flare gun/axe. I don't know the players that you're up against, but if you're in the middle of them, and they can't kill you, that's sad. A good degreaser pyro will either airblast and shotgun you, or flame, airblast, and harass with flares.

Quick switch>active fire. Comboing flames with flares/axtinguisher/other stuff deals damage just as quickly and doesn't rely on people not watching their back.
@1andonlyWojjan I have tried this, in between using the flames as well, you run out of amo really quick. There is not always amo around. It's lucky I was good with my shot gun but it was still enough to be frustrating. I usually use the degreaser,

You cant always get ammo easily, yes 1v1 kills always give ammo but if your in a group someone else might grab it before you can get there. Backburner uses way to much ammo for each compression to really be worth using. 4 blasts and you are totally out of ammo.

I was gonna say this was a good video. Until the end. Backburner is for babies? No, Backburner is for pyros with sense, those who can outsmart a team and use the crit bonus to punish the team from behind. Yea, you got some very good frags in this using m2, but most of it is spam.
1700hours played on TF2, over half of those are pyro, I still out score airblast pyros using the backburner without using m2.

Pyro is an incredibly easy class to use, but extremely difficult to master, and once you've mastered it, you can be the most annoying guy on your team, you can be "that guy who everyone on the opposite team wants to get revenge on".
Everything the pyro does becomes an insult, like, "See your rocket? now it's exploding in YOUR face! Whoops!"
@TrainInMyButt might be much healthier if you instead switched to melee and axtinguished them. OR, (maybe even better?) If you have a reserve shooter, you can shoot people while they're in the air to get minicrits. That seems like a really good application.
@Razer1103 Well if you're blasting them back into a corner then it's a good idea to pull out the melee, but if you're blasting them just backwards then the shotgun to do some damage is a define better idea. I personally use the Flare Gun and I get about half of all my kills by flaming people and then airblasting them back and Flaring them in mid-air. It's a very good tactic to use if you know how to use it properly.
@nubzaquer right, but the video uploader (and the person that comment was to) has a habit of switching to secondary right after airblasting, reserve shooter would be complementing his habit.

@Razer1103 look at some of the things that aim-bots do exclusively for pyros..[use air-blast] on projectiles - arrows, bombs, rockets and sentry-rockets. [use axtingisher] on burning opponent [locate metal] they deflect with the ability to aim and willanticipate a trajectory with a flaregun and hit a demo stickyjumping low and fast with eight stickies.

Being hit by a flare gun as a sniper has to be a big enough embarrassment to change class right there.
@Razer1103 especially when you master the flaregun. you can snipe crits. and with the homewrecker/maul, you become a worse worst nightmare to spies. few things feel better than than solo destroying an engie base with a level 3 sentry, flaregunning a scout as he turns a corner, thinking he escaped, and killing him before he gets a healthpack, or getting thanked for putting someone out.
I'm fine with people killing me with the backburner from behind, but most people just use it as a flamethrower with +10% damage. Maybe if it had -10% instead it would encourage people to use it properly. Also phlogistinator is horrible, for shit pyros it has no disadvantage since they never airblast, and it encourages W+M1 even more than the backburner.
On a side note, just completely remove the enforcer, spy shouldn't rely on firepower, he's meant to be a sneaky class.
The true beauty of this video is not the kills, but the near-impossible grace that they are performed with. The way they dodge, flank and lead the enemies is a work of art in itself.

The backburner was bad before it could do airblasts but now it can. Sure it costs more ammo then the others but whatever. It's worth it for the back crits and 15% burn dmg buff.

A pyro doesn't require much skills to get those minicrit, which imo a pyro doesn't deserve it.

I don't quite get how you can get that good airblasts on the arrows. Must be fucking hard to see, when it's comming.

I was gonna say this was a good video. Until the end. Backburner is for babies? No, Backburner is for pyros with sense, those who can outsmart a team and use the crit bonus to punish the team from behind. Yea, you got some very good frags in this using m2, but most of it is spam.
1700hours played on TF2, over half of those are pyro, I still out score airblast pyros using the backburner without using m2.
Oh yea, dutchy, come at me with your m2, my stickies will always win <3

Pyro is an incredibly easy class to use, but extremely difficult to master, and once you've mastered it, you can be the most annoying guy on your team, you can be "that guy who everyone on the opposite team wants to get revenge on".
Everything the pyro does becomes an insult, like, "See your rocket? now it's exploding in YOUR face! Whoops!"

@TrainInMyButt might be much healthier if you instead switched to melee and axtinguished them. OR, (maybe even better?) If you have a reserve shooter, you can shoot people while they're in the air to get minicrits. That seems like a really good application.

@Razer1103 Well if you're blasting them back into a corner then it's a good idea to pull out the melee, but if you're blasting them just backwards then the shotgun to do some damage is a define better idea. I personally use the Flare Gun and I get about half of all my kills by flaming people and then airblasting them back and Flaring them in mid-air. It's a very good tactic to use if you know how to use it properly.

@Razer1103 look at some of the things that aim-bots do exclusively for pyros..[use air-blast] on projectiles - arrows, bombs, rockets and sentry-rockets. [use axtingisher] on burning opponent [locate metal] they deflect with the ability to aim and willanticipate a trajectory with a flaregun and hit a demo stickyjumping low and fast with eight stickies.

Snipers are blind anywhere outside of their scope. And I have my ways of getting around the main battle-lines and ambushing from behind.

I mean in a full game situation, where you have 11 other people on my team to worry about, and potentially 1 to 2 snipers for you to worry about.

@Razer1103 especially when you master the flaregun. you can snipe crits. and with the homewrecker/maul, you become a worse worst nightmare to spies. few things feel better than than solo destroying an engie base with a level 3 sentry, flaregunning a scout as he turns a corner, thinking he escaped, and killing him before he gets a healthpack, or getting thanked for putting someone out.

I'm fine with people killing me with the backburner from behind, but most people just use it as a flamethrower with +10% damage. Maybe if it had -10% instead it would encourage people to use it properly. Also phlogistinator is horrible, for shit pyros it has no disadvantage since they never airblast, and it encourages W+M1 even more than the backburner.
On a side note, just completely remove the enforcer, spy shouldn't rely on firepower, he's meant to be a sneaky class.

The backburner was bad before it could do airblasts but now it can. Sure it costs more ammo then the others but whatever. It's worth it for the back crits and 15% burn dmg buff.
